The project of the Eucharistic anthropology that was proposed by Alexandr Filonenko, for the first time on a national scale in theological and philosophical studies, presents eucharistic anthropology as a new branch of philosophical and theological anthropology, which studies practices of gratitude as recognition of the Other and paths of human dignity after dehumanizing practices of the XXth century anthropological catastrophe. The urgency of eucharistic anthropology is defined by the context of the return of Reality, Subject and the Sacred after their elimination from the philosophical field of modern and postmodern thought; this return is described as the presence of the Other. The main task of our paper is to investigate original theoretical proposition of the well-known Ukrainian scholar, heuristic capabilities and cognitive potential of the new trend of communicative anthropology. Alexandr Filonenko describes the interaction between the philosophical and the theological contexts of eucharistic anthropology from point of view of the contemporary culture of presence outside modern and postmodern languages. He opens new horizon of the theoasethetics, theodrama and theologics, which have been developed in the theological proposal of H. U. von Balthasar. The author develops an anthropological language sensitive towards theology and pedagogics, which lets one describe ways of overcoming the postideological crisis through practices of gratitude. As A. Filonenko stressed, Eucharistic anthropology offers one to consider philosophy and theology of witnessing in the Ukrainian context, in which the theological disciplinary matrix is currently taking shape after a long period of the philosophy of suspicion domination

Activation, Reactivity and Dynamics of Manganese Pincer Complexes in Hydrogenation Catalysis

The growing demands for sustainable chemical technologies have prompted a wave of searching new catalysts based on earth-abundant metals. In the field of (de)hydrogenation catalysis, however, the huge performance gap is commonly seen between the 3d-metal-based catalysts and their noble metal counterparts, which largely hampers their practical applications. In particular, while the Mn-catalyzed (de)hydrogenation has witnessed significant progress since the pioneering work by Beller and co-workers in 2016, most of the reported systems still require relatively high catalyst loadings. Apart from developing new synthetic methodologies based on the hydrogen transfer reactivity of Mn, searching highly active catalysts for (de)hydrogenation reactions therefore remains one of the central topics in Mn chemistry. The current approach to catalyst development is mainly based on the screening of the ligand backbones that proved to be effective for noble metal-based catalysts. However, the screening assessments with the reaction yields as the sole performance metrics do not probe the intrinsic reactivities of the catalysts and can easily result in the overlook of the potential ones due to suboptimal condition choice. In this thesis, we demonstrate in this thesis that the catalyst performance is defined by a complex reaction network comprised of multiple stages of catalyst operation, that is catalyst activation, deactivation, and catalytic turnover. The reactivity of the catalyst itself and the reaction environment of each process determine synergistically the catalytic performance. As a result, the catalytic transformation should be viewed from the system perspective with the performance being a dynamic and highly condition-dependent characteristic.ChemE/Inorganic Systems Engineerin

Filonenko A. Generalizability of health economic evaluations : methods for multinational patient-level studies. Bielefeld (Germany): Bielefeld University; 2010.Background: Cost-effectiveness outcomes collected in multinational health economic studies may vary across countries and geographic areas due to numerous clinical and socioeconomic factors. The between-country variability poses the question of generalizability of the cost-effectiveness estimates, i.e. applicability of the trial-wide results for the decision-making in particular jurisdiction. Objectives: The purpose of this research is to illustrate how selected methods can improve generalizability of the results of patient-level health economic studies by a) exploring between-country variability in incremental costs, effectiveness and resource use, b) calculation of trial-wide and country-level incremental cost, effectiveness and resource use while accounting for patient- and country-level covariates, and c) assessing the potential of covariates to predict cost and effectiveness estimates for the settings outside the study. Methods: Review of published health-economic evidence and international HTA guidelines was conducted to evaluate applied or recommended methods and analytical strategies to improve generalizability of the health economic outcomes. In the case study, qualitative and quantitative homogeneity test by Simon and Gail is used to explore between-country heterogeneity of the treatment effects measured by incremental costs, effectiveness, resource use (length of hospitalization) and incremental net monetary benefit. Hierarchical modelling is applied to calculate trial-wide and country-level estimates, while accounting for clustering and incorporating country- and patient-level covariates. Results: Simon and Gail test indicated qualitative homogeneity for incremental effectiveness, costs, length of hospitalization and net monetary benefit between treatment and control arms. Trial-wide and country-level mean incremental costs and effectiveness were estimated using hierarchical models with and without covariates. Results of hierarchical modelling suggested, that new treatment was more efficacious, saved costs and resource use in majority of the countries. Conclusions: Homogeneity test and hierarchical models are complementary methods to explore heterogeneity and to estimate trial-wide and country-level parameters for cost-effectiveness analysis. Hierarchical models allow for country-level estimates and adjustment for covariates. In the case study the patient-level covariates showed effect on incremental cost and effectiveness; country-level covariates had very small impact on estimates. The use of country-level covariates as predictors for incremental cost and resource use to improve generalizability of health economic studies beyond the study setting merits further investigation
