Analysis of Textual Meaning and Melodic Structure of Three Pop Songs by Wiranis Production

    No full text
This research discusses the three most popular songs created by the Wiranis Production group sung by Anis Gea. Wiranis Production is a music management from Medan that successfully publishes regional pop songs using several regional languages from the province of North Sumatra. The Wiranis Production management team currently has three different YouTube platforms to publish all their works. Each channel is named Wiranis Production (Batak Toba songs), Gea Musik (Nias songs) and Wiranis Karo Musik (Batak Karo songs). There are three most popular songs sung by Anis Gea as a singer from the Wiranis Production management team. The songs are Andigan do Tuhan, Sama Dengan and Godang do Nian. The meaning of the text and the melodic structure of the three pop songs of Wiranis Production are two important things that need to be studied in this research. To explain these two things, the theory used by the author to answer the analysis of the meaning of the text in this paper is Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic theory of denotation and connotation meaning. To get the results of the analysis of the melodic structure, the weighted scale method pioneered by William P. Malm is used. The research techniques used by the author are field work and desk work (laboratory work) proposed by Bruno Netll. The author uses a qualitative method by conducting observations, interviews, audio recordings, and interviews. The results reveal that the three pop songs by Wiranis Production each have a different meaning. The song Andigan do Tuhan means hope, Sama Dengan means lies that destroy relationships and Godang do Nian means regret. The conclusion of this research shows that Wiranis Production successfully markets its songs with various regional languages such as Toba, Karo, Simalungun and Nias. And the song by Wiranis Production popularized by Anis Gea was successfully enjoyed by the people of Indonesia (North Sumatra) to the international community (Malaysia).98 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

This article describes the TEXTUAL AND MUSICAL ANALYSIS OF WERVIN PANGGABEAN'S SONG "AUT BOI NIAN, LUPA HO AMANG AND SAI MULAK. The aim of your research is to discuss the biography of Wervm Panggabean, analyze the textual meaning and analyze the musical structure. The research uses a qualitative method approach using collection techniques Literature studies, interviews, chervant, photos and sura renderings. In describing the analysis of textual meaning, the author uses Bruno Netll's theory and analyzes it using the Weighted Scale method to describe the content contained in these songs, namely, song transcripts, tonality and scale, ritual, tempo, texture, form, progressive chords and melodic contours. Musically, these songs have an A Major scale. Unmik, the song fur Bor Nian which is taken from the film Toba Dream by Viky Suanipar, A Major is also found in the song Lapa Ho Amang performed by Style Vioce, while the A major scale is by Century Tno, A major Terdin notes from A-B-C#-D-E-F-G#-A’ and D Major for the song Sai Mulak, while the D Major scale is for the song Sai Malak, this song is performed by Century Trio D-E-F#-G-A-B-C#-D'. Meanwhile, to analyze the textual meaning contained in the song, the author uses tron semantics and Fentimand Sazzers with a descriptive approach. In Ferdinand Lausvere's theory, fantinya uses a denotand meaning approach and connotative meaning or broad meaning and the largest meaning and adds significant aspects. The haul that was obtained was the song “Aut Boi Nian” which tells the story of a failed Contains about Failed Love, “Lupa Ho Amang” contains a child who doesn't feel grateful to his parents and “Sai Mulak” contains tells the story of a father who is waiting for his son to come home from abroad.147 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    Co-Designing with Communities

    No full text
Co-design refers to the collective creativity of designers and people not trained in design working together in the design development process (Sanders & Stappers, 2008). The co-design process recognizes that when it comes to issues of health, wellness, and community, the people involved as patients, family, caregivers and health care providers are the experts of their own experiences. Their expertise can provide invaluable firsthand insights about and ideas regarding wicked problems. The co-design approach has proven to help identify and shape innovative solutions as well as empower stakeholders to participate in the solutions that would directly impact them (Sanders & Stappers, 2012). We will present three case studies wherein the co-design approach has been used to tackle complex problems in health care connected to aging, autism and diabetes. Aging: This Co-Design Studio, led by Professor Sanders, provided an interdisciplinary mix of graduate students the opportunity to co-design with the residents at the Westminster-Thurber retirement community. The co-design teams explored a wide range of issues such as decisions about retirement living, clothing and finding the right footwear, and how to start the conversation about giving up driving. Autism: In her Design MFA thesis, Erika Braun investigated a co-design approach for tackling the wicked problem of transitions for adolescents with autism through an exploratory autism case study. She convened a diverse group of stakeholders, including adults with autism, as co-designers in an iterative process to frame the transition problem and explore new resolutions for the Center for Autism Services and Transition (C.A.S.T.), a clinic for adults with autism connected to OSUWMC. This exploration has led to an ongoing funded project focused on developing a better transitional care experience for patients with autism and their caregivers. Diabetes: This Co-Design Studio led by Professor Sanders facilitated the collaboration between multidisciplinary graduate student teams, patients and health care professionals to identify problems and challenges facing those living with Type 1 diabetes. The graduate students invited patients, their families, doctors, nurses, diabetes educators, and medical device company representatives to co-design solutions for issues at multiple levels of the current health care system. Intended audience: This presentation is beneficial to anyone who is interested in bettering health care experiences. Expertise of presenter(s): Elizabeth (Liz) Sanders is an associate professor in the Department of Design. Her academic research focuses on co-design for innovation and transdisciplinary collaboration. Erika Braun is a design researcher and product designer. She is collaborating on two autism projects and a solar light project for third world countries. Sapna Singh is a design researcher, strategist and educator. She teaches courses in design thinking, human factors and design history.AUTHOR AFFILIATION: Elizabeth B.-N. Sanders, Associate Professor, The Ohio State University, [email protected] (Corresponding Author); Sapna Singh, Lecturer, Design Researcher Strategist, The Ohio State University; Erika Braun, Design Researcher, Product Designer, Collective Design Initiative. The presenters will share how the practice of co-design has empowered community members to become involved in the creation and development of innovative concepts and solutions for complex challenges that their communities face. The presentation will include case studies in which the co-design approach has been used to tackle complex problems in health care connected to aging, autism and diabetes

Calciothermic reduction of TiO2: A diagrammatic assessment of the thermodynamic limit of deoxidation

    No full text
Calciothermic reduction of TiO2 provides a potentially low-cost route to titanium production. Presented in this article is a suitably designed diagram, useful for assessing the degree of reduction of TiO2 and residual oxygen contamination in metal as a function of reduction temperature and other process parameters. The oxygen chemical potential diagram à la Ellingham-Richardson-Jeffes is useful for visualization of the thermodynamics of reduction reactions at high temperatures. Although traditionally the diagram depicts oxygen potentials corresponding to the oxidation of different metals to their corresponding oxides or of lower oxides to higher oxides, oxygen potentials associated with solution phases at constant composition can be readily superimposed. The usefulness of the diagram for an insightful analysis of calciothermic reduction, either direct or through an electrochemical process, is discussed. Identified are possible process variations, modeling and optimization strategies
