Sonolytic and ultrasound-assisted hydrogen production: insights, trends, and future perspectives
This study employs the bibliometric review method to assess the evolution of research in sonolytic and ultrasound-assisted hydrogen production between 2000 and 2025 using data from the Scopus database. The study found research done so far as a dynamic, cross-disciplinary field driven by global decarbonization and technological innovation. Keyword and thematic mapping identified a central focus towards maximizing the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with the assistance of ultrasound catalysis, with advanced materials like g-C3N4, TiO2, and quantum dots. Emerging themes of piezocatalysis, biohydrogen, and ultrasonication-enhanced pretreatment indicate a trend towards multifunctional, sustainable, and bio-integrated processes. The clustering analysis identified distinct strategic research directions, including visible-light-driven heterojunctions, anticorrosion electrodes, ultrasonic fermentation, and hybrid catalytic systems integrating sonochemistry with photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and thermochemical reforming. Non-noble metal catalysts and nanostructures enabled by sonication are especially gaining prominence owing to their efficiency and scalability. The country-level analysis revealed a commanding position for China, with growing contributions from India, South Korea, and strategic international collaborations. Together, the field is transitioning from fundamental research to application-oriented innovation, and the future opportunity rests in scalable, hybrid systems that integrate ultrasonic, optical, and biochemical processes. These findings suggest that ultrasound-assisted hydrogen generation may contribute to advances in sustainable energy technologies and potential industrial implementation
ERGA-BGE genome of Erebia palarica Chapman, 1905: a montane butterfly endemic to North-West Spain
The reference genome of Erebia palarica (Chapman’s ringlet; Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae, Satyrinae) provides valuable insights into evolutionary and conservation genomics. On one hand, it paves the way to unravel the speciation processes, reproductive barriers, and potential hybridisation between E. palarica and its closely related sister species, Erebia meolans. On the other hand, this genomic resource will be key for the genetic monitoring of this narrowly endemic species, restricted to the Cantabrian Mountains (NW Spain), facilitating the use of genomic data to estimate population genetic parameters. The genome of a female individual was assembled into 13 phased contiguous autosomes, two sex chromosomes (W and Z), and one mitochondrial genome. This chromosome-level assembly encompasses 0.51 Gb and has no gaps, making this a telomere-to-telomere (T2T) genome assembly. The assembly is composed of 15 contigs with an N50 value of 36.4 Mb
In this study we will investigate the legal protection of tenants, known as "besittningsskydd", in the context of extensive renovations and the conversion of rental apartments into tenant-owned units in Sweden. The study aims to clarify how this protection operates in practice and whether current legislation provides sufficient safeguards for tenants facing such changes. To address these questions, a combination of legal dogmatic and qualitative methods was employed. The legal dogmatic approach involved systematic analysis of statutes, legislative history, case law, and legal doctrine to determine the applicable rules and principles. This was complemented by qualitative interviews with experts from the Swedish Rent Tribunal and property management, providing practical insights into how the law is applied and experienced by stakeholders. The findings reveal that, while Swedish law offers robust theoretical protection for tenants, practical challenges remain—especially for economically vulnerable groups and in urban areas with housing shortages. The law requires a careful balance between the tenant’s right to security and the property owner’s interest in developing their property. In practice, outcomes can vary depending on individual circumstances, such as the availability and suitability of alternative housing and the tenant’s personal situation. The study concludes that, although the legislative intent is clear, there is a need for further legal development and clearer guidelines to ensure equal and effective protection for all tenants
The study shows that annual fees in housing cooperatives are primarily adjusted through small, regular increases, and that decisions are driven by risk management, maintenance plans, energy costs, and interest rates on loans. Cooperatives that work strategically with these factors achieve greater financial stability and long-term balance. Finally, the study demonstrates that strategic decision-making, taking both financial and energy-related factors into account, contributes to stable and sustainable fee levels
Preschool teachers' experiences of friendship in the workplace
This study aims to investigate preschool teachers' experiences of friendship in the workplace and what significance it may have for the pedagogical leadership in the work team. Semi-structured interviews were used as a method to collect empirical material. The thematic analysis of the empirical data is based on Aristotle's three different friendship perspectives, where each perspective implies specific conditions between parties in a friendship relationship. These friendship perspectives can be understood as different levels of friendship. The results of the study show how these levels are expressed and under what circumstances preschool teachers need to set aside certain forms of friendship in order to maintain professionalism in their workplace. Friendship in the workplace appears multifaceted, where it is partly experienced as positive and strengthening for the community between colleagues, and partly friendship in the workplace can lead to loyalty dilemmas
Dynamic concept drift detection using an integrated machine learning model with error-based Page-Hinkley Test for enhanced predictive accuracy in adhesive manufacturing process
In response to the need for dynamic adaptability in adhesive manufacturing, this paper introduces a machine learning model and a new error-based concept drift detection mechanism based on Page-Hinkley Test (PHT) which is a statistical method used for change point detection in time-series data for enhancing accuracy and robustness in adhesive manufacturing process. Upon its implementation, the model monitors the prediction error in the manufacturing process such that it dynamically adjusts its responses in the presence of significant deviation. The integrated machine learning and PHT-based approach successfully detected multiple drift points, starting at t = 1,007 and going up to t = 1,342, which covers both abrupt and gradual shifts. Contrasting with the model, the study was able to work with only one pre-defined drift point, such as t = 1,000, after each detection of drift, the cumulative error resets, allowing the model to relearn from the present data distribution. This repeated recalibration yielded a final root mean square error (RMSE) of 2.0550, showing a great error reduction, thereby improving the product quality. This increased flexibility is very useful for adhesives production within the oil and gas industry, where variation in material quality, environmental conditions, or equipment performance might otherwise affect product quality. Compared with the traditional static model, the integrated machine learning and PHT-based system greatly improved the accuracy and response time of predictions, demonstrating its value in real-time quality control and defect rate minimization for manufacturing
Bridging the energy efficiency gaps: Lessons from the Swedish PFE programmes
Sweden implemented a unique policy instrument over two consecutive five-year periods aimed at promoting industrial energy efficiency: a voluntary agreement programme (VAP) known as the Programme for Improving Energy Efficiency in Energy-Intensive Industries (PFE). This paper evaluates the second programme period using process and impact evaluation approaches. The impact evaluation revealed that the programme generated numerous benefits beyond the implementation of energy efficiency measures. The second programme period demonstrated impacts comparable to the first, underscoring the pivotal role of energy management within policy frameworks. Moreover, the findings suggest that VAPs may be among the few policy instruments capable of achieving substantial impact within industrial production processes. The process evaluation identified two critical gaps: a policy gap and a knowledge gap. Many of the positive elements present in the evaluated programme are currently absent from Sweden’s industrial policy mix. The role of the policy operator—as facilitator or intermediary—proved essential, particularly in the context of policies involving energy audits and certified energy management systems. In this case, the Swedish Energy Agency played a central role. The study concludes that continuous energy management, when integrated throughout the entire organization, significantly enhances companies’ capacity to identify and implement energy efficiency measures. This approach not only deepens internal knowledge but also fosters the development of more structured and effective routines. Furthermore, the findings suggest that financial incentives may be essential to ensure the long-term persistence of energy efficiency practices. Consequently, future policy design should include a strong facilitator and incorporate mechanisms that both reinforce organizational knowledge of energy end-use processes and promote sustained engagement over time, preferably involving a financial incentive
Methodological insights from the inside: Developing autistic-friendly interviewing in a group interview space
Background: A neurodiversity-informed approach recognizes the perspectives and experiences of autistic people from an insider perspective, yet little attention has been given to adapting qualitative methods to account for the impact of cognition, sociality, and communication style of both interviewers and participants. The aim of this paper was to contribute to the development of autistic-friendly interviewing in a group interview space. Methods: The paper is a collective reflexive pilot study, exploring experiences of autistic interviewer and autistic participants in group interviews. The method followed five steps, from deciding what type of interview questions to use to test them in the group interviews. An autistic interviewer conducted three group interviews, each with two to three autistic participants. Interviews and analyses were conducted in Swedish, and the data were then translated into English by the authors. Results: The study identified key insights around four areas: participants’ mixed views on the interview guide, the need to accommodate autistic processing styles, the importance of recognizing autistic forms of sociality, and the significance of conducting interviews within an autistic-friendly space that fosters comfort and understanding. Conclusion: The paper outlines step by step the procedure of conducting group interviews with autistic people. We illustrate ways to capture the possibilities of autistic-friendly interviewing by working with—rather than against—autistic cognition, sociality, and communication styles in interviews with autistic people
