No full textABSTRACT This text is the result of a conversation between Monica Tavares and Eduardo Navas about the act of remixing. It is a reflection on the subjects discussed in the articles delivered by the students (Ana Elisa Carramaschi, Gabriela Previdello, Jair Molina, Lali Krotoszynski, Leonardo Lima, Maurício Trentin, Priscila Guerra e Rodrigo Campos) of the course “Principles of Data Analysis and Remix” taught in March 2015 in the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts at USP (PPGAV-USP), under responsibility of Professors Dr. Monica Tavares and Dr. Eduardo Navas. The course introduced basic principles of data visualization and their relation to the principles of remixing. An emphasis was placed on analyzing information, while also developing strong design skills. The relation between image and text was explored, which means that students learned how to analyze content and form while understanding their similarities and differences

Tavares a partir de uma ideia que ele propõe também como política para o seu trabalho: a literatura como um corpo-dançarino entre o poder da ficção e o ensaio [como experiência intelectual livre e também como ato em si, repetição, treino] e como um pensamento sucessivo entre um passado reminiscente e um presente ativo que se apresenta como uma forma de resistência no mundo agora; a literatura como um movimento arqueológico de colisão dos tempos com o espaço e como desejo político do espírito livre e sem gravidade, quando a escrita vem, com Nietzsche, como um corpo forte que se pergunta o tempo inteiro se é capaz de dançar. Investigar os modos de operação de uma escrita que procura seguir de perto os movimentos de um dançarino sutil [conceito do próprio Gonçalo M. Tavares] e tomar para si uma mobilidade de dança a partir do uso de uma reconfiguração do espaço da história - principalmente nos projetos O Bairro e O Reino. E assim, nestes projetos, ler criticamente como esta escrita é capaz de inserir-se seguindo a morfologia esférica proposta por Peter Sloterdijk.The aim of this thesis is to investigate archaeologicalarchaeological ly the writing procedures of the literature by Gonçalo M. Tavares based on an ideia that he also suggests as policy for his work: the literature as a dancing-body between the power of the fiction and the essay [as free intellectual experience and also as an act itself, repetition, training], as well as a successive thought between a reminiscent past and an active present manifested as a way of resistance in the world now; thus, the literature conceived as an movement of collision among the times and the space and also as political desire for the free spirit without gravity, when the writing comes, with Nietzsche, as a strong body that asks the whole time if it is able to dance. The thesis also investigates the ways of operation of a writing that intends to follow the movements of a subtle dancer [a concept by Gonçalo M. Tavares], and take to itself a mobility of dance supported on the use of a reconfiguration of the history space - mainly in the projects O Bairro and O Reino. Finally, in those projects, it also aimed to read critically the way that writing can be representative of the spherical morphology proposed by Peter Sloterdijk

No full textThis report outlines the various activities coordinated by the ECOCARE team during the G20 Norwegian delegation’s visit to Brazil. The events were co-organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, the Norwegian Agency for Higher Education and Skills (HKDIR), The Norwegian Research Council, and Innovation Norway. The series that involved our ECOCARE team members included two seminars: one held in Rio at PUC with the coordination of Margherita Paola Poto, Silvano Chue Muquissai, Rodrigo Tavares, and Natalia Médici Machado; and another at Manaus, UFAM, coordinated by Giulia Parola and Margherita Paola Poto, with contributions from Ragnhild Tungesvik and Adelson Lima Gonçalves. These events served to strengthen both old and new connections and solidified a shared commitment to collaborate with Indigenous scholars and students from Brazil and Norway, as well as with academic institutions, towards fostering a just world and a sustainable Planet

Dystopia, dehumanisation, deterritorialisation and desubjectivisation in Gonçalo Manuel Tavares' pentalogy O reino
No full textThis thesis is the result of an investigation into the dystopian universe built by contemporary Portuguese author Gonçalo Manuel Tavares in O reino – a pentalogy made up of the following titles: Um homem: Klaus Klump (2003), A máquina de Joseph Walser (2004), Jerusalém (2004), Aprender a rezar na era da técnica (2007) and O osso do meio (2020) – based on the realization of the loss of subjectivity and the dehumanisation of its characters, as well as their consequent deterritorialisation. Based on a theoretical framework marked by thinkers such as Hannah Arendt, Martin Heidegger, Giorgio Agamben, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari, Walter Benjamin and researchers such as Márcio Seligmann-Silva, among others, issues such as the loss of individuality – the starting point for defining the identity of the various characters spread over the five volumes of O reino – the hypervalorisation of technique, the automation of production processes, the panoptic surveillance performed by the State and (or) organisations, the use of biopower and the various operations to dominate and subjugate the bodies, as well as the mechanisation of man and his relationships with the world around him, in a movement of dehumanisation and alienation of the subjects. To this end, an overview of the author's work as a whole has been presented in order to then analyse the pentalogy O reino from a theoretical standpoint that made it possible to promote the critical interrelationships between Gonçalo Tavares' poetics and the dystopian literary tradition.Esta tese é o resultado de uma investigação acerca do universo distópico construído pelo autor português contemporâneo Gonçalo Manuel Tavares em O reino – pentalogia composta pelos seguintes títulos: Um homem: Klaus Klump (2003), A máquina de Joseph Walser (2004), Jerusalém (2004), Aprender a rezar na era da técnica (2007) e O osso do meio (2020) – a partir da constatação da perda da subjetividade e da desumanização de seus personagens, bem como sua consequente desterritorialização. Partindo de um referencial teórico marcado por pensadores como Hannah Arendt, Martin Heidegger, Giorgio Agamben, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Félix Guattari, Walter Benjamin e por estudiosos como Márcio Seligmann-Silva, entre outros, foram tratadas questões como a perda da individualidade – ponto de partida para a definição da identidade dos diversos personagens distribuídos ao longo dos cinco volumes de O reino – a hipervalorização da técnica, a automatização dos processos produtivos, a vigilância panóptica exercida pelo Estado e (ou) pelas organizações, a utilização do biopoder e das diversas operações de domínio e subjugo dos corpos, bem como a mecanização do homem e de suas relações com o mundo ao redor, em um movimento de desumanização e alienação dos sujeitos. Para tanto, foi apresentado inicialmente um panorama do conjunto da obra do autor para, em seguida, analisar a pentalogia O reino a partir de suporte teórico que possibilitasse promover as inter-relações críticas entre a poética de Gonçalo Tavares e a tradição literária distópica
A invenção da fama em Sylvia Planth

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo propor um estudo teórico a respeito da fama póstuma de uma escritora suicida, Sylvia Plath. A notoriedade que a poeta norteamericana atingiu não se restringe apenas ao âmbito da literatura, pois encontra repercussão também nas manifestações da cultura de massa. Assim, em busca dos suportes contextuais que a teriam transformado em mito e ícone do século XX, um diálogo reflexivo com a cultura, a literatura e as formas de consumo é proposto. Ao fazer uso das ferramentas metodológicas da Teoria da Literatura e dos Estudos Culturais, esquadrinham-se os elementos responsáveis pela invenção da fama, dentre os quais merece destaque o campo das representações biográficas, a tarefa da avaliação crítica e o lugar de recepção do leitor comum. A partir dessas três frentes principais desdobram-se outros temas fundamentais para a época em questão e que contribuem sobremaneira para a manifestação do fenônemo da fama: a espetacularização da sociedade, a prática do voyeurismo, a transformação da negatividade em objeto de negociação, a estetização da morte via indústria cultural, a midiatização e mercantilização dos indivíduos, a celebrização das personalidades e a perda de objetos de referência na sociedade moderna. As linhas interpretativas levantadas oferecem a possibilidade de leitura da celebrização da vida trágica de Sylvia Plath como produto cultural pertencente à dinâmica dos objetos na sociedade de consumo. The aim of the present work is to propose a theoretical study concerning the postmortem fame reached by a suicidal writer, Sylvia Plath. The status attained by the North-American poet is not restricted to literature, as it finds repercussion also in the mass culture manifestations. Thus, as to find contextual support that would have transformed her in myth and icon of the 20th Century, a reflexive dialogue with the culture, literature and consumptions forms is presented. Making use of the methodological tools of the Literary Theory and of the Cultural Studies, we map the elements that are responsible for the fame invention, among which we highlight the field of the biographical representations, the critical evaluation task and the reception place of the ordinary reader. From those three main fronts we deploy other fundamental themes for that particular time, and which contribute strongly to the fame phenomenon manifestation: the spectacularization of society, the voyeurism practice, the transformation of the negativity in negotiation object, the esthetics of death via cultural industry, the mediatization and merchandizing of the individuals, the celebrization of personalities and the loss of reference objects in modern society. The interpretative lines brought here offer the possibility of reading the celebrization of Sylvia Plath#s tragical life as a cultural product belonging to the dynamics of the objects in the consumption society
