Breuning (1950 d) described Oberea nigriceps m. flavipennis from Taiwan, then listed it as Oberea. nigriceps v. flavipennis (Breuning 1962). In both cases the name referred unambiguously to an infrasubspecific entity, and remained therefore unavailable (ICZN 1999: Art. 1.3.4). Kurihara and Ohbayashi (2007: 202) upgraded this entity to species level and named it “ Oberea flavipennis Breuning, 1950 ”. Get PDFKurihara Sadako was born in Hiroshima in 1913, and she was there on August 6, 1945. Already a poet before she experienced the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, she used her poetic talents to describe the blast and its aftermath. In 1946, despite the censorship of the American Occupation, she published Kuroi tamago (Black Eggs), poems from before, during, and immediately after the war. This volume includes a translation of Kuroi tamago from the complete edition of 1983. But August 6, 1945, was not the end point of Kurihara’s journey. In the years after Kuroi tamago she has broadened her focus—to Japan as a victimizer rather than victim, to the threat of nuclear war, to antiwar movements around the world, and to inhumanity in its many guises. She treats events in Japan such as politics in Hiroshima, Tokyo’s long-term complicity in American policies, and the decision in 1992 to send Japanese troops on U.N. peacekeeping operations. But she also deals with the Vietnam War, Three Mile Island, Kwangju, Greenham Common, and Tiananmen Square. This volume includes a large selection of these later poems. Kurihara sets us all at ground zero, strips us down to our basic humanity, and shows us the world both as it is and as it could be. Her poems are by turns sorrowful and sarcastic, tender and tough. Several of them are famous in Japan today, but even there, few people appreciate the full force and range of her poetry. And few poets in any country—indeed, few artists of any kind—have displayed comparable dedication, consistency, and insight

A-bomb Victim，Kurihara Sadako : The Transformation from Anarchist Poet to Peace Essayist
Get PDFapplication/pdfIn March 2005 an essayist，poet and peace activist，Kurihara Sadako died at the age of 92. Her friends tried hurriedly to publish a Complete Compilation of her poetry while she was tenninally ill，but she died before its completion. It was published in July 2005. However，her essays remain to be organized and published. She started writing tanka and poems in the 1930ties. Under the influence of her husband，Tadaichi，she was involved in an anarchist movement. Many of these early works were published after the war in her first compilation Kuroi tamago (1946). After the second compilation，Watashi-wa Hiroshima-o shougen suru (1967)，she returned to writing poetry，and continued until 2000. She also wrote essays. Her first volume appeared in 1970，and she continued writing up to the mid-nineties，but they have never been compiled. One might question why she was a minor poet and essayist being published occasionally only in local newspapers and rather unknown in literary circles in Japan. Kurihara was a keen observer and a political cornmentator of her times. The day after the A-bomb attack she hurried to help others. That day changed her life. She was not popular among politicians，because she openly criticized the Japanese government for not revealing the whole truth about the war. In the recently famous poem Hiroshima to iu toki，written in 1972，she saw Japan as a victimizer of Asian countries. She also cornmented on later events such as the Vietnam Wae，Tiananmen Square，American-Japanese politics and sending Japanese troops to Iraq in 1992. She has also become famous as the author of the poem Umashimenka na (1945) which has been translated into several languages. Some of her other poems and essays have been translated into English，but have yet to gain wide recognition. In my paper I intend to discuss the trnsformation of Kurihara's works from her first interests in peace before the war，through her sad experience in Hiroshima and her involvement in peace activism. The process and practices that are described in this document were used in several
realized video installation projects over the course of 2011-2013. These installations all
encompassed the use of Architectural Video Projection Mapping techniques to create
transformative animated video projections upon the pre-existing architecture of multiple
locations. The process used to achieve this required the integration of multiple practices
to obtain and translate specific spatial data to be used in the artistic content creation
process. Particular to this method uses a photographic and spatial survey to map the
video content accordingly to the architecture of the space. The projects included an
installation on a building facade for the Art Alliance Austin’s Holiday Stroll in 2011,
another installation on the architecture of an interior wall of a museum space for an event
at the Austin Museum of Art in 2013, a site-specific musical theater piece called Almost
Invincible in the University of Texas Co-op’s Cohen New Works Festival 2013, and
multiple stages of a live music venue named Cheer-up Charlie’s in Austin, Texas form

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
