Pia Lara Interview
Pia Lara (B.B.A., B.A. 2011, M.B.A. 2016) was interviewed by Valeria Reynosa via the Zoom internet-based video conferencing software on June 15, 2021. Ms. Lara was born in Mexico City and moved with her family to Veracruz as a child. She is the oldest of four siblings, all of whom attended and graduated from SMU. Growing up, she and her siblings all swam competitively, which Ms. Lara continued into her college career. The Lara family moved to the US during her junior year in high school and decided to live in the US permanently after a year. She applied to SMU due to its proximity to her parents' home in Dallas, and lived at home throughout her undergraduate career. While at SMU, Ms. Lara competed for the SMU swim team, swimming the 500 meter, the 1000 meter, and the mile. She also interned for Graphic Packaging International in Mexico, and studied abroad in Cannes. While she initially majored in advertising, she ultimately double majored in Business Administration and French and minored in advertising, graduating in 2011. Ms. Lara then started a PhD program in French and French Literature, before deciding to return to Dallas for a position at Neiman Marcus and re-enrolling at SMU to pursue a Master of Business Administration in Finance. After graduating, she moved from Neiman Marcus to Kimberly Clark. At the time of the interview, she was working at Kimberly Clark, living in Dallas, and preparing for her upcoming wedding to a fellow SMU alumnus

Proceedings of the LREC 2020 workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP 2020)
This volume documents the Proceedings of the 1st Workshop on Resources and Techniques for User and Author Profiling in Abusive Language (ResT-UP), held online on 12 May 2020 as part of the LREC 2020 conference (International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation).
The workshop aimed at bringing together researchers and scholars working on author profiling and automatic detection of abusive language on the Web, e.g., cyberbullying or hate speech, with a twofold objective: improving the existing LRs, e.g., datasets, corpora, lexicons, and sharing ideas on stylometry techniques and features needed for profile information extraction and classification. ResT-UP targeted Profiling scholars and research groups, experts in Statistic and Stylistic Analysis of texts as well as computational linguists who investigate author profile and personality both in short texts (social media posts, blog texts and email) and in long texts (such as pamphlets, (fake) news and political documents). ReST-UP represented an opportunity to share profiling experiments with the scientific community and to show automatic detection techniques of abusive language on the Web. Despite the cancellation of LREC 2020 due to the COVID-19 international emergency, ResT-UP was organized online on Microsoft Teams on May 12th 2020 and the programme included three oral presentations and featured an invited talk by Paolo Rosso. ResT-UP was attended by about fifty representatives of academic and industrial organisations
Beyond the Public Sphere : Film and the Feminist Imaginary
Di Beyond the Public Sphere: Film and the Feminist Imaginary, filsuf terkenal dan ahli teori kritis María Pía Lara menantang gagasan bahwa ruang publik borjuis adalah institusi informal terpenting antara aktor sosial dan politik dan negara. Menggambar pada berbagai film--termasuk The Milk of Sorrow, Ixcanul, Wadja, The Stone of Patience, Marnie, A Streetcar Named Desire, dan Talk to Her--Lara membedah gambaran sinematik perjuangan perempuan dan penindasan mereka.
Psicofisiologia dell'esperienza poetica nello Ione platonico
This paper deals with Plato’s elaboration of the topos of the inspired poet in the Ion. After briefly discussing Plato’s inquiry into the notion of techne, the author explores the nature and function of poetic inspiration in the context of the rhapsode’s performance. The author claims that inspiration consists in an imaginative process of emotional absorption and is grounded on specific modes of psychophysical stimulation, from which aesthetic pleasure stems. The author also claims that the emphasis Plato puts on the somatosensory dimension of poetic experience contributes to an understanding of emotions as psychophysical experiences and represents Plato’s main argument for radicalizing the antithesis between techne and enthousiasmòs
