This thesis aims to, first and foremost, gain a more in-depth understanding of customer rates and reviews of Tri Giao Hotel on OTA websites. The author selected six leading OTA websites to conduct the research, i.e. TripAdvisor, Booking, Expedia, Agoda, Facebook, and Google. In addition, the study compared the Tri Giao Hotel with other four hotels, which are also local brand hotel and have 4-star international standard, in a competitive set. Finally, this thesis explored satisfaction and dissatisfaction determinants of service quality can affect customer satisfaction.    Since the main customers of Tri Giao Hotel are charters and from travel agencies, the customers from OTA have not been focused. Therefore, this research-oriented thesis selected Tri Giao Hotel as the commissioning company. This study used qualitative methods such as observation, interview with FOM, data collection on OTA websites, and content analysis. These methods are based on conceptual framework and theoretical framework, especially SERVQUAL model. After that, decisive factors that affect customers’ decisions to book a hotel room online were discovered. Hence, some suggestions on how to improve customer satisfaction through the OTA website were given.    The results revealed that the service quality of Tri Giao Hotel has a significant impact on customer satisfaction. Combining all the reviews on six main OTA websites, the hotel received 301 customer reviews and 199 written comments. The hotel review index was 90.6% and the management response was 58.8%. The service, staff, and value of the hotel makes the customer the most satisfied. However, the location of hotel and quality of the food were the main weaknesses that need to be improved. Besides, some other factors also affected customer satisfaction. Suggestions and new ideas were briefly discussed to improve customers’ satisfaction to Tri Giao Hotel

Using author tri-citation analysis to map knowledge domains in knowledge representations

    No full text
Purpose Previous commonly used author co-citation analysis (ACA) methods have limited the ability to deal with accidental co-citation in constructing a raw co-citation matrix. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a new method, called author tri-citation analysis (ATA), to better map knowledge domains and depict scientific intellectual structures. Design/methodology/approach Different from the previous method of using ACA that captures author co-citation relationships, the ATA method seeks tri-citation relationships among authors. Compared with ACA, ATA can ignore some accidental co-citation relationships between authors and can improve the accuracy of mapping knowledge domains. Findings Although ATA does not mine more sub-fields than ACA does, the results of the empirical studies show that ATA, the newly proposed method, performs better in knowledge domain maps based on publications in the field of computer science. Research limitations/implications The definition of ATA in this article is simple and still insufficiently informative. Many other pieces of information can be involved; for example, all authors’ information, authors’ sequence in the author list, reference published time and similar. These can be enhanced in future studies. Practical implications This research will enrich the methods of mapping knowledge domains due to its new perspective. Social implications Knowledge domain mapping is important to understand a discipline, and this research provides more potential methods for this, which benefits the performance of the maps. Originality/value ATA can provide a methodological awareness for mapping knowledge domains. This value lies in not only a tri-citation perspective, but also author bibliographic tripling and author tri-operation perspectives (“tri-” perspectives). </jats:sec

    Author Self-references: Authorial Voice.

ABSTRACT   Wijayanti, Lely Tri. 2013. Author Self-references: Authorial Voice. Thesis, English Department, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang. Advisor: Dr. YazidBasthomi, M.A   Keywords: author self-references, authorial voice, corpus study   Establishing strong authorial voice can be achieved through authorial explicit presence in a text. A number of the previous research projects have argued that first person pronoun is the most pivotal way in projecting the author identity. Building upon theerstwhile research findings(see e.g. Hyland, 2001; 2002b), the present corpus based study aims at examining kinds of author self-referencesand how they are employed by EFL learners to establish authorialvoice in thesis writing. The corpus data were taken from 124 undergraduate theses submitted in the past three consecutive years (2013, 2012, and 2011) to the English Department, State University of Malang. I utilized digital corpus software, namely AntConc 3.2.4w, to analyze the corpus comprising of 1.587.059 words in total. This process is an attempt to find out self-references established in thesis writing. Referring to Hyland (2001: 212) who has found 28 expressions of self-mention, there are no less than 18 varieties of author self-referencefound in this study, attesting the notion that the academic writing of EFL students undeniably indicates the enactment of authorial voice. Concerning the next question, the rhetorical choice of EFL students in employing self-references, I made some classifications regarding the distributionofself-references in the selected thesis’ sections—main and parenthetic academic texts—and the writer’s point of views: first person singular pronouns, first person plural pronouns and third person singular pronouns.Since the analysis of the present study used inductive method, the emergence of any issues in further discussion is likely to happen; hence, the present study also can be referred to as qualitative research. Despite the ample studies focused on first person pronouns as author self-representation, this study is distinct in that it discloses some empirics regarding the use of author non-pronoun self-references which stands out as the most prevalent author self-referencesin EFL students’ academic texts. Having said this, I hypothetically believe that the rhetorical choice of author self-references is very much influenced by current issues in academic writing and predominantly by cultural norms (and inculcation) of the EFL students.

Learning tensions – a multilevel model of organisational learning: an empirical study

    No full text
There is a growing recognition that the study of Organisational learning needs to be considered across three levels of analysis: individual, group, and organisational levels (March, 1991; Nonaka and Takeuchi, 1995; Crossan et al., 1999; 2011). Given the potential of multilevel research to extend the boundaries of the understanding of the field, this thesis aims to address how organisations learn as a multilevel system. The answers to the research inquiry were drawn from both theoretical works and by conducting an empirical investigation. To assist the investigation of the OL phenomenon in multilevel settings, a multilevel model of OL was proposed. The model provides analytical foci by specifying the learning tensions at the individual, group, and organisational levels. The model was employed in a case study of a Vietnamese public organisation, which had successfully undergone a business transformation. Through the contributions of this thesis, the author hopes to spark more interest in multilevel research of OL
