    Sociological Aspects in Siti Nurbaya\u27s Novel by Marah Rusli

    There is a close relationship between literature and life because the social function of literature is how it involves itself in people\u27s lives. The purpose of this research is to find out the sociology of literature, which examines it through three contexts, first, the social context of the author; second, literature as a mirror of society; third, the social function of literature in the novel Siti Nurbaya by Marah Rusli. The method in this research uses descriptive qualitative. In this case, the writer first describes the social context of Marah Rusli\u27s novel Siti Nurbaya, then analyzes the content of the novel and then looks at the relationship between the problems in the novel, and then adjusts it to socio-cultural conditions. The results of the analysis show that Siti Nurbaya\u27s novel, in terms of the author\u27s social context, that in Siti Nurbaya\u27s novel, is based on the bad experience of the author, Marah Rusli. Siti Nurbaya\u27s novel reflects the many problems of society in Siti Nurbaya\u27s era, such as polygamy, pride in nobility, customs in Padang, child sacrifices for their parents, and so on. Meanwhile, there is a social function of literature in the novel, which includes rebellion, literary works as entertainment, and entertainingly teaching something

    This paper discusses the patterns of religious thought of the women activists in the early period of Aisyiyah. The women activists are Siti Walidah, Siti Bariyah, Siti Aisyah, Siti Badilah, Siti Munjiyah, Siti Badilah, Siti Hayyinah, dan Siti Umniyah. Through ahistorical approach, the author founds a link between colonialism that occur in Muslim countries and the revival of the spirit of women activists in mobilizing the Muslims society. The author also asserts that the thought of Aisyiyah leaders including in the Islamic modernism that mean are Islamists a progresive religion, Islam is a religion of liberation, enlighten and advance. This understanding is very influential in the development of Aisyiyah recently. The formers of Aisyiyah aware of the importance of women’s participation and role in Islamic Da’wah join with men to accelerate the realization of a prosperous society. Key words: Thought, women activists, Aisyiyah Makalah ini membahas tentang corak pemikiran keagamaan perempuan aktivis gerakan Aisyiyah pada periode awal. Mereka adalah Siti Walidah, Siti Bariyah, Siti Aisyah, Siti Badilah, Siti Munjiyah, Siti Badilah, Siti Hayyinah, dan Siti Umniyah. Melalui pendekatan historis, penulis menemukan kaitan antara gelombang kolonialisme yang terjadi di negara-negara muslim dengan semangat kebangkitan kaum perempuan dalam menggerakkan kaum muslim khususnya kaum perempuan. Penulis juga menegaskan bahwa pemikiran para tokoh Aisyiyah termasuk paham modernisme Islam yaitu Islam sebagai agama yang berkemajuan, agama dengan ajaran yang membebaskan, mencerahkan dan memajukan. Pemahaman ini sangat berpengaruh dalam perkembangan dakwah ‘Aisyiyah ke depan. Para tokoh Aisyiyah menyadari akan pentingnya perempuan berpartisipasi dan berperan dalam Dakwah Islam bersamasama dengan laki-laki untuk mempercepat terwujudnya masyarakat sejahtera.     ABSTRAK             Melihat realitas pada awal abad ke-20 di Yogyakarta kaum perempuan hanya berada pada posisi pasif di ranah domestik, dan laki-laki dianggap lebih superior dari perempuan. Upaya peningkatan peran perempuan sebagai mitra sejajar dengan laki-laki tentunya tidak terlepas dari peran para tokoh, termasuk Siti Walidah. Tentunya dari permasalahan umum di atas, dapat dirinci ke dalam beberapa permasalahan, pertama, apa pengaruh gerakan Siti Walidah terhadap kaum perempuan Yogyakarta? Kedua, bagaimana bentuk partisipasi dan kontribusi Siti Walidah dalam organisai Aisyiyah? Ketiga, bagaimana reaksi masyarakat mengenai pergerakan Siti Walidah yang menjunjung hak-hak perempuan? Pada penelitian ini penulis menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah yang meliputi empat tahap, yaitu: heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Terdapat 3 (tiga) hasil temuan dalam kajian ini, pertama, Siti Walidah membawa perubahan baru dan memberikan pengetahuan dengan mendirikan Sapa Tresno sebagai bentuk upaya Siti Walidah dalam memberdayakan kaum perempuan. Kedua, Siti Walidah dalam perjalanannya membersamai Aisyiyah selalu memberikan dukungan juga teladan kepada anggota Aisyiyah, selain itu Siti Walidah juga turut berkontribusi dalam beberapa kegiatan di Aisyiyah. Ketiga, perjungannya dalam melepaskan belenggu kaum perempuan dari adat istiadat yang sudah mapan menuai pro-kontra. Siti Walidah harus berhadapan dengan masyarakat yang konservatif dan memegang prinsip bahwa perempuan hanya merupakan “konco wingking”. ABSTRACT Seeing the reality at the beginning of the 20th century in Yogyakarta, women were only in a passive position in the domestic sphere, and men were considered superior to women. Efforts to increase the role of women as equal partners with men certainly cannot be separated from the role of figures, including Siti Walidah. Of course, from the general problems above, it can be broken down into several problems, first, what was the influence of the Siti Walidah movement on the women of Yogyakarta? Second, what is the form of Siti Walidah's participation and contribution in the Aisyiyah organization? Third, how is the public's reaction to the Siti Walidah movement which upholds women's rights? In this study, the author uses historical research methods which include four stages, namely: heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. There are 3 (three) findings in this study, first, Siti Walidah brought new changes and provided knowledge by establishing Sapa Tresno as a form of Siti Walidah's efforts in empowering women. Second, Siti Walidah in her journey with Aisyiyah always provides support as well as role model to Aisyiyah members, besides that Siti Walidah also contributes to several activities in Aisyiyah. Third, her struggle to release women's shackles from established customs has brought pros and cons. Siti Walidah has to deal with a conservative society and holds the principle that women are only "konco wingking"

    Pluralisme Agama dalam Pemikiran Syekh Siti Jenar

    This article discusses the roots of religious pluralism of Sheikh Siti Jenar. As one of theprosecution of Islam in the land of Java, he had a thought of religious pluralism, which is themeeting point of religions on the esoteric landscape (the transcendent unity of religions), in termsof Islamic mysticism known as Wahdat al-Adyan. The author deliberately used pluralism touncover the thoughts of Sheikh Siti Jenar based on his teachings. The theory of religiouspluralism classification, which includes secular humanism, global theology, syncretism, andlasting wisdom, is used to determine the pattern of religious pluralism found in the thought ofSheikh Siti Jenar. The problems discussed in this paper are the thoughts and patterns of religiouspluralism Sheikh Siti Jenar. For that purpose, the relevant data, obtained through the literaturestudy, is analyzed using a method of content analysis and descriptive-analytic. Based on thestudy conducted, it can be suggested that the concept of religious pluralism Sheikh Siti Jenar isthe implications of the plurality of scientific networks that accumulate in the developedteachings, Manunggaling Kawulo Gusti. The pluralism in the thought of Sheikh Siti Jenarcovered the meeting point of various religions at the esoteric level, because the difference forhim only occurred at the level of exoscorers alone. This view when associated with religiouspluralism classification belongs to the category of eternal wisdom. The thought of Sheik SitiJenar about the mystical maqamat in the process of discovering identity, the three elements thatbuild human beings, heaven and hell, and his views on nature, all of which are intertwined withthe teachings of Islamic mysticism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Javanese philosophy.     ABSTRAKPenciptaan karya tari dengan judul Nyamurjuang merupakan gabungan dua kata Nyamur dan Juang. Judul ini diartikan sebagai perjuangan Dewi Siti Samboja menyamar untuk melawan para bajo. Nyamurjuang digarap dengan tipe tari dramatik, dan didorong oleh teori kreativitas yaitu “Kreativitas adalah kemampuan seseorang untuk menghasilkan komposisi, produk, atau ide-ide baru yang sebelumnya tidak dikenal oleh penyusunnya sendiri”. Hasilnya, terwujudnya 5 orang penari wanita dalam visualisasi sosok Dewi Siti Samboja, baik itu sebagai gambaran perasaan, kegigihan, dan heroiknya penyamaran seorang putri sebagai ronggeng untuk menumpas para bajo. Pada proses garapnya, penulis melakukan langkah-langkah berupa observasi pencarian referensi yang relevan, melakukan ekplorasi, evaluasi, serta komposisi, sehingga menghasilkan sebuah karya tari menarik dan inovatif dengan visualisasi yang diusung dalam balutan nuansa musik tradisi.         Kata Kunci: Cerita Dewi Siti Samboja, Kreativitas Penciptaan Tari, Nyamurjuang. ABSTRACTNyamurjuang: The Concept of Dance Creation with Struggle and Strength Background of Siti Samboja, June 2020. The creation of a dance work entitled Nyamurjuang is a combination of two words: Nyamur and Juang. This title is interpreted as the struggle of Dewi Siti Samboja in disguising to fight the Bajo. Nyamurjuang is composed with dramatic dance type, and is based on the theory of creativity: "Creativity is the ability of a person to produce new compositions, products, or ideas that were previously unknown to its own composers". The result is the realization of 5 female dancers in the visualization of the figure of Dewi Siti Samboja, both as a description of feelings, persistence, and heroic disguise of a princess as a ronggeng to crush the Bajo. In the working process, the author has taken some steps in the form of observation to search for relevant reference, doing exploration, evaluation, and composition, so as to produce an interesting and innovative dance work with visualization carried in the form of traditional music.Keywords: The Story Of Dewi Siti Samboja, Creativity Of Dance Creation, Nyamurjuang.

    Peggy Nirwanjanti, Sastrawati di Kiri Jalan: Biografi Siti Rukiah Kertapati (1927-1996). Skripsi. Jakarta: Program Studi Pendidikan Sejarah. Fakultas Ilmu Sosial, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, 2023. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengenalkan sosok Siti Rukiah sebagai salah satu penulis perempuan Indonesia yang namanya sempat dihapuskan dalam tragedi tahun 1965 karena keterlibatannya dalam kelompok oposisi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah historis dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis. Data penelitian diambil dari tulisan-tulisan Siti Rukiah seperti puisi, cerita pendek, novel dan cerita anak yang terbit dari tahun 1946-1961 terutama dua buah karyanya yang terkenal, Tandus dan Kejatuhan dan Hati. Dengan menggunakan teori hermeneutika, penulis menginterpretasikan karya-karya Siti Rukiah yang sebagian besar bertemakan dan dinarasikan dalam sudut pandang orang pertama sebagai perempuan. Hasil penelitian yang didapatkan dalam penelitian ini adalah dalam sebagian besar karya Siti Rukiah, kita dapat melihat bagaimana revolusi yang bergejolak sekitar tahun 1940-an sampai 1960-an dari kacamata rakyat kecil terutama kaum perempuan. Dengan sebagian besar tema yang mengusung kisah cinta dan pergumulan batin manusia, Siti Rukiah mampu membawakan narasi yang sederhana namun tetap menarik untuk dibaca. Selain menulis tentang narasi revolusi, kontribusinya terhadap sastra anak juga tidak kalah penting. Sastra anak yang dibawakan oleh Siti Rukiah sarat akan nilai moral dan pengetahuan. Tujuan penulisan skripsi ini diharapkan agar semakin banyak khalayak ramai yang turut mengenal dan mengapresiasi karya-karya milik Siti Rukiah. This study aims to introduce the figure of Siti Rukiah as one of the Indonesian women writers whose name was abolished in the tragedy of 1965 because of her involvement in opposition groups. The research method used is historical with a descriptive-analytical approach. The research data is taken from Siti Rukiah's writings such as poetry, short stories, novels and children's stories published from 1946-1961 especially her most famous works, Tandus and Kejatuhan dan Hati. Using the theory of hermeneutic, the writer interprets the works of Siti Rukiah which are mostly themed and narrated in the first person point of view as women. The results of the research in this study are that in most of Siti Rukiah's works, we can see how the turbulent revolution around the 1940s to 1960s from the perspective of common, especially women. With most of the themes that carry the story of love and human inner struggles, Siti Rukiah is able to bring a simple but still interesting narrative to read. In addition to writing about the narrative of the revolution, her contribution to children's literature is also important. The children's literature presented by Siti Rukiah is full of moral values and knowledge. The concept of Islamic literature was not founded by Siti Zainon but the author sought to study the application of the concept of Islamic literature that exists in her work. The concepts of Islamic literature that we can find in her work include; first; use of calligraphic elements or Jawi writing, second; the importance of sensitivity to the environment and its society, third; the essence of culture or nation; fourth; no figurativeism; fifth; the use of floral motifs and fauna. These five theories eventually return to the main concept of Islamic Literature in her work, which is to return to the everlasting beauty which is God

    O presente artigo alicerça-se numa experiência de formação em que o autor (ele próprio pedagogo e artista há mais de 20 anos) esteve envolvido de outubro de 2016 a maio de 2017. SITI-Conservatory (NY-EUA) é um programa de formação e intercâmbio artístico promovido pela companhia americana de artes performativas SITI. O relato contextualiza esta proposta de formação, ao mesmo tempo que expõe as razões pelas quais o autor-pedagogo decide entrar nesta aventura. Num gesto comparativo, coloca-se em diálogo as expectativas iniciais e a realidade concreta dessa vivência. O tom mais ajustado que se encontrou para realizar esta análise crítica foi o de testemunho. Estamos, pois, perante um contributo que não é senão um ponto de vista subjetivo que espelha a história e a experiência pessoal do seu autorThe present article is based on a training experience in which the author (himself a teacher and artist for more than 20 years) was involved from October 2016 to May 2017. SITI-Conservatory (NY-USA) is a training program and artistic exchange promoted by the American company of performing arts SITI. The narrative contextualizes this experience, at the same time as it sets out the reasons why the author-teacher decided to embark on this adventure. In a comparative gesture, the initial expectations and the concrete reality of this experience are put into dialogue with each other. The most appropriate tone discovered to perform this critical analysis was the one of testimony. It is, therefore, a contribution that represents only a subjective point of view that mirrors the history and the personal experience of its author

    In situ method for power re-equalization of wavelength pulses inside of OCDMA codes

    A simple in-situ method to equalize power among individual wavelengths pulses representing two-dimensional wavelength-hopping time-spreading OCDMA code originally generated by a fibre Bragg grating-based OCDMA encoder is presented. Experimental data obtained in a field-based multiuser OCDMA testbed shows that applying this method results in system performance enhancements which was demonstrated by observing improved bit error rate (BER) during the field trials
