Delft University of Technolog
A Simulation study on Double-Sided LCC Compensation Network for Inductive power transfer
An inductor and two series capacitors topology referred to as LCC is proposed in this thesis. LCC topology can achieve high efficiency (AC-DC total efficiency is 93%) because it can always work at resonant frequency condition, independent on the misalignment of primary and secondary coils and variation of the load. Integrated LCC topology makes the system more compact.
This thesis proposes a double sided LCC compensation network and tuning method for wireless power transfer (WPT). With the proposed topology and its tuning method, the resonant frequency is irrelevant with the coupling coefficient between the coils and is also independent of load condition, which means that the system can work at a constant switching frequency. Analysis in frequency domain is given to show the characteristics of the proposed method. I also propose a method a tune the network to realize zero switching (ZVS) for the Primary \ue2side switches. Simulation results verified analysis and validity of the proposed compensation network and tuning method. A wireless charging system with output power of up to 100W, and 89.7 % efficiency from dc power source to load is achieved

An Improved Peak Voltage Calculation Method for Compensation Components in S-S and LCC-S Compensated Wireless Power Transfer Systems
The pursuit of battery charging technology for electric vehicle (EV) has led to extensive research on the inductive-based wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. In this paper, the compensation component (including coils) stresses will be studied in two commonly adopted compensation topologies, namely S-S and LCC-S compensations. Due to the peak voltage calculation inaccuracy for certain components based on conventional fundamental frequency analysis, an improved peak voltage calculation method is introduced in closed form, which is proved to be more accurate by both simulation and experiments.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.DC systems, Energy conversion & Storag
Startup Method and Strategy for Bipolar LCC-HVDC System Used as Black-Start Power Source
The scientific and reasonable black-start scheme is the most effective measure to cope with the power grid blackout, which can greatly accelerate the system recovery process, thus significantly reducing the losses of power system due to power failure. The bipolar LCC-HVDC system has the advantages of flexible regulation and large transmission capacity, while it has some difficulties as a black start source. This paper presents a new black start method for bipolar LCC-HVDC system used as the black start power source to restore the power supply of the passive receiving-end network, so as to speed up the the recovery process. Firstly, the problems for using bipolar LCC-HVDC system as a black start source and the corresponding addressing measures are presented. And then, the implementation processes for using the bipolar LCC-HVDC system as a black start power source to restore the power supply of the passive receiving-end network are presented in detail. The process includes two stages: the first stage realizes the pseudo-deicer mode startup of the bipolar LCC-HVDC system; the second stage realizes the transition from the pseudo-deicer mode to the restoration of power supply of the passive receiving-end network. The case study verified the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method. This method makes the bipolar LCC-HVDC system have the black-start capability, and utilizes the DC system to provide voltage and frequency support for system restoration of the receiving-end power grid
Wireless Power Transfer with LCC-Compensated Transmitter and Center-Tapped Receiver Windings
This thesis proposes the wireless power transfer with LCC-compensated transmitter
and center-tapped receiver windings. The characteristics between the transmitter side current and output current are analyzed under the variable load impedance when the circuit is operated at the resonance conditions. The coupling coils are designed with ANSYS Maxwell software tool, while the design of circuit component parameters is verified through simulation by Powersim. In this article, the proposed topology is compared with the other topologies: LCC-P under the same output requirement. The coil distance is set as 10 mm, and the transferred power ranges from 100 W to 1000 W. The results show that the input current can be reduced with the center-tapped winding to reduce the conduction loss of the switch and component loss. When the load impedance changes, the transmission coil maintains the same current, which effectively improves the transmission efficiency on heavy load. When the output power is 1000 W, the transmission efficiency is 87.26%, which is higher than the efficiency of the LCC-parallel resonant converter
Stabilizing Leaf and Branch Compost Cutinase (LCC) with Glycosylation: Mechanism and Effect on PET Hydrolysis
Biochemistry, 57, 1190−1200Note : if this item contains full text it may be a preprint, author manuscript, or a Gold OA copy that permits redistribution with a license such as CC BY. The final version is available through the publisher’s platform.Cutinases are polyester hydrolases that show a remarkable capability to hydrolyze polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to its monomeric units. This revelation has stimulated research aimed at developing sustainable and green cutinase-catalyzed PET recycling methods. Leaf and branch compost cutinase (LCC) is particularly suited toward these ends given its relatively high PET hydrolysis activity and thermostability. Any practical enzymatic PET recycling application will require that the protein have kinetic stability at or above the PET glass transition temperature (Tg, i.e., 70 °C). This paper elucidates the thermodynamics and kinetics of LCC conformational and colloidal stability. Aggregation emerged as a major contributor that reduces LCC kinetic stability. In its native state, LCC is prone to aggregation owing to electrostatic interactions. Further, with increasing temperature, perturbation of LCC’s tertiary structure and corresponding exposure of hydrophobic domains leads to rapid aggregation. Glycosylation was employed in an attempt to impede LCC aggregation. Owing to the presence of three putative N-glycosylation sites, expression of native LCC in Pichia pastoris resulted in the production of glycosylated LCC (LCC-G). LCC-G showed improved stability to native state aggregation while increasing the temperature for thermal induced aggregation by 10 °C. Furthermore, stabilization against thermal aggregation resulted in improved catalytic PET hydrolysis both at its optimum temperature and concentration.https://login.libproxy.rpi.edu/login?url=https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.biochem.7b0118
Investigation on reliability and validity of Life Cycle Cost (LCC) data inputs of building
In this paper, our aim is to propose a research design and methodology to investigate the current state and practice of LCC in the Malaysian construction industry, with specific reference to data inputs. The focus of the research is to assess the availability, accessibility, updated and reliability of the data as inputs into the process of estimating the total cost of building ownership. The research seeks to evaluate the data requirements of LCC analysis in generating reliable, accurate and credible LCC analysis which can therefore enlighten the clients, building owners and LCC estimators on the appropriateness, readiness, reliability and accurateness of existing databases and cost classification systems for conversion and in monitoring the outputs of LCC analysis. The anticipated outcome of the research is a proposed conceptual model which is considered the most appropriate methodology to procure reliable and credible data inputs of LCC. The model is purposely designed to rectify the problems of data constrained and the lack of appropriate data inputs in conjunction with the employment of LCC techniques in the Malaysian construction industry. The conceptual model can be shared with the LCC practitioners who could likely benefit from the output of the research, and simultaneously reinforce the practice of LCC in the investment decision making process of the clients and building owners to attain the best value for money. The present research has ascertained three objectives in purposely to attain the research aim:
i. To study the principles of LCC and its implementation in the construction industry with specific reference to data inputs
ii. To investigate the current development of LCC application in the Malaysian construction industry and the central issues of LCC practice
iii. On the basis of (1) and (2), to develop a conceptual model which can facilitate the LCC practitioners in the Malaysian construction industry to procure reliable and credible data inputs in effort to generate an accurate LCC analysis. The outcomes of the assessment will be reported as a methodology of the research. The authors expect comments and feedbacks in effort to further improve the methodology.
