The labour market and the distribution of income: an empirical analysis for Italy
No full textThis paper provides an empirical examination of the distribution of labour earnings in Italy. Using four waves of data from the Participation Labour Unemployment Survey, a database of information on the Italian labour market supply, we find the
shape of the observed distributions to be positively skewed with a "fat" and long tail on the right. We also address the question of earnings dispersion by applying a "nested" decomposition procedure of the Theil inequality measure, which combines
into a unified framework the standard decompositions by population subgroups and income sources. The empirical evidence obtained points to the key role played by the self-employees in shaping labour income inequality, especially at the upper extreme of the earnings distribution, and the emergence of non-standard forms of employment as an important feature of the contemporary workplace

Kinetic Monte Carlo simulation of the classical nucleation process
No full textWe implemented a kinetic Monte Carlo computer simulation of the nucleation process in the framework of the coarse grained scenario of the Classical Nucleation Theory (CNT). The computational approach is efficient for a wide range of temperatures and sample sizes and provides a reliable simulation of the stochastic process. The results for the nucleation rate are in agreement with the CNT predictions based on the stationary solution of the set of differential equations for the continuous variables representing the average population distribution of nuclei size. Time dependent nucleation behavior can also be simulated with results in agreement with previous approaches. The method, here established for the case in which the excess free-energy of a crystalline nucleus is a smooth-function of the size, can be particularly useful when more complex descriptions are required
An early-stage statement-level metric for energy characterization of embedded processors
No full textThis work presents an early stage statement-level metric for energy characterization of embedded processors. Definition and the framework for metric evaluation are provided. In particular, such a metric is based on an existing assembly-level analysis and some profiling activities performed on a given C benchmark, and it is related to the average energy consumption of a generic C statement, for a given target processor. Its evaluation is performed with a one-time effort and, once available, it can be used to rapidly estimate the energy consumption of a given C function for all the considered processors. Two reference embedded processors are then considered in order to show an example of usage of the proposed metric and framework. (C) 2020 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier B.V

No full textPromuovere un progetto di cambiamento che investa sul futuro ritorno del bambino nella propria famiglia di origine vuol dire attivare percorsi di sostegno alle famiglie, affinche' possano riprendersi quel ruolo di genitori accudenti a cui in passato sono venuti meno. Come promuovere il coinvolgimento e la partecipazione in quei genitori che hanno i loro figli in una comunita' di accoglienza? E' questa la domanda attorno a cui gli autori riflettono a partire da una esperienza concreta di una comunita' di accoglienza per minori e del lavoro degli operatori con le famiglie dei minori accolti
