A Two-Terminal IC Temperature Transducer
Abstract–A monolithic IC temperature transducer with an operating temperature range of- 125°C to +200”C has been designed, fabricated, and tested. The two-terminal device, which is fabricated using laser trimmed thin-film-on-silicon technology, is a calibrated temperature-dependent current source with an average output impedence of 10 Ma over the 3.5-V to 30-V range of input voltage. Overall absolute ac-curacies of +0.5 ° C from –75°C to + 150”C have been achieved on a scale of 1 pA/K under optimum operating conditions. I
The End of Capurro's Information Trilemma? (A Proposal of an Evolutionary-Ontological Solution)
In this paper, the author pursues an analysis and interpretation of the concept of information from the perspective of evolutionary ontology in connection with the ambition of information science (and philosophy of information) to create a so-called unified theory of information. He draws attention to the problem of Capurro’s information trilemma, which is unsolvable in the context of traditional approaches to information in information science, or leads to various paradoxes. Hence, the author suggests an evolutionary-ontological solution to this problem based on the definition of information as an evolving (ontically creative) process. Interkulturalna komunikacija u romanima Kristijana Novaka
Hrvatski pisac Kristian Novak kroz društveno osjetljive teme diskriminacije i rasizma prikazuje „suživot“ različitih kultura u Hrvatskoj. Tema ovog rada je analiziranje elemenata interkulturalne komunikacije u njegova dva najpoznatija romana: „Črna mati zemla“ i „Ciganin ali najljepši“.Nowdays, when the process of globalization is a worldwide concept, and when we can say that culture interaction is our everyday life, we defined „interculturalism“ as a theoretical and practical approach to a relations between cultures. With a growth of public interest in those topis, also the Contemporary writers started using those topics in their creations. Croatian author Kristian Novak is using social responsive topics of discrimination and rasism to show coexistence of different cultures in Croatia. Primary goal of this paper is to analize elements of intercultural comunication in his two most popular novels: „Črna mati zemla“ and „Ciganin, ali najljepši“

Magnetically Triggered Nanocomposite Membranes: A Versatile Platform for Triggered Drug Release
Author Manuscript 2012 March 9.Drug delivery devices based on nanocomposite membranes containing thermoresponsive nanogels and superparamagnetic nanoparticles have been demonstrated to provide reversible, on−off drug release upon application (and removal) of an oscillating magnetic field. We show that the dose of drug delivered across the membrane can be tuned by engineering the phase transition temperature of the nanogel, the loading density of nanogels in the membrane, and the membrane thickness, allowing for on-state delivery of model drugs over at least 2 orders of magnitude (0.1−10 μg/h). The zero-order kinetics of drug release across the membranes permit drug doses from a specific device to be tuned according to the duration of the magnetic field. Drugs over a broad range of molecular weights (500−40000 Da) can be delivered by the same membrane device. Membrane-to-membrane and cycle-to-cycle reproducibility is demonstrated, suggesting the general utility of these membranes for drug delivery.Ruth L. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 118(46),(2021): e2107250118, https://doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2107250118.Collecting and removing ocean plastics can mitigate their environmental impacts; however, ocean cleanup will be a complex and energy-intensive operation that has not been fully evaluated. This work examines the thermodynamic feasibility and subsequent implications of hydrothermally converting this waste into a fuel to enable self-powered cleanup. A comprehensive probabilistic exergy analysis demonstrates that hydrothermal liquefaction has potential to generate sufficient energy to power both the process and the ship performing the cleanup. Self-powered cleanup reduces the number of roundtrips to port of a waste-laden ship, eliminating the need for fossil fuel use for most plastic concentrations. Several cleanup scenarios are modeled for the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP), corresponding to 230 t to 11,500 t of plastic removed yearly; the range corresponds to uncertainty in the surface concentration of plastics in the GPGP. Estimated cleanup times depends mainly on the number of booms that can be deployed in the GPGP without sacrificing collection efficiency. Self-powered cleanup may be a viable approach for removal of plastics from the ocean, and gaps in our understanding of GPGP characteristics should be addressed to reduce uncertainty. The US NSF supported this work as part of its 2026 Idea Machine initiative (Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems, EArly-concept Grants for Exploratory Research Award #2032621).
