- Teachers’ Strategies to Enhance Classroom Interaction by Using Linguistic Modification: -
The aim of this study is to look into the methods teachers use to change language elements during class interactions. Reexamining how these changes are applied to improve students' understanding in light of Chaudrons' theory (1988) is the goal. A descriptive qualitative approach was chosen in order to accomplish the research goal. This approach was used to provide a thorough examination of the language adjustments instructors made when using the checklist for classroom observations and interviews as the research tool. The qualitative descriptive framework made use of the data analysis. Lexis, syntax, and phonology were the three main areas in which the three teachers who participated in the study applied linguistic adjustments, according to the findings. These modifications were purposefully made to help students understand during class interactions and to promote clearer communication. Lexical, syntactic, and phonological changes are intentional modifications to clear up possible misunderstandings and strengthen the learning process. The study suggests that useful advice that probably provides insights into how educators might successfully apply language alteration to improve the caliber of engagement in their classes
MULTILINGUAL INTERACTION IN CLASSROOM CONTEXT
This research aimed at exploring teacher and student ways of interacting in multilingual EFL classrooms. This research was a qualitative study using case study design. This research participants consisted of 1 EFL and 4 SMKN 5 Jeneponto students at Sulawesi Selatan. The data was obtained by observation and interview. The data was analyzed on the basis of data analysis procedure consisting of data collection, data display, data condensation, and conclusion: drawing / verification. The finding showed that there were three ways through multilingual interaction in the teaching and learning process, beginning the class, during learning process and closing the class. The findings led to the conclusion that the multilingual interaction within the classroom had already made the teacher-students and student-students more interactive. Furthermore, the students were even good in communicating and influencing their attitude so they participated actively in classroom activities and felt comfort interacting with the class using multilingual interaction. The researcher also suggests that future researchers should conduct the relevant research by adding some new aspects to it. The aspects can be extended in terms of the method used, the number of research variables, research participants, etc
Comparing between Total Physical Response and Silent Way Method to Develop Students’ Speaking Ability
The objective of the research is to get information about comparing between total physical response and silent way to develop speaking students’ ability at second grade senior high school 1 liliriaja Kab. Soppeng. This was a quasi-experimental research using two classes on pre-test and post-test design, the population of this research was second grade senior high school 1 liliriaja Kab. Soppeng. The technique to take the sample is cluster random sampling and the data was analyzed into descriptive statistics and T-test. The result of data analyzing shows that the students’ achievement of control class at pre-test 3,5625 and post test 5,59375, experimental class at pre-test 2,71875 and post-test 4,46875. While the result of t-test score was greater than t table. For the effectiveness of the speaking classroom context, the method tends to provide difficulties in practicing the speaking method. The researcher suggests the future researchers to conduct the relevant research by adding some new aspects into it. The aspects can be expanded in terms of the method used, number of research variables, research participants, et
TEACHERS’ COMPETENCE IN DEVELOPING ENGLISH TEACHING MATERIALS BASED ON INFORMATION COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY
This research aimed to investigate: (i) teachers’ competence in developing
English teaching materials based on Information Communication and
Technology and (ii) teachers’ perception toward in developing English teaching
materials based on Information Communication and Technology. This research
was employed survey method. The respondents of this research are 30 teachers of
Senior high school of Parepare consisted SMAN 1 PAREARE, SMAN 2
PAREPARE, SMAN 3 PAREPARE, SMAN 4 PAREPARE, SMAN 5
PAREPARE, SMKN 1 PAREPARE, SMKN 2 PAREPARE, and SMKN 3
PAREPARE. Questionnaire, interview and Document were used in collecting the
data. The result of the analysis showed that the teacher developed English
teaching materials with 5 kinds namely (1) Adding Materials has moderate
criteria because the mean of the data is 59, 47%, (2) Removing Materials has
moderate because the results of the data is 55, 33%, (3) Changing Materials has
score in 63,037% which means that high criteria, (4) Arranging Materials has
mean 68.9% which means high criteria and (5) Making Materials a moderate
criteria because the mean is 57,133%. While the perception of teachers has a
Good Perception because it can be seen from the results of a questionnaire from
thirty teachers in Parepare including public or private teachers.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
