    No full text
This is volume three of a five volume set from the Classics Library. Four of the five volumes came to the Lab for treatment and housing. The first volume, the only volume that did not come to the Lab, was previously rebound in a commercial, Buckram library binding. The four volumes with the original bindings all have half leather bindings with marbled paper covering the boards. The marbled paper is a stone pattern on all four volumes, though not identical. Of these four volumes, volume one (Database ID 3021) is the only volume that has its original leather spine. The leather spines for the remaining volumes, including this one, are lost.https://search.libraries.uc.edu/permalink/01OHIOLINK_UC/1q0qqq4/alma99102983516970851

    No full text
This is a mixed media artist book entitled The Radiant Republic. This came to the Preservation Lab as a new acquisition for housing only. Published by Big Jump Press in 2019, this artist book consists of a wooden (Baltic birch plywood) banker’s style box with a lid made of binder’s board covered in Dubletta bookcloth. The bookcloth is embossed with a geometric design on the top. The box contains: the text, a glass divider and nine cement forms. The text consists of five pamphlet-bound volumes held together by a simple flax paper wrapper. These volumes are printed, according to the artists’ statement, “from polymer plates and linoleum in combination with pressure printing” and use handmade Belgian flax paper and Rives Heavyweight Buff. The text portion of the artist book sits atop a piece of glass in the box. The glass sits on top of a ledge built within the wooden box and holds the five volumes in place while displaying the nine cement, geometric forms. The 9 forms consist of 4 unique shapes. There are three small cubes that are identical, two small octahedrons, one larger octahedron, and three large, identical octadecagons. The cement forms are smooth overall with some irregular, textured areas.https://search.libraries.uc.edu/permalink/01OHIOLINK_UC/1aeersc/alma99101359361970851

Archaeological notes. Mounds at Merom and Hutsonville on the Wabash AND Sketch of Hon. Lewis H. Morgan : Preservation Lab Treatment Report

    No full text
A collection of several small pamphlets adhered together into two groups along the spine with an unknown adhesive. The first group consists of at least five small pamphlets joined along the spine, while the second group comprises three pamphlets adhered in the same manner. The adhesion has created structural issues for both groups, preventing safe handling, as opening the pamphlets fully to access their contents is difficult. These pamphlet groups were previously housed in a four-flap buckram enclosure that was neither appropriately sized nor provided adequate protection. As per the curator’s request, the original housing was not brought to the lab, and a new enclosure will be created.https://search.libraries.uc.edu/permalink/01OHIOLINK_UC/1q0qqq4/alma99102424941970851
