    No full text
The retail sector is experiencing a transformation with the entry of modern retailers in Pakistan. As a result, now consumers have a choice of shopping either at traditional or modern retailers. The study is aimed at finding out the determinants of consumer retail format choice between traditional and modern retailers. To this end, primary data were collected through personal interviews of 250 respondents who were intercepted randomly while shopping at different retail places in Lahore and Faisalabad - the two highly populated and major cities in Pakistan. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, and binary logit model were employed for the analysis of data. Results indicated age, being accompanied with family while shopping, income and five store-related attributes such as store design and environment, promotion, product quality, employee behavior and location as the important determinants of consumer retail format choice in Pakistan. The study recommends that traditional retailers need to upgrade their businesses and align themselves with changing consumer preferences. Modern retailers should make their store design and environment more attractive, ensure product quality and improve promotional strategies and employee responsiveness for enhancing their customer base. Findings can be useful to the strengthening of both the retail formats in Pakistan

TINJAUAN HUKUM ISLAM TERHADAP AKAD SEWA MENYEWA BECAK MOTOR (STUDI KASUS DESA KUMBANG INDAH, KECAMATAN BADAR, KABUPATEN ACEH TENGGARA)

This paper discusses the review of Islamic law on the contract to rent a motorized trishaw in the Village of Beetle Indah, Badar Sub-district, Southeast Aceh district. The author is interested in conducting this research to obtain an overview of the contract for renting a motorized trishaw which is a public vehicle for which there is no standard fixed rate, so it will be reviewed from the perspective of Islamic law. To get answers to research problems, the author conducts research using field research methods which have a starting point on descriptive qualitative. This research is about leasing contracts Motorized rickshaws are related to both parties, namely the lessor (motorized rickshaw owner) and the renter (the rickshaw passengers), in this case all good explanations are needed regarding the distance to be traveled and the costs agreed by both parties. because renting only uses the function or benefits of the goods or objects being rented out without owning the goods or objects, so the motorbike rickshaw still belongs to the person who rents it but the benefits are used by the person who rents it by providing compensation in the form of fees provided that the distance traveled.

Measurement of free calcium concentration in 3D bio-printed alginate scaffolds

    No full text
Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting uses bioinks to print scaffolds that mimic natural living structures that are used for applications such as in vitro modelling of drug delivery. A common bioprinting method exposes an ionically crosslinking hydrogel, such as alginate, to a crosslinking ion such as calcium. Our lab recently developed a novel CaCl2 mist-based system for crosslinking ion exposure. However, it is known that cell viability is strongly affected by the concentration of extracellular calcium. The goal of this project is to investigate the impact of the presence of free calcium in 3D prints of alginate crosslinked with CaCl2 mist. The four variables are the concentration of CaCl2 mist, the mist flow rate, the printing speed, and the incubation time. The standardized scaffolds are incubated in cell culture media and a sample is removed and tested using a calcium colorimetric assay to determine the amount of free calcium present. Future work will include comparing the results to literature data on cell viability as a function of the amount of free calcium present to determine optimum printing parameters for the mist-based system that combines good “printability” with high cellular viability. Website-Based Student Achievement Book Using the Waterfall Method

    No full text
Al Qur'an Education Park (TPA) Al Badar has approximately thirty students, but that number will continue to grow. The recording of achievement cards is done manually, and everything is done by the Al-Badar TPA teacher. Usually, teachers record student learning outcomes using achievement cards, and achievement cards are filled out after students learn to read Iqro or the Qur'an and handed over to their students. However, amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face meetings are very difficult, especially between teachers and participants who are undergoing online teaching. Based on the problems that occurred at the Al Badar TPA regarding the recording of student achievement and the importance of technology for education, it is necessary to have an information system at the Al Badar TPA. The method used in this research is the waterfall method approach in the manufacture of information systems with several stages, including problem identification, system requirements analysis, system design, system creation, and system testing, and also system analysis. In making the system, PHP and MySQL are used with the CodeIgniter framework. In system testing, the author uses two methods of black-box testing and white-box system testing. While the results of the analysis of the system in terms of testing the quality ofservice users, namely by using usability testing. The results of this study are a website-based student achievement book as an online learning achievement record book that can function well, both systemically and from the user's side of the application and greatly assists the needs of the Al-Badar TPA during the pandemic. The results obtained from the usability testing analysis are 90%, so it can conclude that the system is feasible and easy to use. So, a website-based student achievement book as book’s achievement record online can function properly and greatly help the needs of the TPA Al-Badar during the pandemic

The city of Lahore (Pakistan) is suffering from a severe environmental crisis. Water related issues such as droughts, floods and waterborne diseases have interrupted the accessibility of citizens to basic amenities. At the TU Delft, I have been approaching these issues in the Explore Lab Studio for my Master’s graduation. In my approach as a future architect, abandoned heritage – Bradlaugh Hall - will serve as an experimental laboratory for testing new ideas along with the reimplantation of local methods for climatization. In terms of programming, a common ground will be set up to narrate the existing boundaries to impede people from meeting fellow citizens out of their circle. Addressing the socio-economic segregation that has characterized Lahore since the colonial rule and has worsened in the last decades. The interaction and transgression among people will allow to learn, express and exchange ideas. Contributing to provoke awareness among citizens regarding their role in society. Along with an urban vision of reconnecting the city with the green structures as an mitigation strategy, the gardens culture will be reintegrated in the life of communities. Who have inherited the beautiful environment as part of their heritage.Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences | Explorela

    No full text
This study seeks to capture the mango value preferences of consumers in Pakistan with a view to identifying potential improvements in value chain practices in the mango industry. Data were collected through five focus group discussions and an intercept survey of 450 consumers in four cities of Pakistan. Three consumer clusters were identified through cluster analysis. These clusters had significant differences in terms of their search, experience, safety and marketing attributes. Given the existing consumer value preferences and likely changes in consumer behavior, the study suggested that value chain actors can improve their practices so as to improve consumer value and achieve higher returns
