Electrostatic System for fine control of mirror orientation in interferometric GW Antennas

    No full text
In this Letter we analyze a multistrip electrostatic device developing forces of the order of 1 mN on a dielectric mirror. Such a device has been developed for controlling the orientation of suspended mirrors in long baseline interferometers used for detecting gravitational waves. The dependence of the force on the distance mirror-multistrip has been measured and the fitting with the computed value has been satisfactory in the range 0.5–3 mm

State of the art of the optimisation of the selection and use of renewable energies for the agricultural environment

[EN] A combination of different energy generation sources, together with the possibility of installing batteries or other forms of energy storage systems, can enable the adaptation of the generated electricity to the needs of the farming sector. From optimal irrigation schedules for crops, to taking advantage of pruning waste to generate electricity at times when other sources are not able to generate it, this fitting can allow the farmers to focus solely on the wellbeing of the plants, without worrying about energy prices. On the other hand, it also provides the possibility of maximising energy production on days where the crop health is already ensured. In summary, this study is the first steps to work on what is missing to create hybrid energy systems that can adapt to the needs of the crops and their ecosystem. These hybrid energy systems applied on farms can improve the wellbeing of isolated areas, such as islands, industrial sites, or villages, helping the owners provide benefits for themselves and their communities. This work has been carried out within the framework of the research project "Re-vitalising Energy Transition in Touristic Islands -"LIFE21-CET-LOCAL-GENERA" (Reference: 101077073) of the LIFE-2021-CET Framework Programme funded by the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment.Leon-Vinet, A.;Peñalvo-López, E.;Valencia-Salazar, I.;Cárcel-Carrasco, J. Elasto optical antennas

It is shown that elasto optical properties of some transparent media make possible to couple elastic with optical resonators. Large single crystals with high quality factors lead to narrow band resonant antennas, whereas optical fibers lead to wideband antennas. The sensitivities are evaluated

Recycling interferrometric antennas for periodic gravitational waves

    No full text
Experimental devices using either delay lines or Fabry-Pérot cavities in detectors of gravitational waves have been proposed and developed for a few years. In order to make clear the comparison between these elements when arranged in a synchronous recycling setup suitable for periodic waves, general formulae giving the signal amplitudes are proposed.

Measurement of power effects caused by the deterioration of the neutral conductor in three-phase distribution networks

[EN] The expressions of the powers that measure the effects of the energies manifested by the deterioration of the neutral conductor in low-voltage distribution networks are developed in this paper with the name of neutral-displacement powers. The expressions of these powers have been obtained by applying the Principle of Energy Conservation to the entire three-phase system and the use of Buchholz's apparent source and load powers. Contrary to the traditional apparent powers of the neutral conductor, these new powers are not affected by the neutral currents and, therefore, their expressions can be applied to analyze the effects of the neutral conductor even though this conductor has been accidentally broken or disconnected. In the application example, based on the three-phase distribution network of a real industrial estate, it has been verified that the neutral-displacement powers reach a maximum value when the neutral conductor has been broken, while the traditional apparent powers of the neutral conductor are worth zero under those conditions. This result confirms that the neutral-displacement powers are more adequate quantities than the traditional ones to measure the impact that the deterioration and disconnection of the neutral conductor can cause in three-phase distribution networks. The work described in this paper has been sponsored and developed under the H2020 SMEmPower Projects (grant number 847132) of the European Commission and GV/2021/149, granted by the Generalitat Valenciana.

    No full text
