It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.Includes bibliographical references (pages 19-20).Kore Savaşı, 27 Mayıs 1960 darbesi, Kıbrıs Barış Harekâtı ve 12 Eylül 1980 darbesi Türk siyasi tarihinde önemli yere sahip olaylardır. Mustafa Şinasi Korkmaz tüm bu olaylara tanıklık etmiş ve her iki savaşta da aktif rol oynamış bir askerdir. Emekli olduktan sonra 1999 depremine Gölcük’te yakalanan Korkmaz, depremden yara almadan kurtulmuştur. Bütün bunlara ek olarak, Korkmaz’ın çocukluğu, gençliği ve asker olma serüveni araştırma kapsamındadır. Bu araştırmada, Mustafa Şinasi Korkmaz’ın 2006 yılında bizzat kendi ağzından olayları anlattığı ses kayıtları kullanılmıştır. Ses kayıtlarına ek olarak Korkmaz’ın günlükleri araştırmada yol gösterici olmuştur. Eşi Nurkan Korkmaz ve Oğulları Cem Korkmaz, Gürler Cihangir Korkmaz ile yapılan röportajlar araştırmaya yön vermiştir. Türk siyasi tarihinde yaşanmış olan olayları ve dönemin zorluklarını farklı bir bakış açısıyla yorumlayabilmek adına Mustafa Şinasi Korkmaz’ın yaşadıkları büyük önem taşımaktadır.The Korean War, the coup of May 27, 1960, the Cyprus Peace Operation and the coup of September 12, 1980 are important events in Turkish political history. Mustafa Şinasi Korkmaz is a soldier who witnessed all these events and played an active role in both wars. Korkmaz caught the 1999 earthquake in Gölcük after his retirement and survived the earthquake unscathed. In addition to all these, Korkmaz's childhood, youth and adventure as a soldier are within the scope of the research. In this research, the audio recordings of Mustafa Şinasi Korkmaz, in which he personally narrated the events in 2006, were used. In addition to the sound recordings, Korkmaz's diaries guided the research. Interviews with his wife Nurkan Korkmaz and his sons Cem Korkmaz and Gürler Cihangir Korkmaz led the research. The experiences of Mustafa Şinasi Korkmaz are of great importance in order to interpret the events and difficulties of the period from a different perspective in Turkish political history.by İbrahim Mert Öztürk

    Candidate teachers views towards the use of interactive board

    Bu çalışmanın amacı Eğitim Fakültesindeki öğretmen adaylarının FATİH Projesi kapsamında etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik görüşlerini belirlemektir. Bu bağlamda Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Sınıf Öğretmenliği ve Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği bölümü son sınıf öğrencilerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda geleceğin öğretmen adaylarını yetiştiren Eğitim Fakültelerinin milli eğitimin ihtiyaçlarına cevap verecek nitelikte öğretmen yetiştirme noktasında nerede oldukları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bir olgubilim çalışması olan bu araştırmada öğrencilerin görüşleri gönüllülük esasına göre yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu (YYGF) aracılığıyla belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada veriler içerik analizine tabi tutularak yorumlanmıştır. Analiz sonucuna göre Fen Bilgisi öğretmenliği öğrencileri lisans eğitiminde ve meslek hayatlarında etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik olumlu görüş ve yetkinlik ifade etmişlerdir. Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği Bölüm öğrencileri aksine sınıf öğretmenliği bölümü öğrencileri ise etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik aldıkları dersleri yetersiz buldukları ve meslek hayatlarında etkileşimli tahta kullanımına yönelik olumsuz görüş belirttikleri görülmektedir.The aim of this research is to determine views of candidate teachers going on education faculties about interactive boards related with Fatih Project. In this context, it is tried to be determined the level of education faculties by the thoughts of Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Education Science and Clasroom Teaching departments students in relation to train candidate teachers to responde the needs of national education while future teachers are trying to put their opinions and ideas forth. As a phenomenologic study the research data is obtained from volunteer senior students in Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Education Science and Classroom Teaching with a semi-structured data collection tool form. In this research the data are interpreted with using content analysis. As a result of analysis, science teaching department students expressed more positive views and qualifications for the interactive board use. Opposite to science department students, it is seen that clasroom departments students expressed negative thoughts for using interactive board about undergraduate education and for their future professional life

    A new family of the continuous distributions: The extended weibull-g family

    In this study, we present a new family of continuous distributions via an extended form of the Weibull distribution. Some special members of the newly de.ned family are discussed and the new univariate continuous distributions are introduced. The mathematical properties are obtained for any members of the family such as expansions of the density, hazard rate function, quantile function, moments and order statistics. We obtain the distribution parameters by maximum likelihood method. The simulation study to evaluate the performance of the estimated parameters based on the selected member of the this new family is also given. The lifetime data example is discussed to illustrate the applicability of the distribution

    On the arcsecant hyperbolic normal distribution. Properties, quantile regression modeling and applications

    This work proposes a new distribution defined on the unit interval. It is obtained by a novel transformation of a normal random variable involving the hyperbolic secant function and its inverse. The use of such a function in distribution theory has not received much attention in the literature, and may be of interest for theoretical and practical purposes. Basic statistical properties of the newly defined distribution are derived, including moments, skewness, kurtosis and order statistics. For the related model, the parametric estimation is examined through different methods. We assess the performance of the obtained estimates by two complementary simulation studies. Also, the quantile regression model based on the proposed distribution is introduced. Applications to three real datasets show that the proposed models are quite competitive in comparison to well-established models

    The unit log-log distribution: a new unit distribution with alternative quantile regression modeling and educational measurements applications

    In this paper, we propose a new distribution, named unit log-log distribution, defined on the bounded (0,1) interval. Basic distributional properties such as model shapes, stochastic ordering, quantile function, moments, and order statistics of the newly defined unit distribution are studied. The maximum likelihood estimation method has been pointed out to estimate its model parameters. The new quantile regression model based on the proposed distribution is introduced and it has been derived estimations of its model parameters also. The Monte Carlo simulation studies have been given to see the performance of the estimation method based on the new unit distribution and its regression modeling. Applications of the newly defined distribution and its quantile regression model to real data sets show that the proposed models have better modeling abilities than competitive models. The proposed unit quantile regression model has targeted to explain linear relation between educational measurements of both OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries and some non-members of OECD countries, and their Better Life Index. The existence of the significant covariates has been seen on the real data applications for the unit median response. Keyword

    This article introduces a new distribution with two tuning parameters specified on the unit interval. It follows from a ‘hyperbolic secant transformation’ of a random variable following the Weibull distribution. The lack of research on the prospect of hyperbolic transformations providing flexible distributions over the unit interval is a motivation for the study. The main distributional structural properties of the new distribution are established. The different estimation methods and two simulation works have been derived for model parameters. Subsequently, we develop a related quantile regression model for further statistical perspectives. We consider two real data applications based on the educational measurements of both OECD and some non-members of OECD countries. Our regression model aims to relate the desire to get top grades on certain young students in the OECD countries with some of their Education and School Life Index such as reading performance, work environment at home, and paid work experience. It is shown that the elaborated quantile regression model has a better fitting power than famous regression models when the unit response variable possesses skewed distribution as well as two independent variables are significant in the statistical sense at any standard significance level for the median response

    This paper proposes a new probability distribution, which belongs a member of the exponential family, defined on (0,1) unit interval. The new unit model has been defined by relation of a random variable defined on unbounded interval with respect to standard logistic function. Some basic statistical properties of newly defined distribution are derived and studied. The different estimation methods and some inferences for the model parameters have been derived. We assess the performance of the estimators of these estimation methods based on the three different simulation scenarios. The analysis of three real data examples which one is related to the coronavirus data, show better fit of proposed distribution than many known distributions on the unit interval under some comparing criteria

    This paper proposes a new extended Lindley distribution, which has a more flexible density and hazard rate shapes than the Lindley and Power Lindley distributions, based on the mixture distribution structure in order to model with new distribution characteristics real data phenomena. Its some distributional properties such as the shapes, moments, quantile function, Bonferonni and Lorenz curves, mean deviations and order statistics have been obtained. Characterizations based on two truncated moments, conditional expectation as well as in terms of the hazard function are presented. Different estimation procedures have been employed to estimate the unknown parameters and their performances are compared via Monte Carlo simulations. The flexibility and importance of the proposed model are illustrated by two real data sets

We define the distribution by transformation of a positive random variable (rv) with respect to exponential function. Basic distributional properties of newly defined distribution are studied. We pointed out the different estimation methods for its parameters’ estimations. We assess the performance of the estimators of these estimation methods by the simulation study.     A generalized skew slash distribution via gamma-normal distribution

    In this article, we introduce a generalization of the slash distribution via the gamma-normal distribution. We define the new slash distribution by relation of a gamma-normal random variable with respect to a power of a uniform random variable. The newly defined distribution generalizes the slash distribution and is more flexible in terms of its kurtosis and skewness than the slash distribution. Basic properties of the new distribution are studied. We derive the maximum likelihood estimators of its parameters and apply the distribution to a real dataset
