ABSTRACT The objectives of this research are (1) to find out wheter or not the use of scientific approach improves the students’ English reading comprehension of the twelfth grade of SMKN 1 Rangas. (2) to find out wheter or not the twelfth grade students of SMKN 1 Rangas are motivated in learning reading using of scientific approach. This research employed quasi-experimental design. It used two groups, one received treatment Scientific Approach and the other group received (three phase technique). The subjects of this research were XI Multimedia A and XI TPHP A. These two classes were then taken purposive to represent them as experiment and control group. XI Multimedia A was chosen as the experimental group which consisted of 25 students, while XI TPHP A was chosen as control group which consisted of 25 students. The data of this research was collected through Reading test and questionnaire. The results of the research were (1) the use of Scientific Approach improved the reading comprehension of the tewelfth grade students of SMKN 1 Rangas in experimental class. The same to the use of Three Phase Technique also improved the reading ability of the twelfth grade students of SMKN 1 Rangas in control class. Data showed mean score of experimental group was greater in post-test (64.64) than pre-test (37.76) or 64.64 > 37.76. And experimental group as a range from post-test (64.64) to pre-test (37.76) was 26.88. (2) the motivation of XI Multimedia A as experimental class in learning reading by using scientific approach showed that a great positive. It could be proved by the result of students’ motivation was obtained by analyzing frequency and percentage. Their results were 2 (8%) of students were fairly motivated, then 23 (92%) of students who were motivated. So it can be conclude that this approach was very effective to apply in improving the students’ reading comprehension

This study aims to identify the cost both financially and economically, and the determination of financial and economic benefits for the feasibility of the production of Sago waste in an effort of utilizing it into animal feed products which has commercially economic value. Availability of abundant sago dregs resulting from the process of producing sago (sago Metroxylon) is a problem for rural communities because it pollutes the environment and become useless waste. Sago waste utilization in large scale rarely occurs in Indonesia. One of other alternatives in utilizing sago waste is converting it into the main raw material of animal feed production. This allows a solution to overcome the chains of poverty that spreads in the countryside as well as increasing the low level of production and revenue of society. One of the obstacles faced by the farming business is about inadequate nutritional needs of cattle and high prices of packaged animal feed in market, so it still takes effort to cope with the problems by utilizing alternative feed sources which are affordable and abundant in terms of quantity. The data that will be used in this study include primary and secondary data. The method of analysis used in this study to determine the financial and economical benefits, as well as the financial and economic costs, is using shadow pricing method, estimation Opportunity Cost of Capital (OOC) method, analysis of Investment feasibility and sensitivity. The results of the financial analysis shows that the business of making cattle feed made from sago waste is feasible. The results of the sensitivity analysis with the scenario shows that in the business of making cattle feed would not be feasible on the condition in which the decline in the amount of output (sago waste) by 10 percent accompanied by falls captive market by 10 percent, fixed costs (labor experts and operational) by 20 percent. Switching Value Analysis shows that these efforts will not be feasible on a decline in potential waste sago of more than 18.428 percent and a captive market decline by 12 percent

This research aims at describing, analyzing and interpreting the evaluation of the implementation of National Program for Community Empowerment in Kabonga Besar. This is a qualitative research with descriptive method and the data collection techniques are observations, interviews, and documentations. This research involved 6 informants taken purposively. This research used the model of William Dunn policy evaluation, and it is obtained that the result is not optimal, and the factors which affected, namely: 1)the aspect of effectiveness is not optimal, because there are still problems women's credit refund is not smooth, 2) the aspect of efficiency is good, because the funds disbursed can be utilized as much as possible for the needs of the community, 3) the aspect of adequacy is good, because the program provides benefits to the villagers, 4) the leveling aspect is good, because the program spread to all levels of society, 5) the aspect of responsiveness is good, where the beneficiaries are satisfied with the program existence 5) the aspect of accuracy is good, because the beneficiaries consider that the program is useful for them

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
