Norma e transgressão no romance Clube da Luta (1996), de Chuck Palahniuk : o imaginário da transformação e o real do capital

A fim de investigar a dinâmica da contestação e da conformação, bem como da imaginação e dos imaginários que engendram tal conflito, o trabalho articula três eixos: a comunidade (cap. 1), a utopia (cap. 2) e a violência (cap. 3). Ao mesmo tempo, a tese entende que as possibilidades de transformação são interditadas quando os projetos na narrativa analisada acabam por promover repetição e conservação, o que no trabalho se desdobra na leitura acerca da imunidade (cap. 1), da distopia (cap. 2) e da exploração (cap. 3). Assim, a tese percorre com a narrativa do romance a saga do narrador-protagonista no sentido da imunidade, sendo as tensões entre comunidade e sociedade promovidas pelas aparentes rupturas na vida do personagem; no sentido da distopia, quando mudanças de espaço na narrativa parecem carregar sempre o mesmo não-lugar onde habita o personagem; e no sentido da exploração, sendo que toda violência espetacular das lutas e intervenções urbanas narradas estavam a serviço da violência do real do capital, o lucro. Os principais pensadores mobilizados para tal leitura foram Jean-Luc Nancy, Giorgio Agamben e Roberto Esposito em torno do debate sobre os comunitarismos; bem como Massimo Cacciari sobre o problema do lugar, e também Slavoj Zizek, Alain Badiou e João Bernardo no sentido da questão do real da exploração. O fio que promove o corte crítico e o encadeamento dos eixos da tese é uma leitura, com o pensamento do filósofo Vladimir Safatle, acerca da economia libidinal dos afetos da revolta e do poder pastoral. A partir da obra O circuito dos afetos, a tese entende que os enunciados rebeldes do narrador-protagonista e seu duplo Tyler Durden não são críticas radicais ao establishment, mas sim modalidades estético-políticas de anomia administrada pelas novas configurações do poder pós-1968.Abstract: This research thesis has as its object the novel Clube da luta (2012) / (Fight club, 1996), by Chuck Palahniuk. In order to examine the dynamics of contestation and conformation, as well as the imagination and imaginaries that engender such conflict, it postulates three pillars: community (ch. 1), utopia (ch. 2) and violence (ch. 3). These are woven together by a common thread of repetition and conservation, unfolded through immunity (ch. 1), dystopia (ch. 2) and exploitation (ch. 3). Thus, the thesis explores the novel's narrative with the saga of the narrator-protagonist firstly through immunity, being the tensions between community and society promoted by the apparent ruptures in the character's life; secondly through dystopia, as in the changes of space in the narrative always seem to carry on in the same vein; and lastly, through exploitation, considering that all violence is at the service of the real capital, profit. Key thinkers Jean-Luc Nancy, Giorgio Agamben and Roberto Esposito provide the lens to enable the debate on communitarianism; as well as Massimo Cacciari on the problem of the place, and Slavoj Zizek, Alain Badiou and João Bernardo inform the issue of real exploitation, violence. The critical element that links all pillars is the thought of philosopher Vladimir Safatle, about the libidinal economy of affects, in his work O circuito dos afetos (2019). It highlights this thesis' argument that the rebellious enunciations of the narrator-protagonist are not radical critiques of the establishment, but modalities of administered anomie by the new aesthetic-political configurations of post-1968 power
Cartas de Paulo Leminski: Sinais de vida

Trata-se de duas edições distintas: Uma carta uma brasa através (1992) e Envie meu dicionário (1999), sendo que antes do conteúdo propriamente das cartas, as diferenças significativas entre as duas edições são analisadas. Ainda previamente, o trabalho propõe uma breve discussão acerca do momento histórico da correspondência enquanto troca de cartas, a partir da conferência "Historias de cartas (políticas del campo)" (2003) do crítico Daniel Link, e também acerca do procedimento epistolar e suas particularidades de elaboração e funcionamento, a partir do "Seminário sobre A carta roubada" (1998) de Jacques Lacan e a leitura de Jacques Derrida sobre este seminário em ?O Cartão-Postal? (2007), além de outros escritos que tratam da correspondência. Sobre as cartas de Leminski, o trabalho discute a fortuna crítica sobre as cartas do poeta ao mesmo tempo que propõe um método diferente de leitura em diálogo com o texto "Paulo Leminski: sinais de vida e sobrevida" da ensaísta Celia Pedrosa e, sobretudo, em diálogo com textos do filósofo Alain Badiou, como O século (2007), São Paulo: a fundação do universalismo (2009) e A hipótese comunista (2012), momento do trabalho em que elabora-se uma proposta de método de leitura imanente das epístolas do poeta. Esta aproximação com o pensamento de Badiou se dá através do projeto Sinais de Vida discutido por Leminski nas cartas, no qual o poeta defende a articulação entre poesia e vida.Abstract : This master's dissertation focuses on the published letters of Paul Leminski in correspondence with Régis Bonvicino. It includes two distinct issues: Uma carta uma brasa através (1992) and Envie meu dicionário (1999); and prior to an enquiry of the actual content of the letters, the significant differences between the two issues are analyzed. Firstly though, this paper proposes a brief discussion of the historical moment of the correspondence, as in an exchange of letters, from "Historias de cartas (políticas del campo)" (2003) by critic Daniel Link, as well as conference procedure and its epistolary particularities of development and operation, from the "Seminário sobre A carta roubada" (1998) by Jacques Lacan and Jacques Derrida's reading about this seminar in O cartão-postal (2007), besides other writings dealing with correspondence. Concerning the letters of Leminski, the disssertation discusses the critical opulence of the poet's letters, while proposing a different method of reading in dialogue with the text "Paulo Leminski: sinais de vida e sobrevida" by essayist Celia Pedrosa, and especially in dialogue with philosopher Alain Badiou's texts, such as O século (2007) , São Paulo: a fundação do universalismo (2009 ) and A hipótese comunista ( 2012) , thus proposing a method of reading which is inherent to the poet's letters. (1996) de Alex Garland, o presente artigo investiga as configurações comunitárias
que essas ficções propõem na virada do milênio. Os dois livros são
o ponto de partida para analisar uma dialética da ruptura e da fundação, do
lugar e do território, mas também entre arte e vida, já que a narrativa comunitária
assombra a própria paixão pelo real (Alain Badiou, O século). É diante
dessa contradição que as leituras de Giorgio Agamben (A comunidade que vem),
Jean-Luc Nancy (A comunidade inoperante) e Massimo Cacciari (Nomes de lugar:
confim) nos permitem discutir o paradoxo da relação sujeito e comunidade. As
duas narrativas analisadas propõem um deslocamento diante do mundo em
nome de um outro lugar. Tornados território, configuram-se a partir de identidades,
Clube, ou de restrições geográficas, Praia, e passam então a encenar

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
