Charakterisierung unterschiedlicher Laubabfallfraktionen für die energetische Nutzung - Zwischenergebnisse des Projekts SET-Laub
No full text67Laub wird auf kommunaler Ebene im Zuge der Straßenreinigung, der Parkpflege und der Bioabfallsammlung erfasst und kompostiert. Aufgrund der teilweise schlechten Rotteeigenschaften und gleichzeitig relevanten Heizwerten ist die energetische Nutzung von Laub insbesondere für Kommunen interessant. Der Einfluss der Laub(mit)verbrennung auf die Emissionen wurde bisher jedoch nicht systematisch untersucht. Aus diesem Grund sollen im Projekt SET-Laub (Systematische Ermittlung von Emissionsdaten bei der thermischen Umsetzung unterschiedlicher Laubabfallfraktionen) unter der Einhaltung der Anforderungen an die Feuerungsanlagen gemäß 4. BImSchV und TA Luft unterschiedliche Laubfraktionen in Mischungsanteilen mit einem konventionellen, holzartigen Brennstoff in einer Verbrennungsanlage (400 kW) thermisch untersucht werden. Während der Verbrennung sollen mögliche Umweltbeeinträchtigungen (Staub, NOx, CO, organische und anorganische Stoffe) quantifiziert werden. Dazu soll der Einfluss des Sammelorts (Straßenlaub, Parkpflege etc.), der Expositionsdauer (Früh- und Spätlaub im Herbst) und der Lagerungsart (Silierung und Ballierung) auf das Emissionsverhalten des potentiellen Brennstoffs (bzw. der Brennstoffmischung) untersucht werden und Empfehlungen für die Verwendung von Laub als Brennstoff entwickelt werden. Im Vortrag werden Zwischenergebnisse aus der Projektbearbeitung vorgestellt. In einer Sammelkampagne im Herbst 2016 wurden insgesamt 25 BigBags Laub im Rahmen einer kommunalen Laubsammlung an unterschiedlichen Stellen (Hauptstraße, Park, Wohngebiet) erfasst. Anschließend wurden die Laubproben hinsichtlich verbrennungstechnisch relevanter Parameter analysiert (Wassergehalt, Aschegehalt, Flüchtigengehalt, Elementaranalyse, Heizwert/Brennwert, Schwermetalle, Ascheschmelzpunkt). Je nach Sammelmethode wurden Aschegehalte zwischen 17 und 44 % ermittelt. Eine Siebung bei 4 mm Maschenweite zeigte eine recht gute Absiebbarkeit mit hohen Aschegehalten im Feinanteil. Des Weiteren wurden verschiedene Kompaktierungsverfahren (Ballierung, Brikketierung und Pelletierung) untersucht und optimale Parameter ermittelt. Mit der Ballierung konnte beispielsweise eine Verdichtung des Laubs von 31 bis 56 kg/m³ auf 200 bis 270 kg/m³ (Rundballenpresse) erreicht werden

After the Epidemic: Recent Trends in Youth Violence in the United States
No full textThe epidemic of youth violence in the United States peaked in 1993 and has been followed by a rapid, sustained drop. In parallel with our earlier treatment (Cook and Laub 1998), we assess two types of explanation for this drop -- those that focus on 'cohort' effects (including the effects of abortion legalization) and those that focus on 'period' effects (including the effects of the changing crack-cocaine trade). Once again we are able to reject the cohort-type explanations, yet also find contradictions with an account based on the dynamics of crack markets. The 'way out' of this epidemic has not been the same as the 'way in.' The relative importance in homicide of youths, racial minorities, and guns, all of which increased greatly during the epidemic, has remained high during the drop. Arrest patterns tell a somewhat different story, in part because of changing police practice with respect to aggravated assault. Finally, we demonstrate that the rise and fall of youth violence has been narrowly confined with respect to race, sex, and age, but not geography. Given the volatility in the rates of juvenile violence, forecasting rates is a risky business indeed. Effectively narrowing the range of plausible explanations for the recent ups and downs may require a long time horizon, consideration of a broader array of problem behaviors, and comparisons with trends in other countries.
A tragédia em A maçã envenenada, de Michel Laub
No full textIn this article we analyze the narrative action of the novel Maçã envenenada (2013) wrote by Michel Laub to see how the author presents in the book what we call tragic element, in order words, narrative events which announce to the destruction of the protagonist in order to extract from this event the exposure of a disordered world. To understand the concept of tragedy, we use the concepts of modern tragedy developed by Raymond Williams, who sees in the tragic action the concept of revolution. On the other hand, it will be emphasized the protagonist's admiration for the romantic attitude of the singer Kurt Cobain, who refuses to subordinate himself to rules of this disordered world by committing suicide.Neste artigo analisamos as ações narrativas do romance A maçã envenenada (2013), de Michel Laub, para visualizar como o autor compõe no livro o elemento trágico, ou seja, a partir de eventos narrativos capazes de apontar para o aniquilamento do protagonista e enfatizar a exposição de um mundo desordenado. Para bem compreender o conceito de tragédia, utilizamos as concepções de tragédia moderna desenvolvidas por Raymond Williams, que vê na ação trágica o próprio conceito de revolução. Ademais, será apontada a admiração do protagonista pela postura romântica do cantor Kurt Cobain que recusa subordinar-se às normas desse mundo desordenado cometendo suicídio

No full textResumo: A discussão em torno da representação da violência na arte é o que impulsiona a narrativa de Solução de dois estados, romance do escritor Michel Laub, publicado em 2020. A partir do desenvolvimento dessa temática no livro, este artigo analisa de que maneira a estrutura composicional do relato favorece a construção de uma narrativa performática que instiga o leitor a refletir sobre questões suscitadas no decorrer da história. Para tal, a pesquisa baseia-se no estudo sobre realismo performático reflexivo de Ravetti (2019), tendo como base os panoramas sobre literatura brasileira contemporânea de Schollhammer (2009) e Dalcastagnè (2012); além do estudo de Pellegrini (2004) sobre literatura e violência no Brasil.Palavras-chave: literatura brasileira contemporânea; realismo performática; violência.Abstract: The discussion about the representation of violence in the art is what drives the narrative of Solução de dois estados, a novel by the writer Michel Laub, published in 2020. Based on the development of this theme in the book, this article analyzes how the compositional sctructure of the story favors the construction of a performative narrative that instigates the reader to reflect on issues emerged throughout the story. To this end, the research is based on the study of reflective performative realism by Ravetti (2019), based on the panoramas of contemporary Brazilian literature by Schollhammer (2009) and Dalcastagnè (2012); in addition to the study by Pellegrini (2004) on literature and violence in Brazil.Keywords: contemporary brazilian literatura; performative realism; violence
Longe da água, de Michel Laub: da construção narrativa ao herói problemático
No full textThe objective of this work, from a look towards the narrator self (present) and the narrated self (past), is to think about the characteristics of the contemporary narrator, observing how the temporal element acted in this character of the novel Longe da água (2004 ), by Michel Laub. Regarding the methodology, it is based on the narratological perspective of Gérard Genette (1979), and comes to the studies of Sigmund Freud by facing the traumatic trajectory of the protagonist character of Michel Laub. Furthermore, the reflections of Jeanne Marie Gagnebin (2006) will be relevant for understanding the role of memory in the construction of the novel by Laub's author-hero. By understanding that the traumatic trajectory of the protagonist is directly linked to his choices made in the past, the presence of the problematic hero within the novel is glimpsed and, thus, Georg Lukács (2000) will be invited to the discussion. It is hoped that this work results in an understanding of certain peculiarities of contemporary Brazilian literature, which seems to assume the difficult mission of representing the individual as a being torn apart by interiors conflicts.Objetiva-se, neste trabalho, a partir de um olhar em direção ao eu narrador (presente) e ao eu narrado (passado), pensar nas características do narrador contemporâneo, observando como o elemento temporal atuou nesta personagem do romance Longe da água (2004), de Michel Laub. Em relação à metodologia, embasa-se na perspectiva narratológica de Gérard Genette (1979), e chega-se aos estudos de Sigmund Freud por deparar-se com a trajetória traumática do personagem protagonista de Michel Laub. Além disso, as reflexões de Jeanne Marie Gagnebin (2006), serão relevantes para a compreensão do papel da memória na construção do romance pelo herói-autor de Laub. Ao compreender que a trajetória traumática do protagonista liga-se diretamente às suas escolhas feitas no passado, vislumbra-se a presença do herói problemático no interior do romance e, assim, Georg Lukács (2000) será convidado à discussão. Espera-se que este trabalho resulte em compreensão de certas peculiaridades da literatura brasileira contemporânea, que parece assumir a difícil missão de representar o indivíduo como ser despedaçado por conflitos interiores
