Growth mechanism of InAs-InSb heterostructured nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy
We report on the particle diameter dependence of the growth rate of the InSb segment of InAs-InSb heterostructured nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy. The analysis of the growth rate reveals that the growth is limited by the GibbsThomson effect and the effect of NW lateral dimensions on the nucleation rate during the layer by layer growth. In the temperature range explored, the surface diffusion of adatoms toward the particle and the growth temperature are not affecting the growth rate
Obstacles to intergroup contact: When outgroup partner's anxiety meets perceived ethnic discrimination
Emerging research suggests that outgroup partner's anxiety can disrupt intergroup rapport-building. This study extends previous findings by investigating the interactive effects of anticipated outgroup partner's anxiety and perceived ethnic discrimination on self-anxiety and intergroup contact avoidance. A sample of immigrant adolescents belonging to different ethnic minorities in Italy (N = 118) was considered. Results showed that when participants expected to interact with an anxious outgroup (Italian) versus in-group partner, self-anxiety increased and, as a consequence, their intentions to avoid future encounters. However, these effects were observed only for participants with higher (vs. lower) perceptions of being discriminated against. The implications of these results for interethnic communication and misunderstandings are discussed. © 2013 The British Psychological Society
Faceting of InAs-InSb Heterostructured Nanowires
We report on the morphology of InAs-InSb heterostructured nanowires grown by Au-assisted chemical beam epitaxy. Using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, along with high angle annular dark field image analysis, we show that the hexagons defining the cross section of the two segments of the nanowires are rotated one with respect to the other by 30° around the growth direction and that the corners of these hexagons are rounded off by six small facets. Six additional facets that are not parallel to the growth direction are found in the InSb segment at the InAs-InSb interface and are indexed. Finally, the relation between the dimensions of the two segments composing the nanowires is discussed quantitatively

Undiagnosed esophageal intubation is still prominently in anesthesia-related morbidity and mortality. Three cases of undiagnosed esophageal intubation taken into consideration for possible anesthesiologic malpractice are presented. A review of the international anesthetic-related morbidity and mortality statistics indicates that this misadventure remains a problem even among anesthesia personnel, a medical population specifically trained in such a procedure. It is not only the frequency of this misadventure but the potential catastrophic consequences for the patient that underline the importance of being able to recognise and correct an esophageal intubation. The reliability of commonly prescribed methods of assessing tracheal tube position is reviewed and the conclusion is drawn that continuous end-tidal carbon dioxide measurement during anesthesia is perhaps the most reliable means under all circumstances for determining proper tube position and should be employed routinely whenever possible
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
