Half sheet, printed recto and verso on bright orange paper. Zinc etching. Unsigned. Ron Tyler, author of "Posada's Mexico" (Washington: Library of Congress and Amon Carter Museum, 1979) states on page 103: "Perhaps the tourists who were just beginning to be a common sight throughout the republic were the dreaded mosquito. . . Another possibility is that mosquito referred to the many Americans President Díaz was bringing in to handle the railroads, the mines, and other technical aspects of Mexico's development. A third possibility is that the term referred to the already ubiquitous American dollar.

No full textThe coat of arms from Mexico is an historical work written by Cayetano de Cabrera y Quintero. Among the topics addressed by the author are: the matalazahuatl epidemic, the swearing ofthe Virgin of Guadalupe, foundation dates of the first hospitals and the building of the first churches in the New Spain, the origin of the guadalupan worship, among others. Thebook was taken out of circulation by request of Manuel Antonio de Luyando y Bermeo, Professor from the Royal University, whom express his disagreement with the different Viceroyal authorities, because De Cabrera y Quintero denigrated him affirming he was opposed to the swearing of the worship of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Nowadays is known that the ViceroyFrancisco Güemes y Horcasitas wrote to Fernando VI, King of Spain, to report the kidnap of the literary work.El Escudo de armas de México es una obra histórica escrita por Cayetano de Cabrera y Quintero. Entre los temas que aborda el autor en esta obra se encuentran: la epidemia matlazáhuatl, lajura de la Virgen de Guadalupe, fundación de los primeros hospitales y construcción de los primeros templos en Nueva España, el origen del culto guadalupano, entre otros. El libro fue sacado dela circulación por solicitud de Manuel Antonio de Luyando y Bermeo, catedrático de la Real Universidad, quien se inconformó ante las diferentes instancias virreinales porque De Cabrera y Quinterolo denigró al afirmar que él se oponía a la jura del patronato de la Virgen de Guadalupe. No full textPictorial broadside that features a full-length portrait of Jesús Negerete in sombrero and charro outfit. Half sheet, printed recto and verso, salmon paper. Zinc etching. In "Posada's Mexico" (Washington: Library of Congress, 1979) the author Ron Tyler reproduces a photograph that may have been the basis for this etching and states on page 16 & 17: "One of the most famous of the bandits that infested Mexico during the early twentieth century was Jesús Negrete, called 'the Tiger of Santa Julia.' He had a record of crimes that was virtually unending.... Negrete was finally arrested when a member of the reserves received a tip and was able to surprise him on a cochineal plantation in Puerto Pinto de Tacubaya. But the story did not end there. Negrete escaped from Belén with four other prisoners soon after he was jailed. Finally, in 1908 he was convicted and sentenced to die. His appeals were exhausted in 1910. Meanwhile, he had become a model prisoner, learning to read and write and make cabinets. The warden of Belén testified to his progress and Negrete apparently expected to receive a pardon from Díaz, but the execution order was carried out on December 21, 1910.
Heuristic Schelling: economy of organized crime
No full textThis article proposes a reading of the armed conflict from an evolutionary design that takes into account the concept of private protection agencies in the works of Schelling. Their aim is to assess the dynamics of conflict and changes from its author's scientific output. A context of conflicts that includes new expressions of violence and the relative failure of the paramilitary reintegration involves using new analytical models (argumentation, game theory and inconsistent information). The recent evolution of emerging gangs and their expansion into areas that were paramilitary camps requires monitoring not only of the government and the authorities, but those investigating the conflict in the present tense. The author provides heuristic research support from Schelling’s theory of strategy, recent contributions to the relationship between organized crime and drug cartels.Colombia, Government, Civil War, Latin America, Security, Protection Agencies.
Acoustic lung signals analysis based on Mel frequency cepstral coefficients and self-organizing maps
No full textThis study analyzes acoustic lung signals with different abnormalities, using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), Self-Organizing Maps (SOM), and K-means clustering algorithm. SOM models are known as artificial neural networks than can be trained in an unsupervised or supervised manner. Both approaches were used in this work to compare the utility of this tool in lung signals studies. Results showed that with a supervised training, the classification reached rates of 85 % in accuracy. Unsupervised training was used for clustering tasks, and three clusters was the most adequate number for both supervised and unsupervised training. In general, SOM models can be used in lung signals as a strategy to diagnose systems, finding number of clusters in data, and making classifications for computer-aided decision making systems

No full textABSTRACT: “A Very Original Dinner” is a horror short story written in 1907 by Alexander Search, a fictional author created by Fernando Pessoa around 1906. In the story, Herr Prosit, a coarse but merry man, president of the Gastronomical Society of Berlin, invites all the members of the society to a very original dinner. Each member is challenged to discover the originality: Is it in a sauce? Is it in a new ingredient? Is it in the lighting of the room or arrangement of the tables? Originality could be in anything. The members, barely containing their fever of expectation, take each detail into account as they try to discover the originality in the banquet. Even though they have some hypotheses—sufficiently ridiculous—none of them imagines how far Prosit’s joke has gone this time.

No full textImágenes y TablasLa ejecución del presente proyecto es un trabajo de investigación científica de tipo exploratorio el cual da continuidad al mejoramiento del prototipo preestablecido con antelación, en el cual se diseñó e implemento un primer prototipo denominado ECODUCTOS, tomando como fundamento las teoría del funcionamiento de la turbina Pelotón, los generadores axiales y la construcción de embobinados; en este primer proyecto de investigación fui coautor, durante todo el proceso de investigación, diseño e implementación.
CINERGIC propone el mejoramiento del prototipo inicial optimizando su estructura física, implementando un sistema de acumuladores de energía (Baterías) las cuales a través de un circuito de control de carga permitirá la mejora en la eficiencia del sistema permitiendo optimizar el rendimiento mecanismo mediante ciclos de trabajo alterno.
La configuración de las PCB nos permitirá fijar los componentes electrónicos disminuyendo las pérdidas de potencia y control del sistema optimizando la configuración del circuito mejorando su presentación y funcionalidad.
La culminación de este proyecto se caracterizara por ser un sistema innovador y amigable con el medio ambiente, debido a que todo el proceso de generación es limpio y libre de residuos; adicionalmente el mismo equipo podrá ser implementado zonas las cuales cuenten con la viabilidad de aprovechamiento de recursos hídricos, permitiendo la adecuación a los parámetros del fluido.
Adicionalmente plantearemos el aprovechamiento del diseño mecánico del sistema de generación, el cual por medio de su funcionalidad y principio de tipo Pelton permita interactuar en zonas con fuentes hídricas las cuales podrán ser utilizadas en las necesidades diarias de consumo en una casa campestre.The execution of This Project is a scientific investigation work of exploratory type, which gives continuity to the improvement of the pre-established prototype, in which a first prototype was designed and implemented, called “ECODUCTOS”, taking into account the working theories of “pelton turbine”, the axial generators and the construction of windings; I was a co-author of this project, along the investigation, design and implementation process.
CINERGIC proposes the improvement of the initial prototype, optimizing its physical structure, implementing a battery system, which through a charge control circuit will allow the improvement in the efficiency of the system, optimizing the performance of the device, through cycles of AC work.
The setting up of the PCB will allow us fix the electronic components, reducing the loss of power and control of the system, optimizing the setting up of the circuit, improving the presentation and functionality.
The ending of This Project is characterized by being an innovative and environmentally friendly system, since all the generation process is clean and leftover- free; besides, the same device can be implemented in areas with high water resources, allowing adaptation to the flow parameters.
Additionally, we will propose the exploitation of the mechanical design of the generation system, which through its functionality and “pelton” type principle, will allow the interaction in areas with water resources that can be used in the everyday basic consumption needs in a country house
