No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Thermoelectric properties of semiconducting metal-organic framework thin films and composites
No full textIn order to study the potential application and efficiency of semiconducting metal organic frameworks (MOFs) as materials for thermoelectric generators (TEG), 2- dimensional and 3- dimensional frameworks have been selected as initial targets. The 2-D framework employed in this investigation possess a honeycomb-like structure, containing Cu ions as nodes and coordinated to hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP) organic ligands. In addition, principle experimental studies on the incorporation of molecular iodine on thin films of this framework, Cu3(HHTP)2, via incipient wetness impregnation is demonstrated as an effective route to enhance its thermoelectric performance. Furthermore, the solvothermal synthesis and thermoelectric characterisation of a semiconducting 3-D MOF comprised of divalent FeII/III ions coordinated to tetrahydroxybenzoquinone (THBQ) organic moieties and core-shell like structures constituting Fe-THBQ coated Bi2Te3 nanowires are reported for the first time, expanding the scope of MOF heterostructures in energy conversion technologies. Thermoelectric measurements were performed on MOF pellets and thin films. The incorporation of MOFs as thin films provides a route for the design of new devices, although this is still an issue that is derived from the micro-sized crystals and their poor solubility in any solvent. Especially for those MOFs that exhibit electrical conductivity, the deposition of MOFs onto a given substrate is becoming important in order to assess them in practical applications such as chemical sensors, catalytic coatings and other electronic nanodevices. The fabrication of MOF thin films was conducted via electrochemical and dip coating techniques. The study of different structures of MOFs and their performance as TEGs is expected to expand and offer alternatives to non-toxic, scalable and high-efficiency novel TE material

Evaluation of the nutritional situation of the students of the "Benito Juarez" Elementary School according to the Body Mass Index. Jose Maria Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico
No full textIntroduction. The Body Mass Index, also called the Quetelet Index, is a measurement (kg/m²) used as an indicator of weight adequacy for a given height. The resulting value is interpreted as an indicator of different nutritional situations, both physiological (normal weight) and pathological (low weight, overweight and obesity). Objective. To evaluate the nutritional situation of the students of the "Benito Juarez" Elementary School in the Maya municipality of Jose Maria Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico, during the period from June 3, 2019, to July 12, 2020. Material and methods. Cross–sectional descriptive observational epidemiological study without directionality and with prospective temporality. One hundred and twenty–eight students from "Benito Juarez" Elementary School were evaluated. As a hypothesis test or statistical significance test, the Mantel–Haenszel Chi–Square statistic (x²M–H) was used. Likewise, the Epi Info software for Windows, version 7.1.4.0, was used to obtain the values of both the x²M–H statistic and the probability (p). Results. Fifty–four (42.19%), 70 (54.69%), 3 (2.34%) and 1 (0.78%) students presented low weight, normal weight, overweight and obesity, respectively. Conclusion. It is concluded that the students of the "Benito Juarez" Elementary School present health problems with respect to their nutritional situation, since 45.31% (58/128) have a pathological nutritional situation (low weight, overweight and obesity).

Este livro se destaca por ser o primeiro livro de imagens de um autor brasileiro reconhecido pelos pesquisadores que estudam a literatura infantil. Para a realização deste ensaio buscou-se conhecer a biografia do artista e principalmente o processo de criação de seus livros de imagens
