National Institute of family and Life Advocates (NIFLA) v. Becerra, or the right to be informed about your own reproductive rights.
The Supreme Court has issued its decision in NIFLA v. Becerra, a 5–4 vote holding that the state of California cannot compel pregnancy-resource centers to advertise for the state’s abortion services. This decision represents a considerable victory for both the right to free speech and the conscience rights of pro-life Americans. The case concerned California’s Reproductive FACT Act, which mandated that both licensed and unlicensed women’s-health clinics (crisis-pregnancy or pregnancy-resource centers) not performing abortions had to provide a pre-written notice to clients. Though the law related specifically to abortion, free speech was the fundamental issue at stake. This paper analyzes the history of abortion in US legislation and the perspective of one of its fundamental civil rights.

Constitutional Gerrymandering Against Abortion Rights: NIFLA v. Becerra
In National Institute of Family Life Advocates v. Becerra, the Supreme Court said that a preliminary injunction should have been issued against a California law that required that reproductive healthcare facilities post notices containing truthful factual information. All that was required by the law was posting a notice that the state of California makes available free and low-cost contraception and abortion for women who economically qualify. Also, unlicensed facilities were required to post a notice that they are not licensed by the state to provide healthcare. In concluding that the California law is unconstitutional, the Court's decision has enormously important implications. It puts all laws requiring disclosures in jeopardy because all, like the California law, prescribe the required content of speech. All disclosure laws now will need to meet strict scrutiny and thus are constitutionally vulnerable. Moreover, the ruling is inconsistent with prior Supreme Court decisions that allowed the government to require speech of physicians intended to discourage abortions. The Court ignored legal precedent, failed to weigh the interests at stake in its decision, and applied a more demanding standard based on content of speech. But NIFLA v. Becerra is only secondarily about speech. It is impossible to understand the Court's decision in NIFLA v. Becerra except as a reflection of the conservative Justices' hostility to abortion rights and their indifference to the rights and interests of women, especially poor women. In this way, it is likely a harbinger of what is to come from a Court with a majority that is very hostile to abortion.</p

the paper analyses two of the earliest examples of the use of products endorsers to pro-
mote food: giuseppe garibaldi and aunt Jemima. garibaldi was so popular that his name was
used to promote biscuits in england, wine in italy, and pasta in the united states. However, the
relationship did not stand the test of time, stressing the problems related to the use in advertis-
ing of real-life celebrities who, with their own separate history, are not able to fully identify with
the product. aunt Jemima, a fictitious character inspired by afro-american pop culture, is, on
the contrary, fully identifiable with the pancake mix she advertises. aunt Jemima is an adaptable
endorser whose role was at times performed by a real woman, and whose story could be modified
according to marketing needs. aunt Jemima not only symbolised the product, she embodied it,
creating a successful relationship throughout the nineteenth century
