Festival PAN
Dissertation about Festival PAN was created in order to academically research Festival of mime and movement theater PAN in Liptovský Mikuláš and its 20 years of existence. The dissertation briefly covers personality of a founder and main organiser of the festival Miroslav Kasprzyk and his Studio of mime Kasprzyk, whose members were participating in festival competition and in time became inseparable part of organisation team of the festival. My information sources about history of PAN came from archive of Miroslav Kasprzyk, festival bulletins in electronic or paper finish. The most valuable source for my dissertation was questionaire, that I sent in electronic form to the members of Studio of mime Kasprzyk, the lectors, the participants, to the teachers at Basic art schools, who are coming every year to the festival PAN to compete and learn in workshops and to few proffesionals who are inspiration for children for their future
Festival PAN
Dissertation about Festival PAN was created in order to academically research Festival of mime and movement theater PAN in Liptovský Mikuláš and its 20 years of existence. Kasprzyk airfoil. The first wind-tunnel tests
The Kasprzyk slotted flap glider airfoil (the Kasper wing) enabling glider flight at 32 km/h and 0.5 m/sec descent speed was wind tunnel tested in the U.S. The test layout is described and reasons offered for discrepancies between wind tunnel results and Polish in flight data: high induced drag caused by relative size of model wing span and tunnel, by vortex attenuators on the model and their proximity to the tunnel wall, nonsimilarity between flow over a smooth wing and flow over the Kasprzyk wing with bound vortices, obstruction of the tunnel test chamber cross section by the model wing, discrepant Reynolds numbers, and model airfoil aspect ratio much smaller than the prototype. The overall results offer partial confirmation of the Kasprzyk theory, but further in tunnel and in flight studies are recommended
Frogs, people and the world of meanings – problems of sustainable development in Poland
In the article author discusses problem of connection between environmental policy, social and cultural life in Poland. When talking about sustainable development, we should keep in mind not only statistic data related to local communities but also meanings that they put to natural environment. Do authorities take citizens opinion into consideration at all? Do ecological organizations see correlation between protection of nature and protection of cultural values? Is creating such a link possible at all? These and many other questions are considered according to field research conducted by author in Białowieża.Udostępnienie publikacji Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego finansowane w ramach projektu „Doskonałość naukowa kluczem do doskonałości kształcenia”. Ethnodesign – the tradition and the present time. An attempt of a contemporary comment
The article describes ethnodesign, understood as a synonym of material creativity which draws on the models of traditional craft and folk art. The author treats ethnodesign as an idea in which we should notice a number of senses and complex actions, aimed at the revival in the context of contemporary culture. The revival of general forms, principles and values which are the basis of life in traditional folk culture. The author presents an extensive outline of the history of Polish ethnodesign, starting from the end of 19th century to the beginning of 21st century; she illustrates the links with folklorism, she indicates the need of multi-faceted understanding of its contemporary sociocultural functions. She states that, firstly, ethnodesign should be understood as a collection of items which use styles, patterns, materials and forms taken from folk culture; secondly, what is important is the significance of ethnodesign in the system of relationships and social activities that are initiated in the process of making items of this kind. And thirdly, ethnodesign may serve to evoke traditional way of thinking and perceiving the world and refer to former elementary values, norms and principles known from the folk culture. The author emphasizes the need of liberating contemporary ethnodesign from stereotypical associations and the necessity of noticing its important role in the contemporary culture, which, in different ways, seeks alternative to everything that is unified, global, identical and temporary. Ethnodesign understood in this way can help to open to cultural diversity, close and distant traditions, and can also help build more aware and committed participation in culture, its tradition and present social life.Udostępnienie publikacji Wydawnictwa Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego finansowane w ramach projektu „Doskonałość naukowa kluczem do doskonałości kształcenia”. On K-moduli of quartic threefolds
The family of smooth Fano 3-folds with Picard rank 1 and anticanonical volume 4 consists of quartic 3-folds and of double covers of the 3-dimensional quadric branched along an octic surface. They can all be parametrised as complete intersections of a quadric and a quartic in the weighted projective space P(1,1,1,1,1,2), denoted by X_{2,4} \subset P(1,1,1,1,1,2); all such smooth complete intersections are K-stable. With the aim of investigating the compactification of the moduli space of quartic 3-folds given by K-stability, we exhibit three phenomena: (i) there exist K-polystable complete intersection Fano 3-folds X_{2,2,4} \subset P(1^5,2^2) which deform to quartic 3-folds and are neither quartic 3-folds nor double covers of quadric 3-folds – in other words, the closure of the locus parametrising complete intersections X_{2,4} \subset P(1^5,2) in the K-moduli contains elements that are not of this type; (ii) any quasi-smooth X_{2,2,4} \subset P(1^5,2^2) is K-polystable; (iii) the closure in the K-moduli space of the locus parametrising complete intersections X_{2,2,4} \subset P(1^5,2^2) which are not complete intersections X_{2,4} \subset P(1^5,2) contains only points which correspond to complete intersections X_{2,2,4} \subset P(1^5,2^2)
