MARGINALIZATION OF DEPARTMENTS OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND LANGUAGES IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN DENPASAR
Learning should be focused on the social and cultural development of intellectual ability, and encourage the learner’s comprehension and knowledge in order to produce intelligent and educated society. From the data collected from Public Senior High School 1 Denpasar and Dwijendra Senior High School Denpasar, it was found that the departments of social sciences and languages were seriously marginalized, indicated by the time allocated for social sciences and languages. The time allocated for Natural Sciences such as chemistry, physics, and biology averaged three hours a week. The additional ‘extra’ time allocated for Natural Sciences made the overall time allocated for them double the overall time allocated for Social Sciences such as economics, history sociology, and geography. Furthermore, the time allocated for one of them was one hour a week. The knowledge presented by the books of Natural Sciences was highly “instrumentalist-positivistic”; unlike the books of social sciences which only provided academic normative information. The modernity contained in “instrumentative positivism” was the philosophy which gave more priority to practical things and hard work with financial success as the main criterion. It was concluded that the marginalization of the departments of social sciences and languages in Public Senior High School 1 Denpasar and Dwijendra Senior High School Denpasar resulted from modernism, the culture of image, and the image that natural sciences were more advantageous than social sciences and languages.</p

The Transcendence of The Worship of Ratu Hyang Tumuwuh Behind a Series of Sesolahan Rêjang Kuno Pura Luhur Batukau
This article presents the results of a cultural reflection conducted over the past four years (October 2021 to early 2025) through research on Sesolahan Rêjang Kuno at Pura Luhur Batukau. Employing the epoche phase of Husserlian phenomenological methodology alongside the sahådaya–sahådayasamvàda approach derived from the Nāṭyaśāstra's rasa theory, qualitative data were systematically collected, analyzed, and validated through triangulation techniques. The study identifies factors facilitating transcendental experiences, outlines the processes by which transcendence occurs, examines its psychological impact on the dancers, and explores the theological frameworks of the supporting community and the cosmological context of Pura Luhur Batukau. Findings indicate that this transcendental potential remains largely unrecognized by both dancers and the community, as the performance of the Rêjang dance tends to be oriented primarily toward fulfilling ceremonial completeness (jangkep). This study therefore serves not only as a source of insight but also as a proposed solution for enhancing collective energy toward transcendence. More broadly, it offers a framework for the revitalization of ancient Sesolahan traditions in other regions and provides conceptual inspiration for the development of modern agricultural technologies grounded in traditional and even ancient agrarian civilizations, such as that flourishing on the southern slopes of Mount Batukau.
Achieving physical and spiritual happiness on bhakti yoga
The current paper discussed two points of view, namely; first, analyze critically the methods used to internalize bhakti yoga devotion to followers. Second, to critically analyze the implications that have arisen after the establishment of bhakti yoga ideology. These are very interesting to study because practically bhakti yoga provides “convenience” in achieving physical and spiritual happiness. That is, taking a way that does not twist can accelerate to religion destination, namely the achievement of physical and spiritual happiness. The results showed first, the process of understanding bhakti yoga ideology was carried out by (1) through nawa widha bhakti, (2) hermitage, (3) raising cattle, (4) associating with spiritual teachers (sadhu sangga). Second, the ingrained bhakti yoga ideology has implications for religious life, namely the use of symbols of religious sect identity unlike the use of japamala and tilaka. Implications to socio-culture, there is an interaction of follower’s culture before and after they take part in bhakti yoga in religious sects. The implication for the economy of religious sects and followers is a capital exchange between followers and capital accumulation on followers and organizations

The pedagogical reason is that in the Otonan Ceremony, there is an educational process of tattwa (cognitive aspect), morals (affective aspect), and ceremony (psychomotor aspect)
Development of Mahabharata teaching materials for Hindu character education in SMAN 3 Denpasar
Character education plays a vital role in shaping students' values, yet many existing materials in Hindu Religious Education fail to integrate moral teachings effectively. The Mahabharata, a classical Hindu epic, offers rich narratives that support value-based learning. This study aims to: (1) assess the need for Mahabharata-based teaching materials that incorporate Hindu character values, (2) develop such materials through a structured process, and (3) evaluate their impact on the quality of learning at SMAN 3 Denpasar. Using a Research and Development (R&D) design adapted from Borg and Gall, the study involved needs analysis, expert review, limited and full-scale trials, and product refinement. Instruments were validated for reliability, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests. Findings indicate that the developed materials improved students’ engagement and understanding of dharmic values. The study recommends implementation of these modules in classroom practice and suggests broader integration of culturally rooted texts into the national character education curriculum
Hindu-Islamic intercultural communication in Kramat Ratu Mas Sakti Temple
This study aims to explain why Hindu-Islamic intercultural communication occurs at the Kramat Ratu Mas Sakti Temple in Cemagi Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency. Exploring the process and what are the implications of communication for religious harmony. This research is expected to provide understanding, information, and scientific understanding to the general public. This study uses three theories, namely (1) phenomenological theory, (2) intercultural communication theory, (3) reception theory. Philosophically, phenomenological theory places humans as creative actors in their social reality. Social reality is not a static tool of the coercion of social facts. that is, human actions are not completely determined by norms, habits, and values. Temple which is normatively a sacred place of Hinduism is used to perform rituals or worship together between Hindus and Muslims. Operationally, this theory can be used as a research methodology in revealing existing social realities
