Werner FUCHS-HEINRITZ verschreibt sich dem Ziel, in die Grundlagen der Biographieforschung einzuführen. Konturiert werden Formen biographischer Kommunikation im Alltag und in institutionellen Kontexten sowie Besonderheiten biographischer Kommunikation im wissenschaftlichen Setting (Interview). Die Geschichte dieses speziellen Zugangs zu subjektiven Konstruktionsleistungen im Bereich "Welt und Ich" findet ebenso Berücksichtigung wie Forschungsziele, die mittels Erhebung und Auswertung biographischer Materialien verfolgt werden. Die Themen Forschungsdesign/-prozess, Güte/Validität qualitativer Verfahren werden verhandelt und verschiedene Auswertungsverfahren vorgestellt. Während FUCHS-HEINRITZ oftmals eine auf (Alltags- oder Wissenschafts-) Praxis bezogene, didaktisch hervorragend ausgearbeitete Einführung von Novizinnen und Novizen gelingt, überzeugt der strukturelle Aufbau der Arbeit häufig nicht. L'espace autobiographique de Barbara ou les signes en chanson de la seiche

The autobiographical material being either carefully hidden or ostensibly unveiled, Philippe Lejeune coined the notion of espace autobiographique (autobiographical space), which has proved relevant to emphasize the intriguing interplay between a fiction and an attested autobiography. This methodological framework can be adjusted to the works of the French singer Barbara, and particularly to her posthumous and unfinished autobiography (Il était un piano noir, 1998) and to a selection of her songs which seem to be riddled with biographical details. Our stylistical approach aims at analysing how a feeling of ambiguity is created, intertwining false certainties and subtle indications.On cherche trop souvent en vain à prouver le caractère autobiographique d'un texte court et poétique. En développant la notion d'espace autobiographique, Philippe Lejeune offre une clé pertinente pour appréhender le jeu de dévoilement et de cryptage qui se met en place entre des textes de fiction et une autobiographie attestée. C'est ce cadre que nous posons sur l'oeuvre de la chanteuse de Barbara, à travers son autobiographie posthume inachevée et plusieurs des chansons où elle semble révéler des détails biographiques de sa vie personnelle. Mirror Landing - As Remembered by Birgit Hult
Notes - This account, Memories Mirror Landing by Birgit Hult, was compiled by Birgit's daughter, Jean Elvira Male, it documents the Hult family's experiences in Mirror Landing from 1912 - 1916. The Hults, who were originally from Sweden, arrived in Mirror Landing with two young children, a third child was born during their stay in Mirror Landing. Upon arriving in the area, the Hults made friends with the Gauthier family. The wives became good friends and would swap piano lessons for English lessons. Details of the log home where the family lived and the surrounding landscape were recalled. A memory about a large forest fire that occurred near the family home and dances that were attended in the town are discussed. Jean recalls her mother's memories regarding the animosity towards the North West Mounted Police that was felt by the people of Mirror Landing. The Hult family retained a strong connection to the Swedish heritage and practised many Swedish traditions, such as flying the Swedish flag and eating hot cross buns stuffed with Swedish Marzipan soaked in warm milk. Knowing Through Popular Music in the Western Pacific Island World
Pacific Indigenous scholars have long emphasized the role of relationality for Pacific Islanders’ epistemologies. In this article, the author rethinks music in terms of the procedural knowledge inherent in and specific to popular music-making by exploring the latter as knowledge practices in Micronesia. This approach opens new vistas on the relationality at the heart of Western Pacific music-making. The author calls the musical manifestation of that relational capacity sound ties, suggesting that if, following Epeli Hau‘ofa, Oceania is “humanity rising from the depths of brine”, then it is not least the sound ties of knowing in and through music that mould that very humanity of people who are at home with the sea into aquapelagic assemblages that are, after all, so much more than water and land
Microduplication of 3p26.3 in Nonsyndromic Intellectual Disability Indicates an Important Role of CHL1 for Normal Cognitive Function
Terminal deletions of chromosome 3p26.3 confined to the CHL1 gene have previously been described in children with intellectual disability and epilepsy. Here, we report for the first time, a 3p26.3 duplication including only the CHL1 gene in an intellectually disabled girl with epilepsy. The penetrance of both deletions and duplications in 3p26.3 is reduced because all chromosomal imbalances were inherited from healthy parents. Further studies are needed to specify the pathogenic mechanism of 3p26.3 imbalances and to estimate recurrence risks in genetic counseling. However, the description of both deletions and duplications of chromosome 3p26.3 in nonsyndromic intellectual disability suggests that CHL1 is a dosage-sensitive gene with an important role for normal cognitive development
