Orogen‐Parallel Migration of Exhumation in the Eastern Aar Massif Revealed by Low‐T Thermochronometry
New and published (U-Th)/He data on zircon, apatite, and zircon fission track ages constrain the thermal overprint and cooling history of the eastern Aar Massif, Switzerland. The timing and pattern of cooling is in agreement with independent kinematic and age constraints from exposed shear zones. This suggests that the cooling ages mainly reflect exhumation and that long-term exhumation-dynamics were mainly controlled by crustal-scale tectonic processes. Results of a statistical inverse model reveal significant diachrony in the timing of exhumation in the along-strike direction. Maximum exhumation rates (urn:x-wiley:21699313:media:jgrb55226:jgrb55226-math-00011 mm/yr) were initially located in the central Aar Massif (from urn:x-wiley:21699313:media:jgrb55226:jgrb55226-math-000222 to 10 Ma), then gradually migrated to the east between urn:x-wiley:21699313:media:jgrb55226:jgrb55226-math-000310 Ma and present, while the central Aar Massif continued to exhume at slower rates (urn:x-wiley:21699313:media:jgrb55226:jgrb55226-math-00040.5 mm/yr). The diachrony in the timing of exhumation may be explained by lateral variations in the inherited thickness or the density of the accreted European crust. We attribute the increase in exhumation rates between 2 Ma and present to enhanced glacial erosion. Nevertheless, the post 2 Ma exhumation pattern reflects a continuation of noncylindrical massif “growth” in the eastward orogen-parallel direction. This indicates that—although at slow rates—thick-skinned and buoyancy-driven compressional deformation, likely enhanced by the presence of easily erodible flysch units at the surface, might still be ongoing especially in the eastern Aar Massif. Noncylindrical massif-growth is likely to also affect other External Crystalline Massifs or orogens, but may be overlooked because studies often focus on single orogen-perpendicular transects

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Theodor Heuberger, Kunsthändler: Between Modernist Artistic Predilections and Nazi Propaganda in Brazil (1924-1942)
Theodor Heuberger was a Kunsthändler working in Rio de Janeiro and S.o Paulo. Educated in Munich, he organized exhibitions in Brazil with artworks by important names of German Expressionism and was the first to exhibit the artist Käthe Kollwitz in the country. He also disseminated new store and exhibition design patterns connected to the aesthetic of Deutscher Werkbund in Brazilian cultural milieu. Despite fostering Expressionism in the country, he founded a magazine of cultural exchange between Germany and Brazil in which modern art gradually came to share space, during the 1930s and the following decade, with official messages from Germany. As a supporter of German modern art, the journal Intercâmbio would end its days as a vehicle for Nazi propaganda. Richard Heuberger (1884-1968) : the life and work of an Ancient Historian and Medievalist - a biographical approach
Richard Heuberger (1884-1968) is one of the most extraordinary historians that (the Austrian region of) Tirol has produced. Born in Vienna, he moved to Innsbruck when he was a high school student. It was here that he discovered his interest in history. In 1909 Heuberger was awarded his doctoral degree (PhD) in History at the University of Innsbruck and did his Habilitation (Venia Docendi) in 1914. He joined archival services and was appointed associate professor of Medieval History and Auxiliary Science to History by the University of Innsbruck. His research on Raetia in Late Antiquity and his study of Medieval private documents and on the chancery and registry systems still point the way. In 1917 Heuberger lost his eyesight and consequently every work he produced was the result of a painful and slow process. To continue with his research Richard Heuberger required the constant support of both his wife Johanna Heuberger née Helff-Hibler v. Alpenheim (1886-1963) and secretaries. They read the texts (historical documents) and books out loud to him, noted his ideas and comments, wrote texts, corrected and edited them.
His private life was just as extraordinary. As a youth living in Vienna, Heuberger experienced the rivalries of the different peoples inhabiting the Habsburg Empire in decline. During this period he came to develop a pan-German and Far Right mentality which would last for his entire life.
He fought Austro-fascism and was (secretly) hoping for the Anschluss. He supported National Socialism but fervently opposed it when he felt that it did not mirror his political convictions. The political, socio-economic and cultural upheaval at the turn of the century and the resulting search for true faith, the right mentality and the struggle to take the right actions were formative of his adult life. There were times when his character was eclipsed by his public role as a historian and university lecturer, but the fault-lines and decisive moments of his biography had a constant and noticeable effect on his thinking and actions.
When and where did these fault-lines occur? Did they make a lasting and important impression on him? This biography tries to answer these questions tracing the important moments and the turning points in the personal and public lives of Richard Heuberger.vorgelegt von Mag. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
