Alexis karpouzos (born on April 09, 1967) is a philosopher, author, spiritual master and pioneer of higher consciousness. He is author of several books on philosophy, metaphysics, spirituality, modern science. His most famous books are: ‘’Universal consciousness’’, ‘’non-duality’’, ‘’An ocean of souls’’, ‘’Beyond the heaven’’. Alexis Karpouzos is also a recording artist. He has recorded two music albums and twenty-four singles songs. He has also appeared in two documentary films, television and radio productions. He is the pioneer of the post-ontology consciousness and the wisdom of universal wholeness. The global language of poetry of Alexis Karpouzos, by following the paths of wisdom, is a vehicle for transmitting human knowledge and values, history, ancient traditions, and links with nature. It transmits the human values and worldly knowledge that are essential for opening ourselves to the Other. Poetic creation, therefore, forges very strong links between humans -it transcends beyond languages, beliefs and cultures. Each poem appears in its original form, in a vibrant celebration of life, diversity, language, and the enduring power of poetry. Cardiac MRI : development of a semi-automatic processing softwrare to study left ventricular trabeculation.
La non compaction du ventricule gauche est une pathologie rare, avec une incidence chez l’adulte estimée à 0,014 %. Son pronostic est mal connu, avec une symptomatologie variable (insuffisance cardiaque, trouble du rythme cardiaque, épisodes emboliques) pouvant aller jusqu’à la transplantation cardiaque et au décès.Il n’existe pas de gold standard diagnostique. Une non compaction est suspectée devant un aspect hypertrabéculé du myocarde avec un épaississement de la couche non compactée et de profonds récessus. Certains auteurs ont proposé des critères 2D basés sur des rapports de longueurs entre couche compactée et non compactée comme Jenni et al en échographie cardiaque ou Petersen et al en IRM. Jacquier et al ont proposé une mesure de la masse non compactée totale en utilisant le volume complet de l’acquisition IRM mais avec une segmentation manuelle incluant le sang entre les trabéculations.L’objectif de ce travail est la mise au point d’un logiciel de segmentation semi automatique de la trabéculation en IRM cardiaque pour avoir des mesures plus précises et reproductibles des trabécules en supprimant le sang. Le logiciel a été validé techniquement sur des IRM 1,5 et 3 Tesla de pratique clinique courante. Il permet une segmentation précise et reproductible en 15 minutes de la masse compactée et non compactée du myocarde. Les mesures de masse ont été comparées à des mesures histologiques réelles sur modèle murin, avec une corrélation excellente. Le logiciel a été testé sur une large cohorte de patients sains, permettant de définir les valeurs normales de trabéculation par tranche d’âge et par sexe. Il est en cours de validation sur les patients atteints de non compaction.Left ventricular non-compaction is a rare cardiomyopathy with an incidence of 0,014 % in adult patients. Its prognosis remains little known. Untreated, it can lead to heart failure, cardioembolic events, tachyarythmia, heart transplant and death.Non compaction is suspected on echocardiography or CMR when a characteristic double-layered aspect of the myocardium with a thick, non-compacted endocardial layer, prominent trabeculations and deep recesses are observed, but there is no gold standard for the diagnosis. Some have proposed 2D criteria based on ratios of lengths between compacted and non compacted layers evaluated by sonography or MRI. Jacquier and al have proposed a quantification of the total amount of LV trabeculation on CMR but with a manual contouring including blood inside the trabeculae.Our purpose was the development of a semi-automatic software package to calculate the non-compacted mass that suppresses blood from the trabeculae and evaluates the total amount of compacted and non compacted mass. The feasibility of this trabeculation quantification algorithm was illustrated in multicenter, multivendor 1,5 and 3 T MRI. The software allows a precise and reproductible segmentation in about 15 mins. The quantification software was compared with histology, and tested for accuracy and reproducibility in a mouse model of non-compaction. The software was tested in a large cohort of healthy subjects to provide the range of normal values of trabeculae across age and gender. Clinical validation on patients with non compaction is in progress

This story can be classified as a personal narrative fiction story, written in a stream of consciousness from the author. The grade level that is most appropriate is 3rd to 5th grade. If physics leads us today to a world view which is essentially holistic, it returns, in a way, to its beginning, 2,500 years ago. It is interesting to follow the evolution of Western science along its spiral path, starting from the mystical philosophies of the early Greeks, rising and unfolding in an impressive development of intellectual thought that increasingly turned away from its mystical origins to develop a world view which is in sharp contrast to that of the Far East In its most recent stages, Western science is finally overcoming this view and coming back to those of the early Greek and the Eastern philosophies. This time, however, it is not only based on intuition, but also on experiments of great precision and sophistication, and on a rigorous and consistent mathematical formalism. The parallels to modem physics appear not only in the Vedas of Hinduism, in the I Ching , or in the Buddhist sutras, but also in the fragments of Heraclitus, Parmenides, Plotinus, African-American philosophy, the eastern negative theology, in the Sufism of lbn Arabi, in the holistic spirit of Giordano Bruno and Meister Eckhart, in monadology of Leibniz, in the Absolute Idea of Hegel and Shelling, e.t.
All ancient spiritual traditions suggest that the world is a unity and the multiplicity is only apparent. Modern science claims that the visible world of matter and the multiplicity is only apparent, the reality is unseen and invisible. Since different roads the mysticism and the rationalism lead to the same view, the view of the open totality of the world. The mystical insight of spirituality and the rational mind of science leading to the open thought, the wisdom of life. The spiritual experience of oneness conduces to the same insight as reasoning through science. Both convey the insight of fundamental interconnection between ourselves, other people, other forms of life, the biosphere and, ultimately, the universe. Science and spirituality, far from being mutually exclusive and conflicting elements, are complementary partners in the search for the path that can enable humanity to recover its oneness with the world. Science demonstrates the urgent and objective need for it; and spirituality testifies to its inherent value and supreme desirability. We can reason to our oneness in the world, and we can experience our oneness with the world. The time has come to do both, for they are complementary and mutually reinforcing.

Multimodality imaging in cardiology : application to the assessment of aortic bioprostheses
L’incidence et la prévalence des maladies valvulaires sont en augmentation, l’épidémiologie de ces maladies se modifie avec une prépondérance des maladies dégénératives, et le traitement considéré est le plus souvent le remplacement valvulaire prothétique, notamment dans le cadre de la sténose aortique qui est la maladie valvulaire la plus fréquente. Les techniques de remplacement valvulaire et les prothèses valvulaires ont grandement évolué ces dernières années, notamment avec le développement des implantations de prothèses par voie percutanée. Cependant les substituts valvulaires aortiques biologiques sont exposés à des complications diverses mettant en jeu la fonction de la prothèse : fuite péri-prothétique, endocardite infectieuse, dégénérescence des tissus biologiques. Ces complications restent des challenges diagnostiques et l’échographie est l’imagerie de référence. Cependant, l’imagerie cardiaque et valvulaire a réalisé de grands progrès, et l’utilisation d’autres techniques ou modalités d’imagerie peut être une alternative ou un complément à l’exploration par échocardiographie : imagerie par scanner, imagerie par résonance magnétique, imagerie nucléaire. Le recours et la combinaison de ces différentes techniques s’intègrent dans une approche globale, nommée imagerie multimodale. L’objectif général de ce projet de doctorat a été d’étudier l’apport de l’imagerie multimodale dans la surveillance des bioprothèses aortiques et l’évaluation des complications et de la dégénérescence structurelle qui peuvent survenir.The incidence and prevalence of heart valve diseases are increasing worldwide. Their epidemiology also changes, and the required treatment is most often a prosthetic valve replacement, especially for aortic stenosis that is the most frequent heart valve disease. Techniques of valve replacement as well as prosthesis themselves have dramatically evolved in recent years, especially with the development of percutaneous transcatheter procedures. However, biologic aortic valve substitutes are at risk of several complications including prosthetic valve dysfunction, paravalvular regurgitation, infective endocarditis and structural valve deterioration. Correctly diagnose any of these complications still is a challenge but echocardiography plays a pivotal role and remains the gold-standard as per diagnostic imaging. Nonwithsanding the fact that echocardiography is the main imaging modality for valvular anomalies, great progress has been made in cardiac imaging and modalities like CT-Scan, MRI and nuclear imaging are nowadays regularly used along with echocardiography.
