Quasi un secolo, tra 'cronaca' e 'fantasia': Corrado Alvaro e la diaristica italiana
This research aims at analyzing the phenomenon of the 20th century Italian diaries, considered as a literary genre. The powerful devastation of History plays a great role in defeating the old centricity of the “I” (pronoun as well as subject) and the diary isn’t a mere representation of the self anymore, but it hybridizes with the note-book and turns into a subjective chronicle of the present. My work tries to prove it by studying about a hundred of Italian diaries. After an introduction about theoretical studies, the first section focuses on the structure of the diary, its style (the use of subjective pronouns and tenses, the choice of the fragment and the level of literacy), the most frequent functions (the quest for identity, the evaluation of the whole life, the struggle for saving private and social memory, a neurotic exercise, but also the diary as a fictional genre). The diary deals with evergreen themes, such as sincerity and authenticity, love, money and metaliterary comments. After the writing, it can be reread, corrected and published; it arouses strong reactions among the readers, the other diarists, but also some philological problems for the publishers. This approach has been applied to Corrado Alvaro’sQuasi una vitaandUltimo diarioas two very representative cases of 20th century Italian diary: they combine over thirty years of fragments about History, Literature, while the author looks for his writing style and his role in the present
Two new phoxocephalids (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Phoxocephalidae) from the south-west Atlantic
A new genus and species, Parafoxiphalus longicarpus, and a new species, Metharpinia protuberantis belonging to the family Phoxocephalidae, are described from the Argentine Sea. Both taxa were collected from sandy substrata in the intertidal and subtidal regions. Parafoxiphalus longicarpus is related to Foxiphalus Barnard, 1979 and they share many characters, most of them in plesiomorphic condition. Metharpinia protuberantis is an intermediate species between Metharpinia Schellenberg, 1931 and Microphoxus Barnard, 1960, and its assignation to the first genus is discussed.Fil: Alonso, Gloria Maria. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Three-Dimensional Virtual Environments for Cybertherapy: A Psychosocial approach to Effective Usability
The present study is to be considered in the framework of the VEPSY UPDATED project, whose main objective is to prove the technical and clinical viability of using virtual reality therapy (VRT) in clinical psychology by means of portable and shared VR systems. This contribution illustrates the attempt to elaborate a new psychosocial model of usability evaluation analysis, allowing general definitions in the context of the project, by considering areas of VR not yet completely explored from the usability point of view. The theoretical background is based upon an ethnometodological approach, a perspective that gives evidence of how people, in specific social situations, are able to solve complex tasks producing shared meanings and achieving their goals during the interactions, in order to make their actions understandable and successful
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Fil: Alonso, Gloria Maria.
