Comparaison des performances d'une méthode de planification appliquée à plusieurs politiques de programmation opératoire
No full textDans cette communication, nous présentons une méthode de planification des blocs opératoires permettant d'affecter les interventions programmées sur un horizon de T jours (généralement une semaine) aux salles d'opérations (Chaabane, 2004 ; Guinet et Chaabane, 2003). Nous appliquons cette méthode pour des politiques de programmation opératoire différentes afin de déterminer laquelle est la meilleure pour notre cas d'étude. Dans la littérature, trois politiques de programmation sont abordées : la "Programmation ouverte» (Open Scheduling), la "Programmation par allocation préalable des plages horaires" (Block Scheduling) et la "Programmation par allocation préalable des plages horaires avec processus d'ajustement" (Modified Block Scheduling) (Marcon et Kharraja 2003 ; Chaabane et al., 2003). Dans ce travail nous nous focalisons sur les deux premières politiques ainsi que sur la politique de programmation opératoire adoptée par le Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Tivoli (Belgique)
From knowledge to skills: training for transition jobs. Interview with Alain Grandjean

He is also cofounder and partner of Carbone 4, a consultancy firm focusing on energy transition and adaptation to climate change. The interview first revolves around the academic content Alain Grandjean considers as the bare necessities to be taught in higher education, no matter the curriculum. This should take the form of a basic synthetic training which takes into account the major environmental issues without too much technicality as well as lessons in accounting and economics, which he considers essential. The interview also looks more specifically at engineering and business schools. Then Alain Grandjean shares his views on the effectiveness of different ways to engage for the transition -like radical individual lifestyle transformations and civil disobiedience. He also evokes the roles that trade unions as well as NGOS can play and he talks about collapsology
A discrete event simulation model for the admission of patients to a home care rehabilitation service
No full textThe admission of new patients to Home Care (HC) services is a relevant problem, which requires managing waiting lists while respecting a maximum admissible period between patient’s request and service beginning. In the literature, this problem is only marginally addressed when compared to other HC management issues, e.g., visit scheduling and patient assignment to personnel. The goal of our work is to develop a discrete event simulation framework for analysing admission policies and waiting list management strategies in HC services. In this paper, we propose and test a first model for the admission of patients to a HC rehabilitation service, where the care service must start within a fixed period from the acute event. We refer to the specific case of a provider operating according to the regulation of the health system of Milan, Italy, which is however general enough to derive general considerations. Results show the effectiveness of the methodology for this application, its versatility, and a quantitative evaluation of some directions of improvement in the system
