Partial Match Queries in Quad- K-d Trees
Quad-K-d trees [Bereckzy et al., 2014] are a generalization of several well-known hierarchical K-dimensional data structures. They were introduced to provide a unified framework for the analysis of associative queries and to investigate the trade-offs between the cost of different operations and the memory needs (each node of a quad-K-d tree has arity 2^m for some m, 1 ≤ m ≤ K). Indeed, we consider here partial match - one of the fundamental associative queries - for several families of quad-K-d trees including, among others, relaxed K-d trees and quadtrees. In particular, we prove that the expected cost of a random partial match P̂_n that has s out of K specified coordinates in a random quad-K-d tree of size n is P̂_n ∼ β⋅ n^α where α and β are constants given in terms of K and s as well as additional parameters that characterize the specific family of quad-K-d trees under consideration. Additionally, we derive a precise asymptotic estimate for the main order term of P_{n,} - the expected cost of a fixed partial match in a random quad-K-d tree of size n. The techniques and procedures used to derive the mentioned costs extend those already successfully applied to derive analogous results in quadtrees and relaxed K-d trees; our results show that the previous results are just particular cases, and states the validity of the conjecture made in [Duch et al., 2016] to a wider variety of multidimensional data structures
Abstract : The strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) is a species used for the production of fruits, which are consumed worldwide, either fresh or processed products. Strawberry fruits are classified as red fruits in addition to being considered as functional food, due to the fact that they have several biological activities, which are related to the presence of secondary metabolites, especially phenolic compounds and anthocyanins. The present study aimed at identifying and quantifying the major anthocyanins present in the fruits of different strawberry cultivars (Albion, Aromas, Camarosa, Camino Real, Monte Rey, Portola and San Andreas) by HPLC/DAD and pH-differential method, as well as identifying the phenolic compounds, using Folin-Ciocalteu and Fast Blue BB techniques. Results indicate that the cultivars presented significant differences for the content of anthocyanin compounds, with the Camarosa cultivar the one with the highest concentration of anthocyanins. In the HPLC analysis, the major anthocyanin detected in all cultivars was pelargonidin-3-O-glucoside, with content above 80% of the total anthocyanin content. Results also indicated a strong correlation between HPLC and pH-differential techniques (r = 0,82) for anthocyanin quantitation. Quantification of the phenolic compounds also revealed a strong correlation between the used techniques (r = 0,71), with the existence of significant difference for the contents among the studied cultivars, with the Monte Rey cultivar presenting the highest concentration of phenolic compounds. Results were correlated with the free radicals scavenging capacity (DPPH). A strong correlation (r = - 0,93) between the total anthocyanins content and EC50 values ,was observed. However, the correlation between phenolic compounds and EC50 was weak (r = - 0,48). Based on the presented data, the capacity of free radical scavenging is related to the anthocyanins content of strawberry cultivars
The Grouped Author-Topic Model for Unsupervised Entity Resolution
This paper describes a generative approach for tackling the problem of identity resolution in a completely unsupervised context with no fixed assumption regarding the true number of identities. The problem of entity resolution involves associating different references to authors (in a paper's author list, for example) with real underlying identities. The references may be written in differing forms or may have errors, and identical references may refer to different real identities. The approach taken here uses a generative model of both the abstract of a document and its list of authors to resolve identities in a corpus of documents. In the model, authors and topics are associated with latent groups. For each document, an abstract and an author list are generated conditioned on a given group. Results are presented on real-world datasets, and outperform the best performing unsupervised methods.</p

Diphoton decay of the higgs from the Epstein–Glaser viewpoint
We revisit a nearly 10-year old controversy on the diphoton decay of the Higgs particle. To a large extent, the controversy turned around the respective merits of the regularization techniques employed. The novel aspect of our approach is that no regularization techniques are brought to bear: we work within the Bogoliubov–Epstein–Glaser scheme of renormalization by extension of distributions. Solving the problem actually required an expansion of this method’s toolkit, furnished in the paper
Vegetative and generative development of strawberries (fragaria x ananassa duch.)
V obdobju 2019/2020 smo v letnem ciklu spremljali razvoj vegetativnih in generativnih organov jagode (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) sorte \u27Clery\u27 v nasadu jagod v Zrkovcih. Podzemni del rastline najintenzivneje raste v jesenskem času, medtem ko njegovo dejavno rast zaustavljajo temperature tal pod 5 °C. During the 2019/2020 annual cycle, the development of vegetative and generative organs of the strawberry cultivar Clery (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) was monitored at a strawberry plantation (cultivar Clery) in Zrkovci. We were interested in the dynamics of development of individual plant organs with regard to soil and air temperature and the initial seedling weight. We found that air temperatures below 5 °C arrest the vegetative development of the above-ground part of the plant. Although the underground part of the plant develops most intensively in autumn months, its active growth is inhibited by soil temperatures below 5 °C. The large differences in the weight of frigo seedlings of the same quality class (e.g. Class A) are clearly reflected in shoot formation potential, which directly affects the generative development of the seedlings. Namely, seedlings with a higher initial weight develop a greater number of properly developed shoots and are thus more suitable for planting in the ground at the end of June or at the beginning of July in the soil-climatic conditions of north-eastern Slovenia
Czy udzielony Duch wygasza funkcję przykazań Bożych? Przyczynek do Pawłowej pneumatologii
The paper concerns Paul’s statements about the end of the Mosaic Law. The author is interested in practical application of these statements, i.e. in Christian life. The study reveals that the given Spirit puts aside the commandments – their function, but not the content whom He brings to perfection. Contrary to the OT it is the Spirit who guides the Christians.
