This article will examine the political imagery created for an unusual patron, and used for an equally seldom discussed function. The objects of this discussion will be the emblematic decoration of banners, created as the main artefacts in a political spectacle devised by Vikentije Jovanovic (1731-1734), the Orthodox archbishop of Karlovci. The spectacle in question was the inauguration ceremony of the Illirian-Rascian regiment he founded in 1735.Postprin
This work examines gender ideologies in the most recent SFL textbooks. Traditionally branded as sexist (Instituto de la Mujer, 1996), these teaching materials have been transformed in the last decade thanks to strong pressure from the academic community (Kuzmanovic Jovanovic y Djuricic, 2015), resulting in more balanced and equitable gender representations. There has even been a phenomenon of «feminization» of these books (Copley, 2017; Kuzmanovic Jovanovic, 2020). However, it has been postulated that this feminization is superficial and a consequence of the influence of neoliberal ideology, which imposes «an ideal of independent, entrepreneurial and successful people, both for men and women» (Kuzmanovic Jovanovic, 2020: 162). This analysis is based on the conclusions of previous works that explore gender ideologies in SFL textbooks (Kuzmanovic Jovanovic, 2016, 2019; Kuzmanovic Jovanovic y Djuricic, 2015, 2016), trying to find the pattern behind the representations of women in a very recent corpus (three collections of ELE manuals published in the last three years by three large Spanish publishers). The results of the analysis show that, despite a predominance of female characters, a variety of female experiences are missing in these books, since the predominant female figure is modeled after the neoliberal ideal. Thus even the feminization of SFL manuals serves not to promote true gender equality and social justice, but to maintain the social status quo.

Bourgeois Balkans: world-building in Belgrade and Sofia 1830-1912
This dissertation examines the transformation of urban life in the Balkan capitals of Belgrade and Sofia between 1830 and 1912. In the nineteenth century, mayors, planners, doctors and intellectuals envisioned a new, urban society in which progressive social transformation could emerge through a combination of political and economic institutions based on expertise. I explore the ambitions and limits of this “bourgeois world-building” through three constitutive processes: the production of space, the gendered transformation of intimate labor, and the re-calibration of state violence. With the advent of autonomous rule, the Balkan capitals were reconstructed as “European” cities through dispossession, real-estate speculation and municipal corruption. For architects, merchant capitalists, and municipal officials, the post-Ottoman city appeared as a landscape of accumulation, a vision often frustrated by its failure to materialize in full. Medical professionals and police officials envisioned the city as a space of managed, commodified intimacy, yet found limits in expanding institutional control over sex workers, domestic servants, and other working women. Activists and state actors were likewise frustrated in their attempts to create productive urban subjects through scientific policing and prison labor. Ultimately, the application of bourgeois visions was both intensive and costly, limited by the scope of elite ambitions and the struggle of those who were excluded from them.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2018-12-01The student, Milos Jovanovic, accepted the attached license on 2016-12-02 at 13:57.The student, Milos Jovanovic, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2016-12-02 at 13:58.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2016-12-02 at 14:26.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #10419 on 2017-02-28 at 14:43:05Made available in DSpace on 2017-03-01T17:02:01Z (GMT). Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Nyckelord: IAS 36, goodwillnedskrivning, kreditbetyg.Abstract Title: How does goodwill impairments affect companies bond rating? - A quantitative study of European companies Level: Student thesis, final assignment for Bachelor Degree in Business Administration Author: Danilo Jovanovic and Sven Nelson Supervisor: Jan Svanberg Date: 2019 - June Aim: The application of IASB’s controversial and fair value-based standard of accounting, IFRS, became mandatory for listed European corporations through a statue passed by the European parliament in 2005. A severe criticism has been aimed at the framing of the standard throughout the years, due to the high degree of subjectivity in connection to goodwill impairments. In parallel, bonds have grown to become an even more significant source of finance for European companies. The aim of this thesis is to examine whether goodwill impairments, in accordance with IAS 36, have an impact on companies’ bond ratings. Method: The study is conducted in the positivist tradition with a hypothetical-deductive research approach. The study has a quantitative research strategy including the years 2013-2017. Secondary data for the listed European companies (not including UK) have been collected using Thomson Reuters Datastream and Thomson Reuters Eikon. The sample consists of 76 companies. The hypothesis is tested by using a regression analysis with the ordered logit model in IBM SPSS Statistics 24. Result & Conclusions: The result from the study confirms that goodwill impairments have a negative impact on companies’ bond ratings. Therefore, the study reaches the conclusion that the relationship also applies in a European context where the accounting standard IAS 36 is applied. Contribution of the thesis: This thesis contributes to present accounting literature by filling a gap regarding how company factors affect bond ratings. This by its specific focus on the subjective characteristics of a factor and its impact on bond ratings. Furthermore, this study contributes to the literature by examining the relation between goodwill devaluation according to IAS 36 and bond ratings, and by contributing to practicians such as bond issuers, investors and standard setters for improved decision. Suggestions for future research: As the creditworthiness of a company is multidimensional, this study is limited by focusing on specific company factors. The study is also limited geographically, time periodically and company characteristically. This thesis proposes further research by basing future research on a more diversified geographical context. This to enable the exploration of possibilities to generalize relevant results and findings. Further suggestions would be to study how other company factors affect the bond rating, to create a more profound understanding of the multidimensional assessment of a companies’ credit reliability. Key words: IAS 36, goodwill impairment, bond ratings
Coherent nonlinear electromagnetic drift-mode structures
The nonlinear dynamics of an inhomogeneous plasma with hot electrons and cold ions, in the frequency range below the ion cyclotron and magnetosonic frequencies, is studied in the presence of magnetic shear. Both the finite electron mass and electron stress-tenser effects are accounted for, permiting arbitrary parallel phase velocities. A class of nonlinear travelling solutions is found, which are fully determined by the boundary conditions in the infinity, even on closed nonlinear characteristics. For the typical tokamak scaling beta < (L-n/L-3)(2), two different regimes are distinguished. In the shear Alfven regime, beta much less than m(e)/m(i), the solution has the form of a complex vortex chain, possessing both the magnetic and flow components, supported by a self-organized localized plasma flow and poloidal field. In the drift-wave regime, m(e)/m(i) much less than beta much less than 1, the solution is a nonlinear electromagnetic drift wave, whose amplitude is determined by its wavelength and the angle of propagation
Other and Self-Representation: A Pentadic Criticism of Kosovar Muslim and Roma Identity as Represented in Photographs by James Nachtwey and Djordje Jovanovic
This is an interdisciplinary study that integrates the fields of visual rhetoric, media, and identity. This study seeks to gain a better understanding of photojournalism as the medium of rhetorical messages and communicative power in terms of representing the identity, experience, and perspective of Kosovar Muslims and Roma in Other and self-representations. By applying Kenneth Burke’s theory of dramatism and pentadic criticism, I seek to illustrate and analyze how an outsider, James Nachtwey, uses rhetorical appeals to represent Kosovar Muslims during the Kosovo War of 1999 and how an insider, Djordje Jovanovic, uses rhetorical appeals to represent Kosovar Roma during 2006-2007. In combination with Burke’s pentad, I also use Stuart Hall’s theories of representation and identity construction and contestation; Roland Barthes’ theory of visual rhetoric; and semiotics to expand in my analysis. Moreover, I apply the concepts of objectivity, subjectivity, voyeurism, and compassion fatigue in my analysis. I argue that Nachtwey depicted the struggles and damage of the Kosovo War, but while doing so, enforced American values and interests. I also argue that Kosovar Roma were more aptly represented by Jovanovic, who is a Kosovar himself. I suggest that as digital technology and Internet access become more widely available, it is important to empower minorities to visually represent their own groups and circumstances through photojournalism. I conclude that media consumers must be critical of the photojournalistic representations they consume of other cultures, while simultaneously being aware of the social identity of the author of those rhetorical artifacts
Bernstein-Greene-Kruskal chain of drift-tearing vortices
Collisionless magnetic reconnection in the driftwave plasma regime, rho(s,i)much greater than d(e), is studied using a drift-kinetic description of electrons and fluid ions. A fully nonlinear Bernstein-Greene-Kruskal (BGK) stationary solution is constructed which has the form of a quasi-three-dimensional chain of electron holes coupled to hydrodynamic vortices. This stationary structure is obtained by setting up a plateau in the electron distribution function, followed by the trapping and consecutive depletion of resonant particles, and by the removal of the singular current layers by their short-circuiting via electron gyrations.
