Muir-Torre syndrome - Treatment with isotretinoin and interferon alpha-2a can prevent tumour development
No full textMuir-Torre syndrome is a genodermatosis in which multiple internal malignancies are associated with cutaneous sebaceous tumours and kerato-acanthomas. A 57-year-old man presented with multiple sebaceous tumours, kerato-acanthomas, verrucous carcinoma of the nose, renal cell and transitional cell carcinomas of the left kidney, adenoma of the colon and a positive family history of colon carcinoma. He was treated with interferon (IFN-alpha Pa) s.c. 3 x 10(6) U three times a week along with 50 mg isotretinoin daily as well as topical isotretinoin gel. During a follow-up of 29 months, only 1 sebaceous skin tumour developed and was removed, whereas more than 30 such skin tumours had been surgically removed during the last 3 years. No evidence of internal tumour development or recurrence was found. The combination of IFN with retinoids seems to be of promise to prevent tumour development in Muir-Torre syndrome. Il Municipio ROMA XVII promuove un calendario di eventi, progetti e iniziative associate al "Centenario Prati-Della Vittoria" in conformità a quanto disposto dal Consiglio del Municipio con deliberazione n. 39 del 21 ottobre 2010. Nel 2011, difatti, ricorrono i 100 anni dell'Esposizione Universale del 1911, a seguito della quale la vecchia Piazza d'Armi divenne spazio espositivo, ponendo contestualmente le basi del nuovo quartiere denominato successivamente "Della Vittoria". L'evento è rilevante, e merita una celebrazione specifica, di cui il Municipio Roma XVII si fa promotore, in collaborazione col Dipartimento di Rilievo, Analisi e Disegno dell'Ambiente e dell'Architettura dell'Università "La Sapienza" di Roma.
A cento anni da quella data, il quartiere festeggia il suo anniversario.
Per tutta la giornata, dalla mattina alla sera si alterneranno le lezioni di storia del professore Luca Ribichini della Sapienza e di Giuseppe Dalla Torre rettore della Lumsa, visite guidate, concerti elaborati sugli spartiti del tempo raccolti dall'editore Stefano De Luca nel volume Prati 1911, recital su testi risorgimental

No full textMolto si è scritto su creatività ed innovazione. È infatti di tutta evidenza che gran parte della sfida del cambiamento nel lavoro che stiamo vivendo passa attraverso una più approfondita comprensione di cosa queste significhino e di come possano essere utilmente favorite e rafforzate con appropriati strumenti di gestione. Tende però a restare nell’ombra il tema della cultura (sia organizzativa che nazionale) e del ruolo che questa gioca a supporto di creatività ed innovazione, tema che ci pare possa invece contribuire all’efficacia delle riflessioni in argomento. Verifying concurrent programs by memory unwinding
No full textWe describe a new sequentialization-based approach to the symbolic verification of multi-threaded programs with shared memory and dynamic thread creation. Its main novelty is the idea of memory unwinding, i.e., an explicit representation of the sequence of write operations into the shared memory. For the verification, we nondeterministically guess this unwinding and then simulate the behavior of the program according to any scheduling that respects this guess. This approach is complementary to other sequentializations and explores an orthogonal dimension, i.e., the number of write operations. It also simplifies the implementation of several important optimizations, in particular the targeted exposure of individual writes. We implemented this approach as code-to-code transformation from multi-threaded into nondeterministic sequential programs, which allows the reuse of sequential verification tools. Experiments show that our approach is very promising: it found all errors in the concurrency category of SV-COMP15
