This research is focusing on the epistemological pattern of Islamic education during the Abbasid dynasty, especially during the Caliph Harun ar-Rashid. This study is library research using a historical approach. The research findings indicate that the background influencing the development of educational epistemology during the Abbasid dynasty, especially during the Caliph Harun is the translation movement, the construction of Bait al-Hikmah, the high number of Islamic educational institutions such as kuttab / maktab, low education in the palace, procurement of bookstores, the existence of Knowledge Convention, optimizing the function of mosques, madrasas for the public, and providing houses for ulema. More, the existence of scientists around the Caliph Harun promoted the progress of science, civilization, and Islamic education. In addition, the advance of political stability and economic circumstances during the Caliph Harun had also made scientific activity, Islamic education, and knowledge development becomes maximum. Moreover, Islamic education epistemology during the Caliph Harun can be mapped into three major streams of the underlying theory of knowledge, first, rational knowledge; second, sensory knowledge; and third, knowledge of Kasyaf through revelation or intuition. Several forms of knowledge developed from the epistemological style of Islamic education include the science of interpretation, the science of hadith, the science of kalam, the science of language, and the science of Tasawuf. Epistemology of Islamic education spawned many methods for scientific study such as nadzr, tadabur, tafakur, bayyinah, burhan, mulahzah, tajrib, istiqra, qiyas, tamsil, ta'wil, dzati, HISSI, khayali, aqli, syibhi, and more

The portrait of the interaction between Islam and the West (Christianity) is often narrated in a confrontational form. These two civilizations are often positioned as polar opposites. A series of conflicts both in the past such as the Crusades, or other conflicts in the contemporary era, have brought traumatic feelings and protracted mutual suspicion between the two. However, is it true that the relationship between Islam and the West is just a conflict? Is there a cooperative relationship between the political institutions of the Islamic and Christian worlds in history? This study uses historical methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography, as well as literature study techniques. From the results of the research, it was found that in the 8th century AD, the Abbasid dynasty had established cooperation with the Frankish Empire. The exchange of gifts and ambassadors symbolized the friendship between Caliph Harun Ar-Rashid and King Charlemagne. Politically, Caliph Harun Ar-Rashid supported Charlemagne to disrupt the existence of his fellow Muslim rivals, namely the Umayyad dynasty II in Andalusia. On the other hand, Charlemagne supported Harun Ar-Rashid in his conflict with the Byzantine Empire, the rival of the Frankish Empire among Christians. From these conditions, it can be concluded that at certain moments the Islamic world and the West can interact in a harmonious spectrum. This collaborative condition is also present in historical fragments, which are important to be narrated amidst the domination of confrontational historical narratives

Gladiolus is the 8th most important in the world cut flower trade grown for its elegant attractive spikes and good keeping quality. However, the farmers in Bangladesh have limited access to the scientific cultivation of this crop, and yield and quality production of flower is low compared to other gladiolus growing countries in the world. Growth regulating chemicals have been reported to be very effective in manipulating growth and flowering of gladiolus. Therefore, an experiment was conducted at the Landscaping section of the Department of Horticulture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, during the period from October 2017 to April 2018 to study the effect of corm size and growth regulators on growth, flowering and quality of gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflorus L.). The experiment consisted of two corm sizes viz., 3-4 and 4-5 cm, and two growth regulators viz., GA3 @ 250, 500 and 750 ppm, and NAA @ 100, 200 and 300 ppm along with water as control. The two-factor experiment was laid out in a randomised complete block design with three replications. The results revealed that the corm size and growth regulators at different concentrations significantly affected various growth, floral and quality traits of gladiolus. The highest plant height, maximum number of leaves per plant, longest leaf length, maximum number of florets per spike, longest spike and rachis length were observed in 4-5 cm sized corms and GA3 @ 750 ppm, compared to rest of the treatments. Earliness in flower initiation and maximum duration of flower was observed in 4-5 cm sized corms and GA3 @ 500 ppm. Significant variations among the treatment combinations were observed for all the parameters studied. The treatment combination of 4-5 cm sized corms and GA3 @ 750 ppm was found to be best in respect of growth, floral and quality characters of gladiolus. [Fundam Appl Agric 2018; 3(3.000): 596-601
