Title: Potentially hazardous elements in lake sediments as an indicator of prehistoric metallurgy in the Ohrid region (Northern Macedonia) Author: Bc. Marie Hořenínová Department: Geochemistry, mineralogy and mineral resources Supervisor: RNDr. Jan Hošek, Ph.D., \ Česká geologická služba Consultant: Dr. Phil. Marek Verčík \ Ústav pro klasickou archeologii Consultant: doc. RNDr. Jakub Trubač, Ph.D., \ Ústav geochemie, mineralogie a nerostných zdrojů Abstract: \ This thesis employs a multi-proxy geoarchaeological approach to evaluate the environmental impact of early mining and metallurgy in the Ohrid-Prespa region of North Macedonia. High- resolution geochemical analyses (XRF, ICP-OES, ICP-MS), Bayesian age-depth modelling, and lead isotope data from lake sediment cores reveal anthropogenic signatures tied to changes in land use and metallurgical activity in the sedimentary record. Elevated concentrations of potentially hazardous elements (PHEs) correlate with episodes of slash-and-burn agriculture during the Neolithic and Late Bronze Age, as well as intensified metallurgical activity from the Hellenistic period through Late Antiquity, with clear synchronous signatures in glacial lakes around 2000 cal BP. Archaeological evidence supports the interpretation that metallurgical activities expanded alongside..

Autor artykułu opisał trzynaście przykładów dzieł sztuki (malarstwa, grafiki, rzeźby, medalierstwa, numizmatyki, kartografii) mających związek z medalem i żetonem gloryfikującym postać małżonki Jana III Sobieskiego. The author of the article described thirteen examples of the works of art (of painting, graphics, sculpture, metallic art, numismatics, cartography) correlating with the medal and the token extolling the figure of the wife of Jan III Sobieski. The author shows how the majority of artistic ideas that were used by the medalist in the artistic composition to a smaller or larger degree refer to an earlier graphic and medallic formulae. Regarding the reverse side of the Marie Casimire coin one could speak to the inspiration of antique money (denar from cir. 71 BCE) and later numismats (medals from 1670) and prints published in a collection Jacobus Typotius (emblem of Rudolph II of Habsburg) and composition made in the fresco technique (Diana's image on the chariot from the inside of the Catholic monastery St. Paul in Parma). The front side of the medal of the kings wife was based on earlier sketches of Marie Casimire created in the workshop of Francesca Leone. The revers side however contains an image of Juno moving on a chariot towards the sun and the image of Gdańsk, this is supported by contemporary cartographic surroundings closest to him, shown on the medal which John Höhn (Hoehn) the elder designed in 1654. It seems this was the basis for the later work of his son, John Höhna (Hoehna)

The Image of Jan Hus in the Early Modern Czech Literature

The work The Image of Jan Hus in the Early Modern Czech Literature tries to map different ways of description of this Czech preacher in selected literary texts from 15th to 18th century, to capture the changes which his image underwent. The chosen authors come from different countries and use different languages, represent different environments, social classes and opinion groups, they also have different education and religion. Individual literary works were assessedby means of comparing the key episodes that are either repeated in the texts, or the author intentionally did not use them. To understand the image of Jan Hus as a whole, also contemporary iconography was taken into account , which in some cases has been taken from other literary texts than those which were compared, so that the image of Hus whereas complete as possible. The comparison of the texts and iconography showed, how accurate the observation of the described scheme was and how the image of Jan Hus was gradually changing. The combination of written and iconographic material from specific time intervals allowed us to observe the gradual change of conceptions of the personality of Jan Hus and events connected with him, because the authors represent the opinion of their ethnic group and time. The image of Jan Hus is therefore very..

Depmana (1960), którzy znali go osobiście. Jan Ptaszycki was a Polish mathematician working in St. Petersburg in the period 1876–1912. In Poland, he is forgotten, and in Russia considered generally as a Russian mathematician, known there as Ivan Lvovich Ptaszycki. In Russian literature about history of mathematics, depending on the author, it is reported that Ptaszycki was a Russian mathematician or, more rarely, a Polish mathematician as, for example, in Lokot (2015, 2018). The important information about Ptaszycki comes from the obituaries of K. A. Posse (1912) and S. Dickstein (1912) and from the memoirs of I. Ja. Depman (1960), that is from people who knew him personally. We wanted to make known to the contemporary reader this forgotten Polish mathematician working in St. Petersburg. This article tries to reach his work and achievement in mathematics as well as information about his activity. After discussing his biography, we briefly discuss his mathematical work. At the end of this paper, we quote articles and books related to Ptaszycki scientific achievements and we present a full list of his published works and books, and also references where one can find information about him.Validerad;2019;Nivå 1;2019-08-20 (johcin)</p
