The Implications of World Trade Liberalization on Agricultural Trade and Food Security: A Case Study of Sudan
This paper assesses and quantifies the consequences of world trade liberalization in agriculture on trade and food security of Sudan. Sudan, with the agricultural sector as the main sector of economy, is characterized by its small open economy, and is classified as one of the least developed countries. Thus, Sudan becomes more vulnerable to any changes in international agricultural markets. The liberalization of international agricultural trade has a great influence on Sudan's food security and on the whole economy. An extended form of a multi-market model for Sudan is developed and used for the analysis. The model embodies important characteristics of agriculture in Sudan like substitution effects and stages of production. As agriculture is the main sector of Sudan's economy, the model is extended to explicitly integrate some of the key important macroeconomic linkages, and to establish certain feedback effects between agriculture and the macro-economy. The model simulations reveal that a higher world market price would overall lead to measurable gains in food security and agricultural trade of the country. However, when the effect of a higher cost of production is considered, the positive results are reversed. Furthermore, the results of the model simulations show that the domestic policy environment matters very much with respect to the potential impact of world trade liberalization of agriculture. The paper concludes that Sudan should reorient its national policies towards export promotion in order to benefit from the new emerging trading opportunities in world markets. However, to capture a greater benefit from the new environment in the international markets, Sudan should consider and manage carefully all factors, domestically or internationally - e.g. quality standard, loss of preference, dumping effects - that hinder its economic and trade growth.International Relations/Trade,
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Keywords: Effectiveness, Jigsaw, Improve, Reading Comprehension.
This thesis described the effectiveness of jigsaw strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension at MA Darul Imad Kabupaten Banjar academic year 2017/2018.
The subject of this research was two classes contain 64 students of eleventh grade at MA Darul Imad academic year 2017/2018. The Object of the research was effectiveness of jigsaw strategy to improve students’ reading comprehension at MA Darul Imad Kabupaten Banjar academic year 2017/2018.
To collect the data, the researcher used observation and test. The test contained pre-test and post-test. The method of this study was quasi experimental design which consisted two groups or classes, a class for experiment and a class for control design and to find out the result of students’ improvement, this research used multiple-choice type contains 20 questions. Then, the data were analyzed quantitatively and explain qualitatively.
The result of this study stated that jigsaw strategy was not effective to improve students’ reading comprehension, the calculating mean of experimental class for post-test was 66,03 in fair category. The calculating mean of control class for post-test was 55,67 in low category. The data analysis, the researcher used Independent Sample T-test by SPSS 23 and found t-count was less than t-table. Thus, there was no significant difference between students’ reading comprehensions who were taught by Jigsaw strategy and who were taught without it. It can be concluded that the jigsaw strategy was not appropriate to be taught in reading comprehension
I Dream of Microwaves
Amazon.com review--In his smashing debut story collection I Dream of Microwaves, Imad Rahman navigates the world of marginal actors looking for work--and love--in quirky, unseemly venues. Following the travails of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a young Pakistani actor whose career highlight has been playing perpetrators in crime reenactments on America\u27s Most Wanted, Rahman offers over-the-top episodes of astounding wit and hilarity, in no particular chronological order, as Kareem: finds work as a costumed hawker of a trendy drink at a dive bar where he battles a dwarven rival for the crowd\u27s business; reprises Brando\u27s role of Kurtz in a musical production of Apocalypse Now at the Steak \u27N Stage dinner theatre; and partakes in his recurring girlfriend, Eileen\u27s, plan to pry money from her philanthropic grandmother. In the latter, title story, Kareem pretends to be a Bosnian war survivor, pitted against Eileen\u27s ruse. The B-listers recognize each other and, rather than tattle, enter into a duel of acting one-upsmanship, telling increasingly grandiose stories of atrocity and third-world living. After joining a Shakespeare troupe stranded in Pakistan and watching their driver revive his van with a mouthful of gas, then immediately light a cigarette without incident, Kareem: expected his head to pop off with a bang, flames bellowing out his open neck. Self-deprecating and funny, Kareem is a memorable thespian worth following around. --Michael Ferchhttps://engagedscholarship.csuohio.edu/scholbks/1149/thumbnail.jp
Comparison of three microarray probe annotation pipelines: differences in strategies and their effect on downstream analysis
BACKGROUND: Reliable annotation linking oligonucleotide probes to target genes is essential for functional biological analysis of microarray experiments. We used the IMAD, OligoRAP and sigReannot pipelines to update the annotation for the ARK-Genomics Chicken 20 K array as part of a joined EADGENE/SABRE workshop. In this manuscript we compare their annotation strategies and results. Furthermore, we analyse the effect of differences in updated annotation on functional analysis for an experiment involving Eimeria infected chickens and finally we propose guidelines for optimal annotation strategies. RESULTS: IMAD, OligoRAP and sigReannot update both annotation and estimated target specificity. The 3 pipelines can assign oligos to target specificity categories although with varying degrees of resolution. Target specificity is judged based on the amount and type of oligo versus target-gene alignments (hits), which are determined by filter thresholds that users can adjust based on their experimental conditions. Linking oligos to annotation on the other hand is based on rigid rules, which differ between pipelines. For 52.7% of the oligos from a subset selected for in depth comparison all pipelines linked to one or more Ensembl genes with consensus on 44.0%. In 31.0% of the cases none of the pipelines could assign an Ensembl gene to an oligo and for the remaining 16.3% the coverage differed between pipelines. Differences in updated annotation were mainly due to different thresholds for hybridisation potential filtering of oligo versus target-gene alignments and different policies for expanding annotation using indirect links. The differences in updated annotation packages had a significant effect on GO term enrichment analysis with consensus on only 67.2% of the enriched terms. CONCLUSION: In addition to flexible thresholds to determine target specificity, annotation tools should provide metadata describing the relationships between oligos and the annotation assigned to them. These relationships can then be used to judge the varying degrees of reliability allowing users to fine-tune the balance between reliability and coverage. This is important as it can have a significant effect on functional microarray analysis as exemplified by the lack of consensus on almost one third of the terms found with GO term enrichment analysis based on updated IMAD, OligoRAP or sigReannot annotation
