Williamson e “formas híbridas”: uma proposta de redefinição do debate
Get PDFEste artigo procura entender a questão das “formas híbridas” na análise de Williamson, a partir de um conceito que esse autor considera de fundamental importância para a sua explicação, o de “modo de adaptação”. Porém, tal conceito na sua origem é dinâmico, mas enquadrado por Williamson numa análise estática, fato reconhecido pelo próprio autor. Assim, o objetivo do artigo é mostrar que, com um maior refinamento teórico da noção de formas híbridas, o conceito de adaptação pode ser redefinido de forma mais dinâmica. Isso torna a noção de formas híbridas ainda mais útil do que atualmente para o entendimento da cooperação interfirmas como uma importante estratégia empresarial na busca da criação de vantagens competitivasAbstract This article studies the “hybrid forms” in Williamson’s analysis, starting from a concept that this author considers of fundamental importance for its explanation, the “adaptation mode”. However, such concept is dynamic in your origin, but framed for Williamson in a static analysis, like recognized by the own author. Thus, the objective of this article is to show that, with a theoretical improvement of the notion of hybrid forms, the concept of adaptation can be redefined in a more dynamic way. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Capacitações dinâmicas, coordenação e cooperação interfirmas: as visões Freeman-Lundvall e Teece-Pisano
Get PDFEste artigo pretende mostrar que o enfoque das "capacitações dinâmicas" da firma, quando aborda o tema da cooperação interfirmas, pode ser dividido em duas vertentes razoavelmente distintas, no que se refere a desenvolvimentos teóricos sobre sua coordenação: (i) uma análise denominada "Freeman-Lundvall", que teoricamente busca interfaces com abordagens da sociologia; e (ii) uma análise denominada "Teece-Pisano", teoricamente bastante próxima da abordagem dos custos de transação. Conclui-se que a visão "Teece-Pisano" é a única entre as duas que é compatível com uma teoria dos contratos, o que a permite considerar uma importante fonte de vantagem competitiva - a economia de custos de transação. Por isso, é analiticamente mais relevante se a cooperação é tratada, em termos teóricos, como uma estratégia subordinada ao processo de concorrência capitalista

No full textThe present paper analyzes how to combine, at a theoretical level, the concept of inter-firm cooperation, the Williamson\u27s hostage model, and the notion of "shadow ofthe future" from game theory. In this sense, the analysis starts from Williamson\u27s view concerning inter-firm cooperation, contained in "hybrid form" concept. The focus of this analysis is the study of mutual agreement of specific assets and ofthe evolution of the behavior of agents (trust or opportunist). The main conclusion is that these subjects are essential for understanding how the agents seek to reduce transaction costs (and a better "adaptation"), and thus, higher chances of creating a competitive advantage when making a cooperative agreemen
Cooperação interfirmas: a necessidade da construção de um "paradigma teórico"
Get PDFThis paper proposes a redefinition of the debate concerning to the inter-firm
cooperation. In order to reach this objective, instead of to use the concept of
inter-firm network, as common in many studies on the theme, this analysis is
based on the idea that cooperation is a strategy of the individual firm. It is
considered two main issues (efficiency and coordination) for the understanding
of cooperation, both needing detailed analysis. The paper concludes that only
with the elaboration of a “theoretical paradigm” that includes the firm’s approaches
of Dynamic Capabilities and of Transaction Costs, besides elements of the Game
Theory, such issues and the interfirm cooperation will be fully understood.Neste artigo, propõe-se uma redefinição do debate sobre cooperação interfirmas.
Para alcançar esse objetivo, tomou-se como ponto de partida a análise da cooperação
como estratégia da firma individual, em vez do conceito de rede de
firmas, conforme é comum em muitos estudos sobre o tema. Considera-se que
dois grupos de questões (eficiência e coordenação) são essenciais para o entendimento
da cooperação, necessitando, ambos, de análise detalhada. No artigo,
conclui-se que somente com a construção de um “paradigma teórico” que
inclua as abordagens da firma das Capacitações Dinâmicas e dos Custos de
Transação, além de elementos da Teoria dos Jogos, tais grupos de questões e
a própria cooperação interfirmas poderão ser plenamente entendidos.
