    Parenting, between radicalism and ideology

    No full text
As has been the case for several years in many countries, in Italy, new forms of family composition, as well as increasingly complex forms of parenting, are sharply taking root. These innovations are often accompanied by criticisms and (pre)conceptions that (in)form our traditional and consolidated way of thinking about the family. Issues related to the right of the child to pursue his or her best interests and the possible functioning of the family constellations with non-genetic links are feeding important ethical questions. The careful analysis of scientific literature suggests freeing oneself from ideological approaches to base assessments and choices on the data available within psychological studies on the phenomenon. The commitment of professionals working with children is to welcome the complexity of today’s families without stigmatizing, pathologizing, or ideologizin

Domestic violence is one of the most critical issues worldwide, often reported in newspapers and faced with prejudices and clichés. Violence against women in particular continues to be an obstacle to reaching equality, development, peace and the achievement of respect for women human rights. Primary prevention strategies aim to increase awareness and critical capacity of the phenomenon in the general population. They are therefore not only a clinical challenge, but also a social, cultural and political one. Objective The objective of this literature review is to identify primary prevention programs and interven- tions related to interpersonal violence Methods A literature search was conducted through major databases: MEDLINE/PubMed, PsycINFO/ PsycLIT, Excerpta Medica/EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Science (ISI), Cochrane Library. Nation- al data were collected from, the ISTAT website, the Ministry of Health and the Interior and the Institute of Health. Conclusions The analysis of primary prevention programs highlighted two elements of criticality: insuffi- cient involvement of the perpetrators of the violent behaviour (men) compared to the involve- ment of women, and lack of attention to specific risk and protective factors for each level

Donation of the body and its parts in the construction of parenthood

    No full text
The developments of science and technology make possible today unprecedented exchanges of body parts by multiplying the figures and links that intervene in the process of building parenthood and generating significant ethical and judicial controversies. Body donation in the procreative field constitutes an anthropo-logical and social phenomenon of increasing attention, which contributes to one of the most intimate and pro-found aspirations of the human being and which requires a careful evaluation of the various interests involved and a thorough reflection on the statute and characteristics of the parental bond. The interest of the child, the dignity of women and the quality of human relations are the parameters of this analysis and, at the same time, the perimeter of the judgment. However, the approach to these issues is complicated not only by the extreme heterogeneity of legislation but also by suspicions and prejudices that hinder reflection appropriate to the com-plexity of the issues involved. Investigate the reasons for the choice of donation, the criticalities, and possible drifts, without closing in their subjective value horizon, is an unavoidable prerequisite for a comparison with the new social realities of the family that respects the fundamental rights of the person. A "pithecoid feature" in skulls confirming possible neuropsychiatric disorders. The diagnoses of an anthropologist of the nineteenth century

Background and aim: The interest for the morphological research of degenerative signs aimed at identifying personality pathologies characterized positive anthropology of the late nineteenth century. The increasing exploitation of statistical-epidemiological methodologies together with the recent neuroscientific acquisitions, risk dangerous effects on mono-factorial models on the understanding of antisocial behavior. Methods: Through historical analysis of the research carried out by the positivist anthropologist Giuffrida Ruggeri on the lack of the glenoid dimple of the temporal of the alienated, the authors examine the criticality of rigid and one-way psychopathological interpretative approaches also in relation to recent applications of neuroscience. Results: Increasingly, the scientific approach seems to abandon an interpretative vision anchored to rigid biological and statistical parameters to embrace a dimension adequate to the singularity and complexity of man. In this approach, neurosciences contribute to supporting the circularity of the interpretative model of antisocial behavior. Conclusion: Far from a deterministic return that assigns a decisive role to constitutional factors, new knowledge leads us to reflect on mutual, continuous and harbingers of biology and the environment in the characterization of the human being, in a constructive dialogue with ethics

The aim of this paper is to analyze the methodological approach of two great masters, Aldo Franchini and Giacomo Canepa, who are considered among the most eminent scholars of legal medicine and criminology in the second half of the 1900s.From the examination of important clinical investigations carried out on offenders, it emerges that it is essential always toevaluate the criminal event within the specific context and path of life - unique and personal - of the offender. In this researchand reconstruction, the legal expert has to connect the different pieces that, although sometimes in an apparently disorderedand confused manner, compose the path of life of the criminal, avoiding schematic rigidity and banalizations. The proposedmethodology constitutes a precious heredity and the teaching of these masters is more relevant than ever for all the scholarswho approach the study of man and his behavior.
