Cultures of Energy brings writers, artists and scholars together to talk, think and feel their way into the Anthropocene. We cover serious issues like climate change, species extinction and energy transition. But we also try to confront seemingly huge and insurmountable problems with insight, creativity and laughter.Water, water everywhere. The human sciences have become animated by the politics, ethics and materiality of water of late and for good reason. Our guest (11:13) on this week’s Cultures of Energy podcast was one of the first to get this conversation started. Anthropologist Veronica Strang, currently Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Study at Durham University, is the author of The Meaning of Water (Oxford, 2004) and Water: Culture and Nature (Reaktion, 2015) and a recipient of UNESCO’s International Water Prize. We talk about how the transgressive and transformative properties of water cut across cultures and how its material liquidity complicates our cultural and legal understandings of ownership and property. Veronica explains why we have to think water across scales, from its mediation of individual bodies to how its flows form communities. We talk about the infamous case of Bolivia’s water privatization, efforts to enclose water resources across the world and how contemporary politics of water are undermining democracy. Veronica also reminds us though that efforts to centralize control over water are ancient and that the movements that are now seeking to decentralize water resources also have hope. In closing we discuss cosmological and mythological water beings ranging from rainbow serpents to Chinese water dragons to the Lambton Worm, reputed to live in Durham’s own River Wear. Is our concern with hydration and floods these days informed by the moral economy and sacred vitality of water? Summary
There is indicated the results of the investigation of lipophilic fraction obtained from the herbs of Veronica chamaedrys L. and Veronica officinalis L., determined the yield of the lipophilic fraction in relation to the raw materials, settled the content of fatty acids in lipophilic extract. It is noted that linoleic and linolenic fatty acids dominated in the investigation materials.

Film merupakan salah satu bentuk karya sastra berbentuk audio visual yang
memiliki fungsi sebagai media perantara dalam menyampaikan pesan. Film muncul
sebagai kritik gambaran yang sebenarnya mengenai masyarakat. Amanat atau nilainilai
selalu hadir dalam penyajian dalam sebuah film. Penelitian ini menggunakan
objek berupa film yang berjudul Soul Snatcher/赤狐书生 Chì Hú Shū Shēng karya
Jiang Zhiqiang. Film ini menceritakan tentang hubungan yang tidak terduga antara
siluman rubah dan seorang cendekiawan. Penelitian ini membahas tentang bentuk
nilai moral dan faktor yang melatarbelakanginya dengan menggunakan teori
sosiologi sastra. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif.
Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kutipan berupa dialog dan
monolog tokoh utama. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 44 bentuk nilai moral yang
dilakukan oleh tokoh utama 白十三 Bai Shisan dan 王子进 Wang Zijin yang terdiri
atas 7 nilai kejujuran, 7 nilai keberanian, 2 nilai kerendahan hati, 2 nilai kerja keras,
5 nilai rela berkorban, 2 nilai kesabaran, 3 nilai bertanggung jawab, 1 berbohong, 3
nilai pantang menyerah, 2 nilai kerja sama, 2 nilai suka menolong, 7 nilai kasih
sayang, dan 1 nilai musyawarah. Ditemukan juga 44 faktor yang melatarbelakangi
upaya perwujudan nilai moral yang terdiri atas 11 perbuatan sendiri, 13 motif, dan
20 keadaan atau situasi
