No full textCarte de visite portrait of Civil War officer Colonel Charles G. Harker. A notation on the back of the card states that he was "Killed at Kennesaw Mt June 27 / 64." Attached to the back of the card is a tax stamp. Harker was born in New Jersey in 1825, and graduated with distinction from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, in 1858. Harker served on the frontier until the beginning of the Civil War when he was ordered to Ohio. He accepted the position of Colonel of the 65th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was promoted to Captain in the regular Army. He distinguished himself at the battles of Pittsburgh Landing, the Siege of Corinth, Stone River, Chickamauga, Mission Ridge and Resaca. After the Battle of Chickamauga, he was promoted to Brigadier-General. Harker was mortally wounded at the battle of Kennesaw Mountain on June 27, 1864

Harker, Taylor and Company Water Cooler
No full textHarker, Taylor and Company of East Liverpool made this yellow ware water cooler. The solid yellow body is covered with a decorative glaze and a red ware plaque. It was probably made to enter in a national competition. Harker, Taylor and Company won a silver medal for its products in a national competition in 1848. Yellow ware and red ware pottery were two of the most common types of pottery manufactured in East Liverpool during the nineteenth century because of the large amounts of clay that could be found in the area. Before the invention of refrigeration, people used water coolers to keep water colder than room temperature. It measures 19" by 21" (48 by 54 cm). Harker, Taylor and Company were known for their high-quality Rockingham pottery, a brown-glazed type of pottery named for the Rockingham factory in England, and their yellow ware. Benjamin Harker Sr., an English immigrant, bought a farm near East Liverpool, Ohio in 1839 and soon realized it was rich in clay deposits. He sold the clay and eventually opened his own pottery, although he was not a potter. He leased the pottery to local potters, but the venture was not successful. Harker then hired potter John Goodwin to train his sons Benjamin Jr. and George in the pottery trade. In 1846 the Harkers were joined by James Taylor to create Harker, Taylor and Company. The pottery was manufactured at the company's three-story "Etruria" factory, named after the Wedgwood Company's factory in England

Deze classificatie bestaat uit een selectie van Nederlandse opleidingen, beroepen en bedrijfssectoren die handmatig, doch op basis van enkele beslisregels zijn gekozen. Toepassing van deze classificatie in de praktijk kan meer inzichten opleveren over eventuele mogelijkheden voor verdere verfijning ervan

O rumor como frêmito em relatos de Augusto Roa Bastos

Programa de Pós-graduação em LiteraturaEsse trabalho tece algumas considerações sobre características do conto roabastiano de acordo com alguns teóricos e contistas latino-americanos, suas aproximações e afastamentos, que o fazem um contista destacado não só do Cone Sul. Considero a "poética das variações" uma maneira singular de Augusto Roa Bastos, ao tratar seus textos, como traço que atravessa toda sua obra. Observando também como o rumor, segundo princípios de Roland Barthes, apresenta-se como meio de significação e fruição do texto.O silêncio e a dualidade configuram duas características que podem ser consideradas como vias do rumor e proporcionam o frêmito da leitura. No corpo da dissertação se encontra dissolvida a análise de "Contar un cuento", do livro El Baldio (1963), que serve como referência do gesto roabastiano com respeito ao conto. Também faço referencia ao romance Contravida (1995) para tentar fundamentar alguns mecanismos roabastianos relativos a sua escritura como "poética das variações". Quanto ao silêncio e à dualidade, analiso três contos, "La tumba viva", "Nonato" y "Borrador de un informe", destacando em cada um as características que mais convergem para as vias do rumor, e possibilitam diferentes fruições do texto

Full text linkThe article provides an approach to the intellectual and revolutionary trajectory of Raúl Roa García, one of the most prominent figures on the insular panorama throughout the past century. Several of his most outstanding contributions in terms of ideas are examined from this angle. In the same way, the scope of his contributions as a writer and university professor is weighed, as well as his performance in important responsibilities after the revolutionary triumph. In that direction, the valuations related to his work as Minister of Foreign Affairs stand out, a task to which he devoted himself with unparalleled passion and in which he achieved extraordinary results. The distinction that his people granted him as "Chancellor of Dignity" represents, in this sense, the highest demonstration of his ascendancy in the popular imagination for all time. Likewise, Roa\u27s mark on the international framework is recognized, particularly in the epic battles he waged on behalf of Cuba in the United Nations (UN).En el artículo se brinda una aproximación a la trayectoria intelectual y revolucionaria de Raúl Roa García, una de las figuras más prominentes del panorama insular, a lo largo de la centuria pasada. Se examinan, desde ese ángulo, varias de sus contribuciones más destacadas en el plano de las ideas. De igual forma se pondera el alcance de sus contribuciones como escritor y profesor universitario, así como en el desempeño de importantes responsabilidades después del triunfo revolucionario. En esa dirección, sobresalen las apreciaciones vinculadas con su labor como Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, tarea a la que se consagró con inigualable pasión y en la cual alcanzó extraordinarios resultados. La distinción que le otorgara su pueblo de “Canciller de la Dignidad” representa, en este sentido, la más elevada demostración de su ascendencia, en el imaginario popular, para todos los tiempos. Se reconoce, asimismo, la impronta de Roa en el entramado internacional, particularmente en las épicas batallas que libró, a nombre de Cuba, en la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU)
Augusto Roa Bastos: entre Nambréna e ausência, uma escritura caleidoscópica
Full text linkTese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2015.O presente trabalho tem a finalidade de demonstrar como a escritura de Augusto Roa Bastos se articula, com o passar do tempo, a uma multiplicidade de elementos em constante movimento e desenvolve, assim, uma escritura caleidoscópica. Nambréna, palavra guarani que remete ao desprezo pelo autóctone como resquício de um sistema colonial e segue com os seus tentáculos na sociedade paraguaia, se apresenta desde os primeiros escritos roabastianos sendo um desses componentes. Outras características importantes como a realidade delirante, um texto ausente que ecoa no silêncio e na consciência, juntamente com a experiência do exílio, atuam na sua escritura como rizoma em multiplicidade de conexões que se estabelecem entre e no interior das obras e são utilizadas como em um caleidoscópio, por isso uma escritura caleidoscópica. Para tanto, a leitura crítica do primeiro livro de contos  El trueno entre las hojas (1953)  se faz basilar para a análise desses movimentos que foram, com o passar do tempo, sendo utilizados e modificados e, como frêmito, reverberam em Contravida (1995) e Madama Sui (1996). José Manuel Silvero desenvolve um discurso filosófico sobre a condição de nambréna. A concepção de rizoma, de Deleuze e Guattari, serve de direção na construção dos elementos da escritura caleidoscópica, do mesmo modo os autores que tratam de escritura e de autoria, como Roland Barthes, Walter Benjamin e Michel Foucault, além de outros teóricos que são referenciais para a construção dessa perspectiva de leitura de uma escritura caleidoscópica.Abstract : The present work has the objective of showing how the writing of Augusto Roa Bastos articulates itself with the passage of time at a multiplicity of elements in constant motion and develops, thus, a kaleidoscopic writing. Nambréna, Guarani word that refers to the spite for the autochthone as a residue of a colonial system that carries on its tentacles in Paraguayan society, presents itself since the early roabastian writings being one of its components. Other important characteristics such as the delirious reality, an absent text that echoes in the silence and in conscience, along with the experience of exile, act in his writing as a rhizome in multiplicity of connections that are established between and inside the work and are used as in a kaleidoscope, thus a kaleidoscopic writing. To this end, the critical reading of the first short story book  El trueno entre las hojas (1953)  is made basic for the analysis of these movements that were with the passing of time being used and modified and, as a shiver, reverberate in Contravida (1995) and Madama Sui (1996). José Manuel Silvero develops a philosophical discourse on the condition of nambréna. The concept of rhizome, by Deleuze and Guattari, functions in the direction of the construction of the elements of kaleidoscopic writing, in the same way as with the authors who deal with writing and authorship, such as Roland Barthes, Walter Benjamin and Michel Foucault, besides other theorists that are referential to the construction of this perspective of the reading of a kaleidoscopic writing
Methodiek regionale arbeidsmarktprognoses 2015-2020
Full text linkVanwege het toenemend belang van regionale arbeidsmarktinformatie stelt het Researchcentrum voor Onderwijs en Arbeidsmarkt (ROA) van de Universiteit Maastricht sinds 2013 regionale arbeidsmarktprognoses naar opleiding voor Nederland op.1 Deze regionale prognoses zijn afgeleid van en dienen tevens ter aanvulling op de bekende landelijke arbeidsmarktprognoses. Dit technisch rapport geeft de methodiek weer die gevolgd is bij het vertalen van de landelijke arbeidsmarktprognoses van het ROA naar 35 arbeidsmarktregio’s alsook een beknopt overzicht van enkele resultaten ter illustratie van de gehanteerde methodiek. De volledige regionale prognoses zijn beschikbaar via het ArbeidsmarktInformatieSysteem (AIS), waarmee gebruikers zelf op eenvoudige wijze de gewenste tabellen kunnen samenstellen.2 Daarnaast zal het ROA in het najaar van 2016 een publicatie uitbrengen dat gericht is op de resultaten van de regionale prognoses ter aanvulling op de hier gepresenteerde methodiek. Ook zal het ROA middels de regionale arbeidsmarktprognoses een bijdrage leveren aan de Regio in Beeld publicaties van het UWV die voor elke arbeidsmarktregio apart worden uitgebracht (najaar 2016)
