Classificação de solos usada em levantamentos pedológicos no Brasil.
Nature of the system; diagnostic horizons and diagnostic properties; soil classes and their definitions; correlation between soil classes of Brazilian-SNLCS, FAO and Soil Taxonomy systems. Brazilian soil science is in its infancy. In studies before 1947 soils were mainly classified in relation to parent material or geomorphological units. In 1947 a national soil science society and survey institution were founded. A programme of reconnaissance soil surveys of Brazil started with the survey of the state of Rio de Janeiro in 1954. At present the entire country has been mapped at the exploratory level, with about 20% at exploratory-reconnaissance level, plus 15% at reconnaissance level and a rather small percentage at more detailed levels.Reprint from Annual Report 1896, published in 1987. Senator Henry M. Jackson with Voice of Democracy contest winner, Ed Kauffman, at the Senator's desk in Washington D.C., February 1959
Note filed with photograph: Speaking for Democracy -- Ed Kauffman, 17, Washington State winner of the recent 'Voice of Democracy' contest, sits beside U.S. Sen. Henry M. Jackson (D., Wash.) at the Senator's desk in Washington, D.C. They are going over Ed's prize-winning script, 'I Speak for Democracy.' The young winner, a Central Valley High School senior and the son of Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Kauffman of Veradale, received an all-expenses-paid trip to the nation's capitol for winning the state contest. The contest was sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters and the Electronic Industries Association in cooperation with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. (Cutlines only. Mailed 2-25-59
Understanding the Entrepreneur: An Index of Entrepreneurial Success
A measure of entrepreneur success is important to identify current and future successful ventures, to further our understanding of the entrepreneurial process and to guide public policies to improve the success rate of start-ups. In this paper we propose an index of entrepreneur success that accommodates multiple inputs and outputs, that is predicated on inputs and that mitigates the impact of outliers. We relate the index to characteristics of the entrepreneur and the venture: age, experience, gender, race, competitive advantage, education, and birthplace. The data are from the Kauffman Firm Survey. The index is calculated for 2,863 firms in 2006.entrepreneur, Kauffman Survey, Financial Economics, Productivity Analysis,
Exact dynamics of the critical Kauffman model with connectivity one
The critical Kauffman model with connectivity one is the simplest class of
critical Boolean networks. Nevertheless, it exhibits intricate behavior at the
boundary of order and chaos. We introduce a formalism for expressing the
dynamics of multiple loops as a product of the dynamics of individual loops.
Using it, we prove that the number of attractors scales as , where is
the number of nodes in loops - as fast as possible, and much faster than
previously believed
A basis for the Kauffman skein module of the product of a surface and a circle
International audienceThe Kauffman bracket skein module S(M) of a 3-manifold M is a Q(A)-vector space spanned by links in M modulo the so-called Kauffman relations. For any closed oriented surface Sigma we provide an explicit spanning family for the skein modules S(Sigma x S-1). Combined with earlier work of Gilmer and Masbaum (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 147 (2019) 4091-4106), we answer their question about the dimension of S(Sigma x S-1) being 2(2g+1) + 2g-1
