    Author verification of Nahj Al-Balagha

This is an accepted manuscript of an article published by OUP in Digital Scholarship in the Humanities on 20/01/2022. The accepted version of the publication may differ from the final published version. Available online at https://doi.org/10.1093/llc/fqab103The primary purpose of this paper is author verification of the Nahj Al-Balagha, a book attributed to Imam Ali and over which Sunni and Shi’i Muslims are proposing different theories. Given the morphologically complex nature of Arabic, we test whether morphological segmentation, applied to the book and works by the two authors suspected by Sunnis to have authored the texts, can be used for author verification of the Nahj Al-Balagha. Our findings indicate that morphological segmentation may lead to slightly better results than whole words, and that regardless of the feature sets, the three sub-corpora cluster into three distinct groups using Principal Component Analysis, Hierarchical Clustering, Multi-dimensional Scaling and Bootstrap Consensus Trees. Supervised classification methods such as Naive Bayes, Support Vector Machines, k Nearest Neighbours, Random Forests, AdaBoost, Bagging and Decision Trees confirm the same results, which is a clear indication that (a) the book is internally consistent and can thus be attributed to a single person, and (b) it was not authored by either of the suspected authors

    Full-Bridge LLC Converter Using Voltage-Doubler

    No full text
The title of this thesis is Full-Bridge LLC Converter with Voltage-Doubler, consisting of a full-bridge series resonant converter on the primary side and voltage multiplier on the secondary side. It is to propose a full-bridge LLC converter with voltage multiplier with the nominal output power is 150 W and 150 V of DC input voltage. The LLC resonant tank serves as a second-order low-pass filter and dc-blocking stage simultaneously. It is featured with the purpose to achieve zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) to reduce switching losses of the circuit. In order to minimize the passive components in the converter, it operates at high frequency mode. But, since there might exist some range that would lack of decent efficiency, specifically if it is operating under light load. The converter will be morphed to half-bridge to gain the reduced loss. Unfortunately the voltage fed into the resonant tank will reduce into half of the input and the voltage gain cannot fulfill the output needs under this special half-bridge and light load condition. The voltage multiplier will be applied to regain the output voltage caused by the decreasing voltage in the input side. The thesis experimental results applied under heavy load and light load. Under full-bridge LLC converter resulted with the output of 36V, 2.5A and 44V, 2.5A for the heavy load, meanwhile under light load the output voltage will be 36V, 0.25A and 44V, 0.25A

High frequency LLC resonant converter: Design and prototyping

Ever since inception of field of electronics, electronic devices are getting smaller, lighter and more power efficient. At the same time computing power of the devices is increasing exponentially. There is an ongoing demand for power supplies of computing devices to get smaller, more energy dense while achieving higher efficiency. LLC resonant converters are replacing forward converters in DC-DC conversion due to their higher efficiency and magnetic integration. Size reduction in LLC resonant converter is possible by shifting towards 500kHz operation. But this shift comes with additional problems with regards to control mechanism and switching losses. The aim of this thesis is to design and prototype an LLC resonant converter. Problems associated with design and operation at 500kHz are identified and solutions are suggested to overcome such problems. The operation principle of LLC resonant converter is also explained in detail. The results prove that size reduction is possible while maintaining higher efficiency but certain limitations stop further reduction of size

    Five Scholarly Open Access Publishers

This review critically examines five international scholarly publishers that publish academic journals using the gold (author pays) Open Access model. The author-pays model is changing scholarly publishing because authors, rather than libraries or other subscribers, become the publishers' customers, an arrangement that creates a built in conflict of interest. The more articles a publisher accepts, the more revenue it earns. New gold Open Access publishers are appearing almost weekly, and many are engaged in unethical practices. The review covers four predatory publishers, Academy Publish, BioInfo, ScienceDomain International, and Scientific Research Publishing, and one legitimate publisher, AOSIS Open Journals

Budgeting preparation for a merchandising company Case company: Nhat Quang LLC

This thesis focuses on setting up a budgeting process for Nhat Quang limited liability company, which is an electrical equipment and supplies retailer founded in 2014. The thesis's outcome is an Excel budgeting tool, financial analyses and user tool guide. This thesis is a tool for the entity to operate financially and make the right decisions in business. This thesis is a product-based thesis, including a theoretical part and an empirical one, which follows the zipper structure. There are five project tasks to be implemented in succession. The first and second tasks include designing the theoretical framework and establishing the relationship between theoretical and empirical sections. Cost behaviour and financial situation analysis are addressed in task three. The result of the thesis is illustrated in task four, which is the process of building a master budget and performance evaluation. The master budget comprises an operating budget and a financial budget, which describes the business result anticipation in the next period. Based on different operating modes, the author designs separate budgets to show profitability from each operating mode clearly. The performance analysis is created based on the master budget by using financial ratio analysis, profitability analysis, and cost-volume profit analysis. Next, the toolkit is introduced with detailed instructions and steps on how to utilize the budget package. The last task describes the evaluation of the project and the author's reflection on the learning. The author conducted interviews with the owner, and the internal accountant of the company to collect primary data. Desktop research including documentaries, textbooks and articles study was the secondary research method. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word were tools that assisted the author to facilitate the project. Overall, the outcome makes the budgeting process more well-organized, which assists the manager to identify the reason when the loss occurs. There were some challenges during the process of implementation. However, the project helped the author develop problem-solving and project management skills

Author Co-Citation Analysis (ACA): a powerful tool for representing implicit knowledge of scholar knowledge workers

In the last decade, knowledge has emerged as one of the most important and valuable organizational assets. Gradually this importance caused to emergence of new discipline entitled ―knowledge management‖. However one of the major challenges of knowledge management is conversion implicit or tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge. Thus Making knowledge visible so that it can be better accessed, discussed, valued or generally managed is a long-standing objective in knowledge management. Accordingly in this paper author co- citation analysis (ACA) will be proposed as an efficient technique of knowledge visualization in academia (Scholar knowledge workers)

An LLC Resonant Converter with Double Resonant-Tanks for Wide-Input-Voltage-Range Applications

    No full text
To achieve a wide input voltage range, an LLC resonant converter with double resonant-tanks is proposed. The topology can be conceived as two half-bridge circuits connected in series. The converter is operated in two modes, both are realized with the operational behavior of a half-bridge LLC resonant converter for two different input voltage ranges. Among them, Mode 1 is for low input voltage, while Mode 2 is for high input. With the same operation frequency range and similar gain characteristics, each mode is performed under different switching pattern. This thesis discusses the circuit operation and analysis of the converter, followed by the design procedure to obtain circuit parameters. A 480 W prototype is implemented to validate the proposed circuit, with maximum efficiency of 97.85% at an input voltage level of 230 V and full load condition
