Hydrostatic-pressure dependence of Raman-active optical phonons in Nd:Mg:LiNbO3

No full text
In this work, we report the frequency variation of Raman phonon modes of a doped Nd:Mg:LiNbO3 crystal under high hydrostatic pressure up to 6.5 GPa. Whereas most of the phonon modes are not affected by doping, showing the same pressure dependence of their frequency as for undoped LiNbO3, there are three exceptions: The A1(TO)2, the A1(TO)3 and the E(TO)4 phonons. These modes exhibit a considerably different pressure coefficient, which is mainly attributed to the influence of Mg ions occupying Nb-sites in the lithium niobate matrix.Fil: Tejerina, Matías Rubén. Mapping quantum algorithms in a crossbar architecture

No full text
In recent years, Quantum Computing has gone from theory to a promising reality, leading to quantum chips that in a near future might be able to exceed the computational power of any current supercomputer. For this to happen, there are some problems that must be overcome. For example, in a quantum processor qubits are usually arranged in a 2D architecture with limited connectivity between them and in which only nearest-neighbour interactions are allowed. This restricts the execution of two-qubit gates and requires qubit to be moved to adjacent positions. Quantum algorithms, which are described as quantum circuits, neglect the quantum chip constraints and therefore cannot be directly executed. This is known as the mapping problem. This thesis focuses on the problem of mapping quantum algorithms into a quantum chip based on spin qubits, called the crossbar architecture. In this project we have developed the required compiler support (mapping) for making quantum circuits executable on the crossbar architecture based on the tools provided by OpenQL. Using this compiler, we have analyzed the mapping overhead of the crossbar architecture and studied how it relates to the characteristics of quantum algorithms. In addition, we have developed a verification program that checks the output of the compiler and provides a visualisation tool for debugging.Computer Engineerin

Современные тенденции испанского языка и социальные изменения в испаноязычном обществе

Language is the first social science that man possesses. Languages change, usually very slowly, sometimes very quickly. There are many reasons why a language can change. An obvious reason is the connection between language and social consciousness. Then, the author is dedicated to the investigation of changes in the Spanish language that reflect those of society. The relevance of the subject is even more evident if we remember the speed with which social relations are changing in our time, new technologies are born, new media appear. The language accepted, adopted and sheltered new definitions of activities that are direct daughters of modern communication technologies. Its power of sociabilization and viralization impacted the anatomy of a language that lives in constant transformation. Language is a living entity, it grows, it transforms, adopts new terms. If it were not, we would continue speaking in Latin. To achieve the objective of identifying the connection between language changes and those of society, the author uses the following methods. On the one hand, he observes the changes in the meaning of words imposed by politicians to achieve a kind of nebula that we call politically correct. On the other hand, he comments on the new words that appear in the language thanks to technological development, through social networks and youth jargon. The last part is about language discrimination. To identify and describe the changes in language, the author analyzes from the linguistic point of view the speeches of modern political figures, newspaper texts and publications in social networks. As a result, the author clearly shows the connection of modern trends in the Spanish language with changes in society.

No full text
This paper focuses on the subtitling of film festivals and particularly on the specificities of electronic subtitles manually launched via projector. The process carried out from the commissioning of the subtitling of a film festival to the launching of electronic subtitles during screenings will be explained based mainly on the professional experience of the author at a small Spanish subtitling company. The article aims to give more visibility to this Audiovisual Translation modality in order to highlight its peculiarities. Besides, in the context of the Spanish crisis, where working conditions are being worsened in every sector and the budget for culture has been cut by half in the last four years, it is crucial to underline the relevance of good quality subtitling as well as the positive influence of film festivals on societyEste artículo describe la subtitulación de los festivales de cine, en concreto, las especificidades que presentan los subtítulos electrónicos lanzados de forma manual por medio de un proyector.

No full text
It is addressed, regarding evil, considered irreducible to any attempt at explanation, the thought of Emmanuel Mounier (1905-1950), initiator of community Personalism and fundamental figure of Catholic thought of the first half of the 20th century. In this way, in the thought and existential experience of the author, deeply marked by misfortune, a spirituality of suffering emerges with great coherence that becomes provocative due to its Christian radicality in the affirmation of its fruitfulness, its hopeful pathos, solidarity with the suffering, the process of Christian transfiguration that has its climax in the Christification of pain, lived in intimate union with the suffering Christ. As a culmination, the author\u27s proposal of a “tragic optimism” as a fundamental position of Christianity in the face of inexorable pain, but deeply permeated by hope because evil has been radically defeated.

Honey yield of different commercial apiaries treated with Lactobacillus salivarius A3iob, a new bee-probiotic strain

No full text
The main objective of this study was to determine the impact of Lactobacillus salivarius A3iob, a honey bee gut-associated strain (GenBank code access KX198010), on honey yield. Independent assays were conducted from May to September 2014 and 2015, in three commercial apiaries: Tilquiza, El Carmen and Yala, all located in north-western Argentina. Local Apis mellifera L. bees were kept in standard Langstroth hives; treated hives were fed once a month with 1×105 cfu/ml viable Lactobacillus cells, administered to the bees through a Doolittle-type feeder in 125 g/l sucrose syrup. Control hives were only given the syrup mixed with MRS sterile broth. The main honey harvest was done in December in all groups and we found that there was an overall increase in honey yield from the treated hives. In 2014, all treated hives produced between 2.3 to 6.5 times more honey than the controls. However, in 2015, higher honey average yields in the treated hives at El Carmen and Yala were obtained, yet not at Tilquiza, because of a slight mishap. They experienced the swarming of several bee colonies due to a higher number of bees without appropriate management, which caused the control group to yield more honey compared to the hives fed with Lactobacillus. Interestingly, at El Carmen, two honey harvests were recorded: one in winter and another in summer (July and December 2015, respectively). This unexpected result arose from the particular flora of the region, mainly Tithonia tubaeformis, which blooms in winter. L. salivarius A3iob cells prove to be a natural alternative that will positively impact the beekeepers’ economy by providing a higher honey yield. </jats:p
