This study investigates information needs and behaviour of humanities scholars in an ICT-enriched environment in Jordan. The study was conducted at Yarmouk University, Jordan, one of the developing nations in the Middle East. Previous researches show that humanities scholars have a significant negative relation with ICT use although they demonstrate significantly higher use of library facilities compared to other academicians. There is also a lack of up-to-date research on information behaviour of humanities scholars that considers the recent rapid increase of ICT infrastructure and the emerging digital environment. Hence, the objectives of this study are to (a) understand the information needs and behaviour of humanities scholars in an ICT-enriched environment, (b) ascertain their information needs and information tasks, (c) identify the barriers they encountered, and (d) investigate the relationship between demographics information and information-seeking processes. The ultimate objective is to produce a model of information behaviour applicable to humanities scholars in the Arab nation. The conceptual model is based on integration of five models of information-seeking behaviour - Ellis, Kuhlthau, Wilson, Niedźwiedzka and Foster, with additional attributes representing the information context such as languages, decision to seek and format of information resources. The mixed-method approach was used where the qualitative approach involves face-to-face interviews with 26 scholars. A “factious, specific, concrete representations of target users”, known as Persona was used as the analysis method. For the quantitative approach, 280 humanities scholars were sampled in questionnaires survey where the descriptive, t-tests and chi-square statistics were used for analysis. The finding indicated that the humanities scholars have passive seeking behaviour which was triggered by information events. They also had different level of awareness regarding the availability of information sources and services in their areas of interest. In addition, the scholars had different motivations to iv seek information that could be determined by the use of appropriate format and understandable language. The junior scholars made an increasing use of digital resources while the senior scholars preferred printed materials and informal resources but give attention to digital resources. On the active information-seeking behavior, the humanities scholars had variant decision of information-seeking depending on their computer literacy, types and format of information needs. Furthermore, while they had different priority list on exploring, accessing, categorizing and purifying of information, their satisfaction was the same in all cases. The findings also showed barriers of library resources, university environment and personality had influenced their informationseeking and they reacted accordingly based on their experience and computer literacy. Simultaneously, while they were satisfied with the university library resources and services, they were not satisfied with the Centre of Excellence. Lastly, demographic data such as age, academic position, academic qualification and years of experience that differentiated between the senior and junior scholars showed significant correlation with types of information need and format. This study has provided a clear picture about the reality of humanities scholars’ information needs and behavior. This information is pertinent in providing excellent resources and services to reduce the barriers in information-seeking and to optimize the satisfaction level of the library users especially the electronic resources

Quran was sent down for the humanity, its consequently guiding to drive justice, dignity and a mercy of the universe. This paper tried to discribe of the triangle of text, reader and author in islamic legal opinion. The cource strictly to differ where are authoritative and authoritarian in the same time. Here is Khaled Khaled as a prominent moslem thinker standing consistantly  in front line againts wahabism on its fatawa or islamic legal opinions. Khaled offers methodology of how to interpret of the meaning of the law texts, it is hermeneutic. The characteristics of this kind of methodology is that there is closed relation to the author, text, context, and interpreting of reader. So, the meaning of Islamic law texts can be classified into two categories, authoritarianism and authoritative meaning

Problems with Gender-biased Islamic law education and authoritarianism in the United States have invited the anxiety of prominent Muslim intellectual, Khaled Abou El Fadl. In his book on the Speaking in God's Name, Khaled revealed a crucial hermeneutic problem related to the relation of text (text), author (reader). Khaled also revealed the problem of abuse of "authority" in Islamic law that surfaced and was unavoidable among individuals and groups. Evidently, there are a number of religious fatwas not speaking "about God", but acting and speaking "in the name of God". The focus of this paper further discusses what are the hermeneutical problems in Islamic law education discussed by Khaled Abou El Fadl, and what is meant by the issue of authority and abuse, the relation of text-author-reader, and authoritarianism and its implications in the study of Islamic law. Then what are the mechanisms and methods for formulating the right Islamic fatwa

A Master of Science thesis in Mechatronics Engineering by Sherif Khaled Mohamed Issa Ismail entitled, “A Robust Approach for Enhanced Autonomous Robot Navigation”, submitted in March 2024. Thesis advisor is Dr. Mamoun Abdel-Hafez. Soft copy is available (Thesis, Completion Certificate, Approval Signatures, and AUS Archives Consent Form). The demand for robust and precise autonomous navigation systems for mobile robots has become increasingly imperative. These systems find applications across a spectrum of industries, from logistics and transportation to agriculture and defense. Autonomous navigation offers the promise of enhanced efficiency, reduced operational costs, and a safer work environment, making it a vital component in the ever-evolving landscape of modern automation. This research aims to enhance the localization accuracy of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) with cost-effective Global Positioning System (GPS) and Inertial Navigation System (INS) sensors by proposing a variation of the Kalman Filter (KF) for sensor fusion. This algorithm is used in this work for a low-cost loosely coupled GPS/INS integration. To achieve this objective, we propose the utilization of the Variational Bayesian-based Maximum Correntropy Cubature Kalman filter (VBMCCKF). This filtering technique demonstrates exceptional adaptability and resilience, making it particularly well-suited for the dynamic and often unpredictable environments that autonomous vehicles must navigate. The research strategy encompasses a dual-phase approach. Initially, a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of EKF, CKF, VBCKF, and VBMCCKF algorithms is conducted in a distinct application, namely Li-ion battery estimation. This preliminary phase is aimed at establishing the efficacy of these algorithms. Subsequently, in the core application, an offline estimation will be carried out using experimentally derived vehicle trajectories to ensure meticulous accuracy verification. It is noteworthy that the VBCKF as well as the VBMCCKF are being applied in this particular application for the first time. Following this, a transition was made towards real-time deployment for the localization of the autonomous navigation of a UGV. Throughout this phase, a thorough assessment of practicality and resilience are undertaken in dependable operational scenarios.College of EngineeringMultidisciplinary ProgramsMaster of Science in Mechatronics Engineering (MSMTR

This article is an analysis of the book written by Khaled M. Abou el-Fadl entitled Speaking in God's Name: Islamic law, Authority and Women, which tries to explain the thoughts of Khaled M. Abou El Fadl who carries the theory of authority by using a hermeneutic approach as an analytical knife in addressing The problems of Islamic law that have developed so far are still considered discriminatory, in Khaled M. Abou El Fadl's terms referred to as interpretation authoritarianism. The hermeneutics that Khaled M. Abou El Fadl developed is oriented towards the authority of the interpretation of a text by negotiating the text, the author and the reader by paying attention to three things, namely; competence (authenticity), determination of meaning, and representation. According to Khaled M. Abou El Fadl, these three main issues play an important role in shaping the authority holders in Islamic discourse

Leading authoritarianism on religious interpretation which is almost practiced by religious organizations or religious groups, in the name of God, is one of Khaled Abou El-Fadl’s academic questions. By using hermeneutical method, Khaled attempts to reconstruct contemporary despotism and authoritarianism in the field of religious interpretation. The main focus of Khaled’s idea is that authority in Islamic law is different from authoritarianism. It is to avoid tyranny within authoritative interpretation. Khaled offers a negotiative hermeneutics which notices that meaning is an interactive result between the author, text and reader. The negotiative hermeneutics a la Khaled tries to connect the limitless opening of the text and the arbitrary closing of the text. This method suggests the dialog between traditions, communities of interpreters, scientific disciplines, and civilizations. The result of this concept is that to counter religious authoritarianism, exclusivism, puritanism, and anarchy. This article aims for looking Khaled Abou El-Fadl’s way of thinking in relation with religious interpretation which is almost used by religious organization or group. The main frame of this paper is to look on how hermeneutical method proposed by Khaled gives a new innovation in seeing the development of Islamic studie
