Kampens nya former. Klasskamp och klasstruktur sedan de vilda strejkerna
[The new forms of struggle. Class struggle and class structure since the wildcat strikes]In his article, Magnus Granberg analyzes changes in the forms of the class struggle in relation to changes in the class structure of Swedish society. By focusing on the class struggle’s qualitative changes in form, the analysis argues against a primarily quantitative tradition in Swedish and international research on labor disputes. Within a differentiated pattern of conflict where workers combine what Granberg identifies as Fordist, logistical and reproductive power resources, new forms of struggle emerge, illustrated here by the “collective resignation” whose impact stems not least from increasing commodification of public services. To understand the changes in the pattern of conflict, quantitative and qualitative data are used that shed light on how the transformation of class structure and capital leads to new proletarian forms of consciousness and struggle. In a comparative perspective, the emerging Swedish pattern of conflict corresponds to the distinctive features of the international struggle that took place after the economic crisis of 2007–2009.Publication history: Published original.(Published 10 December 2020)Citation: Granberg, Magnus (2020) “Kampens nya former. “MY DEAR, CLOSE AND DISTANT FRIEND”: Nina Berberova’s Letters to Sergej Rittenberg (1947–1975)
Nina Berberova (1901–1993) almost appears to have lived several lives. First, she was a young writer in the revolutionary Russia. Then she witnessed the hectic 1920s in Berlin and achieved her literary breakthrough in interwar Paris with psychologically finely-honed novels and short stories set in the Russian émigré community. Finally, she went on in the latter half of the century to a career as a Slavist in the United States. She had her eyes on Russia the whole time. As an academic she studied the cracks in the ideological wall and seems early on to have foreseen her return to her homeland. At last, as she approached the age of ninety, she had vanquished the Soviet Union and could go back in triumph in the “revolutionary” year of 1989.
In addition to everything else Berberova was an avid letter writer who maintained a great many correspondences. For nearly thirty years she was friends with her Russian – and Petersburgian –countryman Sergej Rittenberg (1899–1975) in Stockholm, to whom she sent more than 150 letters and postcards between 1947 and 1975. A reflection of her thoughts and reading interests, they also provide a glimpse into the genesis of her huge memoir The Italics Are Mine (Kursiv moj).
This volume presents Berberova’s letters with an introduction and extensive commentaries by Professor Magnus Ljunggren

Mathematical induction at the tertiary level: looking behind appearences
The relevance of inductive proofs in Mathematics is beyond question and the research in Mathematics Education has widely documented the students’ difficulties in under- standing and applying mathematical induction, both at secondary school level and at university level. In this paper, we present a qualitative study involving third year Mathematics degree students aimed at investigating the solidity/fragility of mathe- matical induction comprehension. The results highlight that mathematical induction is a very hard topic also in this context, in which are involved mathematical competent students. We argue the need to design non-standard activities able to get the miscon- ceptions emerge, in order to support a deep understanding of the topic
The first-time phenomenon: successful students' mathematical crisis in secondary-tertiary transition
The huge difficulties related to the transition from secondary to tertiary mathematics are documented by several official data. The analysis of these difficulties is a main issue in educational research at undergraduate level. It is of particular interest the case of the students who choose mathematics as a major. In fact, for the most part, they are students considered excellent in mathematics during secondary school, they seem to have the cognitive resources to succeed, but, in many cases, they encounter several difficulties during their university experience. Therefore, it appears particularly interesting to study also the affective sources and consequences of these difficulties. With this aim, we developed a qualitative and narrative study focused on students’ reflec- tions about their mathematical difficulties in the university experience
