    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The aims of this research was: (1) to improve learning archievment of student in subject matter stoichiometry by applying of problem posing method with completed power point media, (2) to improve social interaction of student in subject matter stoichiometry by applying of problem posing method with completed power point media. This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisted of planning, actions, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were 32 students of X3 class in SMA Batik 2 Surakarta. The data were obtained by teachers and students and collection technique were test and non-test (observations, document review, and questionnaire). We used descriptive qualitative technique to analyze the data. The result of this research showed that the application of problem posing method could improve result learning and social interaction on subject matter Stoichiometry. The improvement quality of student archievement progress could be seen the increasing of cognitive test and affective test, while the improvement quality of social interactions could be seen from observations sheets and social interactions questionnaire. The percentation of cognitive test, affective test, observation, and social interaction questionnaire outcomes were 37,14%; 67,91%; 64,36%; and 64,93% on cycle I and 71, 43%; 72,83%; 70,79%; dan 74,40% on cycle II. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X3 SMA Batik 2 Surakarta yang berjumlah 35 siswa. Sumber data berasal dari guru dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah dengan tes dan non tes (observasi, kajian dokumen dan angket). Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis diskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode pembelajaran problem posing dilengkapi media power point dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar dan interaksi sosial siswa pada materi pokok Stoikiometri. Peningkatan prestasi belajar dapat dilihat dari hasil tes kognitif dan tes afektif. Untuk peningkatan interaksi sosial dapat dilihat dari observasi langsung dan angket interaksi sosial. Persentase hasil tes kognitif, afektif, observasi langsung dan angket interaksi sosial siswa pada siklus I berturut-turut 37,14%; 67,91%; 64,36%; 64,93%. Untuk hasil yang diperoleh pada siklus II secara berturut-turut yaitu 71, 43%; 72,83%; 70,79%; dan 74,40%.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Pembimbing: (I) Prof. Dr. Sumarmi, M.Pd (II) Satti Wagistina, S.P, M.Si.   Kata Kunci: kinerja pelayanan, tanggapan penumpang, pelabuhan.   Pelabuhan Penyeberangan Jangkar merupakan pelabuhan yang melayani arus penyeberangan alternatif penumpang maupun barang yang menghubungkan Pulau Jawa (Kabupaten Situbondo) dan Pulau Madura dan Sepudi (Kabupaten Sumenep). Pelabuhan Jangkar mulai beroperasi pada tahun 1986. Pada kurun waktu tahun 1999-2005, Pelabuhan Jangkar merupakan pelabuhan yang cukup ramai dengan arus bongkar muat penumpang dan barang cukup tinggi. Namun pada perkembangan selanjutnya, jumlah arus penumpang dan barang yang dimuat dan dibongkar melalui pelabuhan ini terus mengalami penurunan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka diperlukan penelitian mengenai kinerja pelayanan dan tanggapan penumpang terhadap pelayanan Pelabuhan Jangkar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja jasa pelayanan serta mengetahui tingkat kepuasan pengguna jasa Pelabuhan Penyeberangan Jangkar. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan metode survey. Data kinerja pelayanan diperoleh dari hasil observasi langsung, arsip UPTD Pelabuhan Jangkar, dan dokumentasi. Data mengenai tanggapan penumpang diperoleh dari kuesioner yang ditujukan kepada pengguna jasa pelabuhan, jumlah sampel ditentukan 100 orang dengan teknik quota sampling, pemilihan responden menggunakan metode incidental sampling. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan data tanggapan penumpang dianalisis dengan teknik IPA (Importance and Performance Analysis). Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, dari aspek kinerja pelayanan, Secara umum kinerja pelayanan pelabuhan cukup baik, akan tetapi masih memerlukan beberapa pembenahan guna memberikan pelayanan yang lebih maksimal kepada seluruh pengguna jasa Pelabuhan Jangkar. Kedua, berdasarkan tanggapan penumpang dengan teknik IPA diperoleh hasil secara umum pelayanan pelabuhan cukup memuaskan. Namun dari 9 indikator pelayanan, terdapat satu indikator yang berada pada kuadran dua yaitu asuransi kecelakaan penyeberangan. Artinya sebagian besar penumpang menginginkan perbaikan pada dua indikator tersebut dan harus menjadi prioritas dalam peningkatan pelayanan di pelabuhan ini. Adapun saran untuk peningkatan kinerja Pelabuhan Jangkar adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Beberapa fasilitas di pelabuhan dengan kondisi tidak terawat atau rusak harus segera diperbaiki seperti dolphin dan trestle dermaga serta areal parkir kendaraan, dan tiga buah toilet pelabuhan. Perlu adanya peningkatan kualitas petugas operasional pelabuhan. Serta (2) dari aspek pelayanan penumpang, diperlukan adanya peningkatan pelayanan penumpang pada indikator asuransi kecelakaan penyeberangan
