Sociology of Islam in Baykan Sezer
In his article the author tries to examine, understand and give the meaning the sociology of Islam in the sociology of Baykan Sezer, who is described as the domestic sociologist, from a sociological perspective on religion. It can be said that Sezer is a sociologist who tries to build a sociology specific to Turkey with his understanding of domestic sociology and also approaches religion in accordance with this sociology. One of Sezer’s major research problems is religion as a social phenomenon. According to Sezer, religion is one of the most important elements to understand societies and social reality correctly. In Sezer's perspective, the reason for this is that religion is an expression of societies and social life. As it is understood, in Sezer's sociology, religion emerges as the identity of the society and comes into being as a means of differentiation of societies from each other. In this case, in Sezer's sociology of Islam, the religion of Islam is an expression of the identity of Muslim societies, their differences and differentiations from other societies. Sezer, in this frame, speaks of Western sociology and Turkish sociology and Turkish sociology of religion. In the sociological approach of the sociologist Sezer, since Christianity is influental in Western sociology, Islam must be efficient in Turkish sociology. In this case, a sociology of Islam can be mentioned in Sezer.89208

Locally finite derivations and modular coinvariants
We consider a finite-dimensional kG-module V of a p-group G over a field k of characteristic p. We describe a generating set for the corresponding Hilbert Ideal. In case G is cyclic, this yields that the algebra k[V]G of coinvariants is a free module over its subalgebra generated by kG-module generators of V∗. This subalgebra is a quotient of a polynomial ring by pure powers of its variables. The coinvariant ring was known to have this property only when G was cyclic of prime order [M. Sezer, Decomposing modular coinvariants, J. Algebra423 (2015), 87-92]. In addition, we show that if G is the Klein 4-group and V does not contain an indecomposable summand isomorphic to the regular module, then the Hilbert Ideal is a complete intersection, extending a result of the second author and Shank [M. Sezer and R. J. Shank, Rings of invariants for modular representations of the Klein four group, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 368 (2016), 5655-5673].The second author is supported by a grant from TÜBITAK:114F42
Menopause Timing, and Symptom burden in Norwegian women
Abstract
Background: Menopause significantly impacts women's health, with early menopause linked to an increased chronic disease risk. Understanding how reproductive history influences menopausal age and symptom severity is vital for preventive strategies and optimal management.
Aim: This thesis investigated how reproductive history (number of pregnancies, age at first/last live birth) influences the timing of natural menopause (early and premature onset) and subsequent symptom severity within the Norwegian MoBa cohort.
Methodology: This cohort study utilized MoBa data (Q1 pregnancy questionnaire and Q2024 ‘Women’s Health questionnaire’). Outcomes included age at natural menopause and symptom severity; exposures were number of pregnancies and age at first/last live birth. Logistic regression, controlling for confounders (education, smoking, BMI), was used to examine associations with early/premature menopause.
Results: Among 9497 women (mean age at first/last live birth: 29.5/35.6 years), parity was not associated with menopause timing. However, later age at first (>30 years) and last live birth (>35 years) increased early menopause likelihood. Women with early menopause (30) and last live birth increased odds, while early first live birth (<25) reduced odds.
Conclusion: Childbirth timing was a more robust determinant of menopausal onset than parity. Later first and last live births consistently increased early/premature menopause risk; early first live birth was protective against premature menopause. Early menopause was linked to more severe symptoms. Findings highlight the reproductive timeline influences both the onset of menopause and subsequent quality of life, with important implications for nursing—such as improved assessment and proactive counseling—and future research, including studies exploring underlying biological and social pathways, qualitative investigations, and the development of targeted nursing interventions.

Can digital storytelling improve health outcomes for immigrant and refugee populations? A scoping review
Abstract Background Digital storytelling (DST) combines narrative art with digital technology, and in doing so provides a medium for individuals, especially those within immigrant and refugee communities, to share their health experiences. While DST has been explored as a tool for improving health communication and literacy, its effectiveness remains uncertain due to methodological limitations in existing studies. Objectives This review examined the use of DST in promoting health outcomes among immigrant and refugee communities, identified common challenges and best practices, and highlighted gaps in research and practice concerning DST’s use in these populations. Methods The review used Arksey and O’Malley’s methodology to systematically explore the literature on DST’s effects on health outcomes in immigrant and refugee groups. It searched the MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, PsychoInfo, and CINAHL databases for peer-reviewed research articles published in English up to February 15, 2025. The extracted data were categorized into four themes: DST and Health Outcomes, Challenges and Limitations, Best Practices and Effective Strategies, and Research and Practice Gaps. Results DST has been applied in diverse healthcare contexts, including HPV vaccination promotion, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes), and mental health interventions. Some studies reported improvements in health knowledge, self-care behaviors, and psychological well-being. However, the strength of evidence is limited, as most studies employed qualitative or quasi-experimental methods, relied on self-reported outcomes, and had small sample sizes. Challenges to DST implementation included technological barriers, digital literacy issues, feasibility concerns, and the need for culturally tailored interventions. Conclusions DST shows promise as a culturally adaptable tool for health communication, but its effectiveness as a standardized health intervention remains unproven. Healthcare practitioners may consider DST as a complementary strategy for education and behavioral support in specific areas, such as vaccination campaigns and chronic disease management. However, further high-quality, controlled studies are necessary to evaluate its long-term impact, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness before widespread implementation. Future research should prioritize rigorous methodologies, objective outcome measures, and longitudinal assessments to establish DST’s role in public health interventions

A Comprehensive Analysis of COVID-19 Misinformation, Public Health Impacts, and Communication Strategies: Scoping Review
BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic was marked by an infodemic, characterized by the rapid spread of both accurate and false information, which significantly affected public health. This infodemic led to confusion, mistrust in health authorities, noncompliance with health guidelines, and engagement in risky health behaviors. Understanding the dynamics of misinformation during the pandemic is crucial for developing effective public health communication strategies.
ObjectiveThis comprehensive analysis aimed to examine the complexities of COVID-19 misinformation. Specifically, it sought to identify the sources and themes of misinformation, the target audiences most affected, and the effectiveness of various public health communication strategies in mitigating misinformation.
MethodsThis scoping review used the MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase, and Scopus databases to identify relevant studies. An established, methodical framework for scoping reviews was used to review literature published between December 2019 and September 2023. The inclusion criteria focused on peer-reviewed studies published in English that address COVID-19 misinformation and its sources, themes, and target audiences, as well as the effectiveness of public health communication strategies.
ResultsThe scoping review identified that misinformation significantly impacted mental health, vaccine hesitancy, and health care decision-making. Social media and traditional media were major conduits for spreading misinformation. Key misinformation themes included the origins of the virus, ineffective treatments, and misunderstandings about public health measures. Misinformation sources ranged from social media platforms to traditional media outlets and informal networks. The impact of misinformation was found to vary across different regions and demographic groups, with vulnerable populations being disproportionately affected. Effective strategies to counter misinformation included enhancing health literacy; using digital technology; promoting clear, authoritative communication; and implementing fact-checking mechanisms. In addition, community engagement and targeted health campaigns played a crucial role in addressing misinformation.
ConclusionsThe review emphasizes the critical need for accurate and consistent messaging to combat misinformation. Cooperative efforts among policy makers, health professionals, and communication experts are essential for developing effective interventions. Addressing the infodemic is vital for building a well-informed, health-literate society capable of handling misinformation in future global health crises. The study provides valuable insights into the dynamics of misinformation and highlights the importance of robust public health communication strategies. These findings can guide future efforts to mitigate the impact of misinformation during health emergencies
