Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between belief change and its influential factors for student teachers in junior high schools. The participants included 163 student teachers and 163 corresponding mentors in public junior high schools of South Taiwan. The employed instruments were Teacher Belief Appraisal, Professional Growth Scale for Junior High School Teachers, Intrapersonal Intelligence Appraisal, and The Questionnaire of Perceiving Teaching Environment. The employed analysis methods were descriptive statistics, Hotelling\ue2s T2, multivariate analysis of variance, repeat measure analysis, discriminant analysis, multivariate analysis of covariance, and multiple stepwise regression.
The findings of this study revealed that (a) the student teachers\ue2 beliefs were toward open orientation on the whole, but their degree of openness varied in the four aspects of teacher beliefs; (b) gender did not have significant effects on the student teachers\ue2 beliefs at the beginning of their practice teaching; (c) teacher preparation systems, teaching areas, size of schools had significant effects on the student teachers\ue2 beliefs at the beginning of their practice teaching; (d) overall speaking, the student teachers\ue2 beliefs were quite stable through their practice teaching period; (e) the mentors\ue2 beliefs had positive effects on their student teachers\ue2 belief change; (f) the student teachers\ue2 professional growth motivation and teaching environment had positive effects on their beliefs at the beginning of practice teaching; (g) the student teachers\ue2 professional growth motivation and their mentors\ue2 beliefs had positive effects on their beliefs at the end of practice teaching.
Finally, some suggestions were proposed for teacher preparation institutions, schools of practice teaching, student teachers, and future studies

Preventive Effect of Bracteanolide A and Longan Flower Extracts on Hepatic Protection of Different Rat Liver Injury Models
No full text肝損傷為國人重要的醫療問題，許多疾病都可導致肝損傷，包括外科手術或肝臟移植之治療方式所引發的肝損傷和代謝症候群導致的肝損傷。近年來代謝症候群日趨盛行，且經證明會造成肝代謝異常、肝癌及肝內膽囊癌的發生。本研究目的旨在探討肝臟的預防效應，首先利用蛋白質體學分析龍眼花水萃物 (Longan flower water extract, LFWE) 前置處理預防高果糖飲食誘導大鼠代謝症候群之肝臟影響。結果顯示，高果糖飲食會誘導大鼠代謝症候群中蛋白質變化，如：增加果糖代謝、醣解作用、脂肪生成、內質網壓力及發炎反應；減少脂肪酸氧化、抗氧化能力，而導致代謝症候群的發生；使用LFWE處理後，則降低脂肪堆積、發炎反應；提高抗氧化能力，改善血脂異常，顯示出LFWE可經由上述作用路徑抑制高果糖飲食誘導大鼠的代謝症候群。另進一步評估龍眼花萃取物 (Longan flower ethyl acetate extract, LFEE) 和白花水竹草萃取物 (Bracteanolide A) 是否可降低大鼠肝臟缺血再灌流的損傷，評估Aspartate aminotransferase、Alanine aminotransferase、Interleukin-1β、Interleukin-6、Interleukin-10、Tumor necrosis factor-α、Inducible nitric oxide synthase和Cyclooxygenase-2的活性，其數值在缺血再灌流後會顯著的增加，而給予LFEE或Bracteanolide A會有顯著的降低。此外，缺血再灌流會顯著降低肝臟Glutathione濃度，而給予LFEE或Bracteanolide A則可顯著的改善。病理組織學的結果也發現給予LFEE或Bracteanolide A可以有效改善缺血再灌流導致的損傷。因此，LFEE或Bracteanolide A的前置處理可為肝臟缺血再灌流的損傷過程中，如肝臟手術或移植，提供一個新的治療方式。Liver injury, which can be caused by liver surgery, liver transplantation, and diseases such as metabolic syndrome (MetS), is considered an important medical issue in Taiwan. The increasing prevalence of MetS in recent years has been tightly associated with the development of abnormal liver metabolism and hepatocellular carcinoma. Thus, our current studies focus on the protection of hepatic injury. In this study, we used proteomic approaches to investigate the preventive effects of longan flower water extract (LFWE) on high fructose (HF)-induced MetS in rats. The results show that fructose metabolism, glycolysis, lipogenesis, endoplasmic reticulum stress, inflammatory activities, fatty acid oxidation and antioxidant capacity are significantly altered in rats with MetS; however, the abnormal protein expression pattern could been rescued with LFWE supplementation. We further investigated the protective effects of longan flower ethyl acetate extract (LFEE) and Bracteanolide A pretreatment in a rat hepatic I/R injury model. The results display that both LFEE and Bracteanolide A can ameliorate I/R injury-mediated increase of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, interleukin-1β, interleukin-6, interleukin-10, tumor necrosis factor-α, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and cyclooxygenase-2 activities, while at the time elevating hepatic glutathione levels after I/R injury. Histological results indicate that both LFEE and Bracteanolide A are effective in improving liver morphology during I/R injury. Therefore, LFEE and Bracteanolide A might offer a novel intervention for patients suffering from hepatic I/R injury caused by hepatectomy and liver transplantation
Inheritance and Innovation in the Traditional Jewelry Manufacturing Industry: A Case Study of Yan Cheng Metal Workshop
No full textTraditional crafts industries have been facing difficulties in passing on skills and businesses to the next generation. The major issue is how the inheritors can successfully take over and innovate the industry. Yan Cheng Metal Workshop, located in the Pier-2 art center in Kaohsiung, is a successful case of how a traditional crafts industry has been transformed into a cultural and creative business.
The Hong brothers, the founders of Yan Cheng Metal Workshop, were trained by their father and inherited his business. They have devoted themselves to creating a novel consumer experience focusing on customer skills training and a jewelry DIY production experience. During the golden era of the jewelry making industry in Xinle Street in Yancheng, their father was a jeweler at a jewelry store. Later, he was dedicated himself to metal jewelry crafts education, working as an teacher in vocational schools, as well serving as coach for Taiwan's national representatives in competitions. Later the Hong brothers also studied metal jewelry making. The elder brother, who as a student excelled in art and business management, is a certified Class B technician. While the younger brother was selected as Taiwan's national representative of metal jewelry craftsmen, specializes in metalwork techniques. Both of them participated in the city government's "The Return of Creative Talents Program" and founded Yan Cheng Metal Workshop in 2016.
In this paper, a brief summary of the transformation in inheritance of the metal jewelry-making crafts industry in Taiwan is presented. From the perspective of the politics of cultural work and crafts activities, the paper illustrates how the modern mentorship was transformed. It points out that a tipping point occurred between the 1980s and 1990s, when traditional apprenticeship was transformed into a new educational mode. The case study shows that the Hong brothers not only make a living by metal jewelry making, but are also dedicated to skills training, taking the jewelry metal crafts industry to a new level.
The unique characteristic of the cultural work of Yan Cheng Metal Workshop, combines sales with consumer \ue2self-manufacturing\ue2, developing an experience economy as well as the cultivation of the talents, making them different from other traditional metal craftsmen and jewelry shops whose production process and sale activities are separate. This is how they innovated their metal jewelry making business.
We found that the metal jewelry making business model has transformed from one generation to the next, especially with regard to how technique and know-how are now informally passed on and taught to the broader community. The differences are as follows. Firstly, traditional apprenticeship is replaced with a new combined teacher-student/consumer relationship. Second, the apprentices mainly learn their skills in tacit learning; however, the tacit knowledge is more explicit step-by-step instruction. Lastly, traditional metal artworks are made of gold while Yan Cheng Metal Workshop only use silver to produce their metal jewelry products. Moreover, the finished product has added value due to it's custom-made style and the consumer manufacturing experience
