Mississipi. Fortaleza. This work objectives to identify the representations of the Fortaleza city in the first decade of the twentieth century, through the trilogy of Gustavo Barroso´s memories, from the newspaper O Garoto, produced by the author, as well as Mississippi, historical novel produced by him at the end of his life and published posthumously in 1961. The city as a subject in Barroso had not yet been explored, which made this work often go on untapped paths. So it was necessary to open the space, start the discussion. This was done by approach the autobiographical issue of the writings treated by this work, that is, there is an autobiographical relationship in the memories and in the novel. Thus, Fortaleza is seen at the same time in two ways. The first is the city contained in the work, how it appears in the memoirs and how it is represented in Mississippi. The second way is based on the author's intentions and motivations. The fundamental question is, why did Barroso write what he wrote? Thus it was investigated the conditions of writing and the time lived by the author to understand the construction of Fortaleza by Barroso. It is also used in this research the newspaper O Garoto, founded by Barroso, it existed just over a year and no more than 14 copies. With a characteristic humor, the city shown is different from the city denied in Mississippi, and the idyllic of memories. Keywords: Gustavo Barroso. Mississippi. Fortress

The absence of normal reference values and electrocardiographic standards for clinically healthy sheep of a particular breed can hinder the detection of various conditions that might affect the transmission of cardiac impulses. This study aimed to determine the values of electrocardiographic measurements in leads D1, D2, D3, aVR, aVL, aVF, V1, V2, V3, and V4 and the effects of age and weight in ewes. The study was conducted with 39 nonpregnant and healthy Santa Inês ewes. They were categorized into four groups according to body weight: 7 ewes (20–30 kg), 14 ewes (30–40 kg), 11 ewes (40–50 kg), and 7 ewes (over 50 kg). There were also categorized into three groups according to age: 6 ewes (10–12 months), 28 ewes (16 and 17 months), and five ewes (2–4 years). Ewes aged 16 and 17 months showed a significant increase in P-wave time compared with ewes of other ages. There was no significant variation in terms of weight among the animals studied (P > 0.05). The reference intervals of electrocardiogram parameters did not show considerable variation in relation to weight and the age range from 10 months to 4 years. This corroborates the standardization of electrocardiographic normality values of unsedated Santa Inês ewes. The absence of normal reference values and electrocardiographic standards for clinically healthy sheep of a particular breed can hinder the detection of various conditions that might affect the transmission of cardiac impulses. In his article, The Eventualization of Political Thinking: From the Arab Revolutions to the Trump Era , Óscar Barroso maps out some of the most important contemporary philosophies of the Event: those of Rancière, Badiou, Hardt and Negri and Žižek. These philosophies of the event are defined as post-humanist political proposals that entrust emancipation not to the realization of anthropological ideas but to the emergence of difference. Examining the pessimistic interpretation that these authors make of what has happened since the events of 2011, the author questions whether too much trust has been placed in the supposed virtue of difference and, as a response, he proposes a reappropriation of humanism

The following research work represents the last stage of the second cycle of Integrated Master’s in Architecture, to be presented at Faculdade de Arquitectura e Artes (School of Architecture and Arts) in Lusíada University, located in Vila Nova de Famalicão. “Health Care and Social Support in the region of Baixo Barroso: A case-study” is the title that has been chosen as a result of careful study and analysis, and after the main objectives have been set. Attracted by Barroso’s very own culture (Barroso is located in the Municipality of Montalegre) and its ethnographic richness, touched by its latest bet in longterm care and the need to help the elderly, the author of this work tried to contribute with a project that was worth of the region and would meet its real and effective needs. As a result, the proposal of a Long-Term Care Unit in the region of Barroso, more specifically in Venda Nova, Municipality of Montalegre, was drawn up. This last stage had first been developed in the fifth year of the Graduation, in the Curricular Unit “Project III”, and is now being presented. The study of the Barroso region, particularly of the Barroso’s Ethnography, is clearly addressed in this dissertation, supported by the idea of the existence of what we call the “Barroso’s House”. This proposal is thus a response to such cultural richness, in an attempt to unite the past and the present, following an intergenerational path

The energetic green transition is increasing the demand for lithium (Li) exploitation. However, the Li supply faces challenges like limited reserves and environmental concerns. This pioneer study aims to characterize the Li concentrations in the region around the Barroso mine, in Portugal, by collecting and analyzing samples of cabbage, potato, drinking and irrigation water and soil from two nearby sites, and performing a preliminary exposure and risk assessment of local populations. Li levels ranged between 20 and 589 μg/kg in cabbages (n = 23), 2.3–21 μg/kg in potatoes (n =21), 1.1–5.9 μg/L in drinking water (n =10), 1.1–15 μg/L in irrigation water (n =23) and 35–121 mg/kg in soils (n =23). Significant differences in Li content between sampling sites were observed only for cabbage samples. The risk assessment revealed that none of the participants exceeded the provisional reference dose (p-RfD) (2 μg/kg bw/day), with a hazard quotient (HQ) <1, suggesting no health concerns for the population. It is expected that the studied area will be affected by the future expansion of the mine concession, thus this pioneer study is crucial for future research as it establishes a initial database for evaluating the potential impact of mining activity on the environment and the population’s exposure to Li.Highlights: - New database of Li levels in the Barroso mine area; - Evaluation of cabbage, potato, water (drinking and irrigation), and soil samples; - Significant differences observed in cabbage samples between sampling sites; - Risk assessment indicated acceptable human exposure levels to Li (THQ<1); - Baseline for Li studies following the mining expansion in the Barroso mine. This work is financed by national funds through FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., within the scope of the project EXPL/CTA-AMB/0977/2021 AMB/0977/2021(http://doi.org/10.54499/EXPL/CTA-AMB/0977/2021). The importance of samba to Brazilian popular music due to its transformation into a national music. Therefore, the analysis of Brazilian popular song, the object of study of some authors shows the samba that emerged in the '30s as a major musical genre in the country, making it an integral part of the constitution of national identity. As presented in the introduction, several authors point Ary Barroso as one of the greatest composers of popular modern and is responsible for designing abroad samba-exaltation and marching, paving the way for the bossa nova. It also stands out, its multiple facets as sportscaster, writer, broadcaster, Alderman. This paper discusses the work of Ary Barroso, as a composer, particularly the samba-exaltation, a musical genre that has sophisticated features great feeling to Brazil. Accordingly, the objective of this study is to present an analysis of exaltation samba composer Ary Barroso, showing traces of epic account. The survey is also the conception of musical exaltation samba can be compatible with the style of modernism. As support for the study of the lyrics used the book Popular Song in Brazil, 2010 in Santuza Cambraia Naves and the same author, The Blue Guitar, 1998. Can observe features epic account of how the use of repeated words and adjectives vehement and direct speech. We emphasize other particulars as the presentation of the songs in pompous style, with the use of epithets majestic tones and the use of glorification of the folk elected as the epic. Arrangements grandiloquent, authentically national and aesthetics developed by Villa-Lobos in the early 30s shows that samba- exaltation reconciles it with the style of modernism.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível SuperiorSmall ruminants have been increasingly used as animal models for human cardiological experiments due to similarities in cardiac anatomy, dimensions and physiology. However, to obtain reliable results, it is necessary to know the normal cardiac function in non-sedated sheep. The objective of this study was to determine reference values for hematological, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic parameters in Santa Inês sheep, standardizing these measurements for use in human research. Furthermore, determine the variation in measurements in relation to the weight and age ranges of the sheep. Blood samples were collected from 70 sheep for blood count and fibrinogen testing to certify the general health of the herd. Of these, 39 sheep were included in the study after being certified as healthy through clinical evaluation and laboratory tests. In this way, the thirty-nine female sheep, from ten months to four years old, were subjected to an electrocardiography and echodopplercardiography examination. The electrocardiographic examination lasted two minutes, using the limb derivation and precordial derivation methodology with subsequent recording and interpretation of the traces. The leads used were D1, D2, D3, aVR, aVL, aVF, V1, V2, V3 and V4. In the doppler echocardiographic examination, twodimensional measurements were obtained, in M mode and pulsed wave doppler. After electrocardiographic and doppler echocardiographic examinations, reference intervals (mean ± 2x standard deviation) were calculated for the breed. The sheep were divided by weight and age range for subsequent statistical comparisons. They were categorized into four groups according to body weight: 7 ewes (20–30 kg), 14 ewes (30–40 kg), 11 ewes (40–50 kg) and 7 ewes (over 50 kg). And in three groups according to age: 6 sheep (10–12 months), 28 sheep (16 and 17 months) and five sheep (2–4 years). Regarding electrocardiographic parameters, sheep aged 16 and 17 months showed a significant increase in P wave time compared to sheep of other ages. There was no significant variation in terms of weight between the animals studied (p>0.05). When comparing the doppler echocardiographic parameters of healthy sheep and humans, the values of end-diastolic diameter, ejection fraction and shortening fraction were similar, except for a slightly shorter mitral E wave deceleration time. We conclude that the reference intervals of the electrocardiogram parameters did not show considerable variation in relation to weight and age group. This corroborates the standardization of electrocardiographic normality values for non-sedated Santa Inês sheep. And that echocardiographic parameters of left ventricular systolic and diastolic performance in Santa Inês sheep can be reliably extrapolated to those of Brazilian human adults, thus supporting the use of national sheep models in human heart disease research.Small ruminants have been increasingly used as animal models for human cardiological experiments due to similarities in cardiac anatomy, dimensions and physiology. This article is a reflection on the formation of the Brazilian literary canon, especially in its modern formulation of the early twentieth century, when even a pre-modern literary tradition built by newer acts politically to exclude from his repertoire authors not linked to their aesthetic expectations. Therefore the role of intellectual, writer polygraph and foremost man of letters, Gustavo Barroso and his relationship with the Pre-Brazilian modernism, considering categories such as personal capital and cultural capital, as Pierre Bourdieu (2010), demonstrate how the author is moved to the edge of the exclusion period in a tacit
