Foreign News and Spillovers in Emerging European Stock Markets
No full textWe analyze foreign news and spillovers in the emerging EU stock markets (the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland). We employ high-frequency five-minute intraday data on stock market index returns and four classes of EU and U.S. macroeconomic announcements during 2004–2007. We account for the difference of each announcement from its market expectation and we jointly model the volatility of the returns accounting for intraday movements and day-of-the-week effects. Our findings show that intraday interactions on the new EU markets are strongly determined by mature stock markets as well as the macroeconomic news originating thereby. We show that strong contemporaneous links across markets are present even after controlling for macroeconomic announcements. Finally, in terms of specific announcements, we are able to show the exact sources of macro news spillovers from the developed foreign markets to the three new EU markets under research.finance, intra-day data, macroeconomic news, European emerging stock markets,volatility
Spacecraft break-up models for the atmospheric re-entry from highly eccentric and interplanetary trajectories
No full textDuring the past decades space agencies, and more recent space industry and academia as well, have developed software models to evaluate the break-up and demise of spacecraft during re-entries. Due to limited observational data for validation of these models and the operational needs of the agencies, these models are focused on re-entries from nearly circular orbits or controlled re-entries. This in turn implies that their usability for atmospheric re-entry from highly eccentric orbit and interplanetary trajectories is based on extrapolation, in some cases ignoring the physical differences. This work reviews the limited available observational data on uncontrolled spacecraft re-entries with high flight path angle. It establishes a first order approximation for the predicted break-up altitude during the re-entry from given trajectory conditions postulated on an equivalence with circular re-entry cases via the aero-thermal environment along the trajectory. The equivalence is analysed by means of simulation and inter-tool comparison

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. No full textAnglická anotace The theological work of Jan Valerian Jirsík Jan Hamberger This thesis deals with the theological work of the Czech 19th century author Jan Valerián Jirsík (1798-1883). Its first part consists of an introduction into the Czech historical context of the 19th century and the life of the author. Its second part presents a survey of the literary-theological work of Jirsík in three life phases: the first phase is demarked by his activity as chaplain and vicar, the second phase by his editorial activity for Casopis pro katolické duchovenstvo (trans. Magazine for catholic clergy) and the last phase by his pontifical years in the diocese of Southern Bohemia. His literary work is divided by theme into various periods, shortly described and characterized. The last and major section of this thesis deals with the most comprehensive and renown work of Jan Valerián Jirsík - Populární dogmatika (trans. Popular doctrine). This pivotal work of theologian Jirsík is discussed at large and analyzed by tractate, both apologetic and dogmatic.
